    Vello LAE-SE-CEF reviews

Canon EF/EF-S Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Auto Lens Adapter is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good, but beware. First of all, I was to say that this works (most of the time). I don't even bother with autofocus with adapters. Why did I give it two stars? The contact area (little gold spots on the adapter) scratched the contact areas on my Canon L lenses. You can say I'm pretty angry. I thought it was just the adapter not cooperating at first. The shutter speed and aperature sometimes didn't show up. But then someone from B&H suggested I clean the contact areas and this is when I noticed the (pretty deep) scratches on them. This is not from another camera/adapter. I just purchased a new lens and this adapter is the only thing it has been connected to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Adapter for the a6000 I have the sony a6000 and a bunch of cannon lenses I was given. After purchasing a couple other adapters all at around $100 I ultimately settled on this one. I returned the other ones because they did not work vert well or did not focus very effectively. This adapted has worked well with the efs 17-85 and efs 10-22. I actually also ended up purchasing a used canon 70-300mm which has filled the void for a long telephoto for my camera. No other option had good sharpness and if they did they were in the thousand dollar range. For 200 bucks I was able to fill that void and am extremely happy with, the autofocus isn't perfect or quick but it does what I expected.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good but not perfect Pros: - able to use all my Canon lenses, for which I already invested significant $$$ - retain the top notch picture quality of all lenses Cons: - speed of AF is considerably reduced, so a no-go for photographing fast moving objects - in some lenses (so far in my 85mm 1.8) the aperture only goes down to 2.0...not possible to hit 1.8

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely good value Works great with my Sony A7ii. I have used different lenses already. Sometimes the connection for the focus between the camera and lens seems to be off, but as soon as I 'reset' the adapter (change setting switches on lens back and forth once - such as the IS) it works great going forward. I have used both Canon, Sigma, and Tokina lenses with success. Very happy with the built of the adapter feels solid. One can always get more expensive adapters in the 300$+ range, but why spend that money if the Vello will do the trick. MAKE SURE TO CHECK ADAPTABLE LENSES TABLE!!! If your lenses are in the table enjoy the ride, it's affordable and performs great!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's all over the place for focus I bought this while waiting for the Metabones SpeedBooster for full frame Sony to Canon EF mount lenses. While I was grateful it only cost me $100 and at least allowed me to use my new Sony A7rII, my expectations were not high. This lens does focus on a single shot sometimes, but I wouldn't trust it without using other methods to check focus. It doesn't fit completely tight. There's a little play at the lens, but it fits solid on the body. I'd say it's worth the $100, but obviously it's a little plasticky and I wouldn't trust mounting on the on-board tripod screw either.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Probably just good for manual focus anyways I bought this Vello Canon EF/EF-S Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Auto Lens Adapter to be used with my Sony A7s & A7r bodies and my collection of Canon L lenses + my Sigma Art lenses. First and foremost, autofocus is kinda unreliable. It's never fast. It's never native. Sometimes, it actually hunts and fails to find focus. Your best bet is to use this with manual focus and focus peaking to find your focus. In addition to this, another star has been deducted because there are times where depending on the lens, focal length, and focus distance, you might lose aperture and find that you can't open it all the way. I haven't seen many good reviews about the Metabones IV adapter, so I went with this knowing I'd probably have to use Manual Focus and I was right. All that aside, it does a pretty good job in retaining image quality. I see no loss. Not bad for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked as expected With OLD canon lenses I have used several other canon to Sony E-mount adapters in this price range while filming in the A7s and A7sii. From what I can say from my experience and with my lenses they all have worked pretty great but have their quirks. the only thing I have seen with this one so far as it occasionally seems to be unresponsive in controlling the iris. After flicking the control wheel to scroll back and forth the iris would snap out of it and be responsive again. This could very well be cause by the old lens i was using, a Canon 28-105 USM from the early 2000's. But given that most of these adapters can't gerentee reliability with lenses as old as mine I am satisfied. It well build and fits the lenses well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't work for supported lens I bought this to adapt a Canon 55-250 STM to a Sony a6300. The lens is in the support list (for which there are a few warnings to check before purchase). I reviewed the list and found it rather complete so decided this would be a good investment. However, there's no attempt whatsoever to focus the lens. The focus does not move. Unlike a FotodioX adapter that I have that at least tries to focus (but fails most times) this lens. Also, the tripod foot on this Vello adapter is not very secure. Unlike the Fotodiox that tightens up and doesn't move, this one has two tiny rubber spacers between the tripod mount and the adapter which prevent you from tightening the two to prevent movement/wiggle. This adapter may work for other lenses (didn't try), but it does not work for the Canon 55-250 STM on an a6300.
