  • 1Description

Microsoft combines the portability of a tablet and the performance of a laptop with the Surface Pro 4 12.3" 128GB Multi-Touch Tablet. Weighing just 1.73 pounds and measuring just 0.33" thin, the Surface Pro 4 packs an Intel 6th gen (Skylake) dual-core processor into a magnesium casing with a silver finish. Use the multi-position Kickstand and the Surface Pro 4 Type Cover (sold separately) to turn the Surface Pro 4 into a laptop. The included Surface Pen provides up to 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity.

The Surface Pro 4 features a 12.3" PixelSense display with a 2736 x 1824 screen resolution (267 ppi) and a 3:2 aspect ratio. The display is also a 10-point touch support so you can take full advantage of the multi-touch gestures incorporated into Windows 10 Pro. If you want to output video to an external display, you can use the mini DisplayPort.

The system is powered by a dual-core 6th generation (Skylake) Intel Core i5 processor with Intel HD Graphics 520. It also has 4GB of RAM, a 128GB solid state drive, a microSD media card slot, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, a 5MP front-facing camera, an 8MP rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video recording, and dual integrated microphones. There are also built-in stereo speakers with Dolby audio. Windows 10 Pro is the installed operating system.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4

12.3" PixelSense 10-Point Multi-Touch Display
Featuring a 2736 x 1824 screen resolution with 267 pixels per inch, the 12.3" PixelSense display provides a high-res, clear viewing experience. Use the multi-position Kickstand for a hands-free way to watch movies. The display is also a touchscreen, so you'll be able to utilize the multi-touch gestures incorporated into Windows 10 Pro. You can also output video to an external display via the mini DisplayPort.
Intel Dual-Band 802.11ac Wi-Fi
Featuring Intel dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, the Surface Pro 4 delivers faster Internet access, broader coverage, and longer battery life than was available with previous Wi-Fi standards. The Surface Pro 4 is also backwards compatible with 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi networks. The Surface Pro 4 also comes with Bluetooth 4.0, so you'll be able to connect wirelessly to Bluetooth-compatible peripherals and accessories.
The Portability of a Tablet
Weighing in at 1.73 pounds and measuring 0.33" thin, the Surface Pro 4 can be used in classes, at meetings, or on the road. The bright, responsive touchscreen and the high-quality speakers with Dolby audio provide an immersive viewing experience while the front 5-megapixel camera allows you to video chat with friends and family in high resolution.
Surface Pen
The included Surface Pen feels like an actual pen and provides a natural writing experience. Use the Surface Pen to mark up presentations, sign documents, or enjoy art apps. You can also open a blank OneNote document with a click of the Surface Pen to instantly capture your next idea, even if your Surface Pro 4 is in sleep mode.

Windows 10 Pro

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Notebook, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.
Windows 10 Pro
The Pro version of Windows 10 includes all of the features of Windows 10 Home plus many designed specifically for businesses users, including Hyper-V virtualization, BitLocker disk encryption, and remote desktop access. Devices will also be able to join domains and the Azure Active Directory, and they can even access a specialized version of the Windows Store featuring custom, company-specific applications.

    Microsoft CR5-00001 reviews

    Surface Pro 4 12.3" 128GB Multi-Touch Tablet (Silver) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Advanced Tablet, Entry Level PC I bought this version of the Surface Pro 4 (128 i5) at the recommendation of a MIcrosoft store employee. I explained my daily workload (editing photos, while keeping multiple tabs open in chrome and streaming music) and he said that the $ model could handle it with ease. (My budget wouldn't allow me to jump to the 1300 or 1600 models)After using the surface for a week I grew frustrated at the frequent lag and the fact that it sleeps like tablet rather than like a PC.I think this is a great series, but the recommendation I got was just plain wrong...Also, the improved magnet on the pen kept falling off at the slightest touch...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Live life on the surface This product Is perfect for a photo booth. Thanks makes sense to buy a keyboard and a mouse though. I didn't but I will buy one soon. Also purchase a USB hub because there is only one USB port. I ended up getting an AC powered one. Great purchase you won't be disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product.. could be made great This is a real cutting edge product. Very thin and light and effectively replaces your laptop if you're not doing super heavy text editing/typing and if you have good eyes. The screen is small, but the resolution is pretty high. I use it for online trading and I really appreciate the fact that I can visualize as much as I can for technical analysis. The candles look small, but they're there and the patterns are clearly recognizable. Being a new product, it doesn't come without it's glitches, and there many in this one. The default config has problems with sleep consuming too much battery (I half-fixed them by changing sleep to hibernate). Also I solved the issue of consuming too much battery and turning the fan on by limiting processor usage to 99% while on battery (requires a small registry mod). The tablet is pretty usable now, and I can make it even better by disabling some of Windows 10 spying features too, but I just didn't have the time to dig into that. I deducted one star from my review because the issues I had to address by myself should have been solved by Microsoft, not me.. and my solutions are pretty much hacks. Also get the keyboard.. the user experience without it is still really bad. This is no iPad. If you need the processing power (which is excellent) and running real Windows apps (such as my case with the trading software), there's nothing even close in the market. Get the Surface and you won't regret!.. If your need is not immediate, the next version will likely address some of the bad points I mentioned.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Started rocky but better now Coming from an iPad, it was definitely different. The build quality is great. Excellent bright screen and very sturdy. Windows 10 though is another story. I haven't used a window device in years and I can honestly say I didn't miss it. I wanted something that could take the place of a tablet and minor laptop stuff. The surface pro does that fairly well. A good way to say it. A jack of all trades master of none.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic I'm a School Safety consultant - was using a Lenovo laptop and a 2nd version iPad for work and pleasure. The laptop screen died and I was thinking about going with an iPAD PRO. I did a lot research on the two. I even went to a bog box electronic story and played with both. Hands down Surface Pro 4 is a great tool and the iPad Pro is a nice toy. I'm very, very happy reading and playing games during my downtime and having a powerful portable computer for work. Great detachable keyboard. Bought from B&H - great service and shipping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slick, clean, and powerful Windows 10 A really nice laptop replacement for my aging Sony VAIO (carbon fiber). The MS Pro 4 is same form factor but a bit heavier. I miss all the connectivity of the VAIO, but with VAIOs now extinct I have learned to live with the Pro 4. Does everything in terms of software, but is blazingly fast on scientific code using the Intel compiler.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best portable editing device for Windows If your interested in a laptop or a 2-in-1 the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 can fill that void. Recently I tried several great offerings from Dell, HP, and Lenovo, but they all had fallen short of perfect. With the Surface pro 4 you get one of the best build qualities found on a Windows machine. The screen is 99% sRGB accurate with an Adobe RGB accuracy rating of 77% (on my unit). Microsoft tunes each and every screen before they're boxed so you will have to do little to no calibration for photo editing. I use my Surface with Lightroom and Photoshop tasks and is fast enough for on the go editing. I also use my Surface with tethered shooting and is great for clients to see the photos appear on the screen. Battery life is also fantastic sometimes 8 or more hours of use on a single charge, but if I'm using Lightroom more like 4 hours. Buy the Surface Type Keyboard from Microsoft its a great accessory that has great tactility and shortcuts for use in Lightroom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is the best tablet for the money in my opinion. Much more useful than an iPad - love the fact it has an SD (mini) slot and a real USB port. Great screen, very stable OS. Got it for a great price from B&H which made the deal sweet.
