Lensbaby Edge 50 Overview

Create unique, stylized photographs with a slice of sharp focus surrounded by beautifully blurred imagery by using Lensbaby's Composer Pro II with Edge 50 Optic, available here with a Sony E mount. This updated tool is completely compatible with the established Optic Swap System and can use any of the numerous optics available. This version improves on the original Pro model by featuring a metal body as well as an improved tilt function that ranges from 0-15° in any direction.

Bundled with it is the Edge 50, offering a normal angle of view with coverage for full-frame image sensors. This flat field optic differs from your standard lens by creating a slice of focus when tilted that can be manipulated in position by tilting the Composer and in size by manually changing the aperture from f/3.2 to 22. The optic also offers manual focus which, by using the close focus extension feature, can focus as close as 8" from your subject. Additionally, this optic has a 46mm filter thread as well as an internal 9-blade diaphragm for smooth out-of-focus areas.

Composer Pro II features an upgraded metal body with charcoal gray accents and an improved tilt control from 0-15° in any direction.

How much smaller is the focal plane of this lens ...

How much smaller is the focal plane of this lens on a crop sensor camera than it is on a full frame camera?
Asked by: Seth
A 50mm lens on a Canon crop sensor camera would be roughly equal to using an 80mm lens if you are comparing it to 35mm film or a full frame sensor camera. It does not matter if it is a Lensbaby 50mm or a Canon 50mm or a Canon 18-55mm set to the 50mm range. They will all have the same focal length.

Unfortunately, our Canon lenses are not compatible with your mirrorless Canon camera. Our lenses have a Canon EF mount. Your camera needs a Canon EF-M mount.

question

Does this lensbaby come with bottom and top lens dust caps?
Asked by: Albert
Yes, there is a lens cap for the optic and a contacts cover for the back part of the composer pro. However, there is no cap for the back of the optic when removed from the composer pro, and there is no storage case of the optic like I have received when I have purchased other optics. I thought that was a bit strange.

question

I have the composer pro ii in both canon and fuji mounts, and in both the lens is very hard to tilt even with the ring loosened. is this normal?
Asked by: Christie
Hi Christie. I just tested my composer pro II to see if i had the same problem - And i don't! What i did noticed though, is that the ring has an opposite logic when tightening and loosening, so have you tried max it the other way? Can you move it when the ring is approx. in the middle? In my opinion you should be able to, without being worried about breaking something.Hope you find a solution :)
