Glide Gear SCG 300 overview

  • 1Description

The Scopio 3-Axis Gyro Stabilizer from Glide Gear is a handheld gimbal designed to work with your GoPro HERO. The gimbal's brushless motors automatically adjust your camera's position along three axes to allow smooth, level camera movement. Inherently shaky situations like handheld footage, sports coverage and walk-and-talk setups can be captured fluidly. The three axes can be selectively locked to create pan-only-following or pan/tilt-following or pan/tilt/roll locked modes.

The detachable, cabled control handle allows the gimbal to be used on a pole or other support rig (available separately). Display lights indicate mode status and battery strength. Software upgrades are imported via a micro-USB port on the handle.

Note: GoPro camera is not included.

    Glide Gear SCG 300 reviews

Scopio 3-Axis Handheld Gyro Stabilizer for GoPro is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Happy but with problems This product works pretty well. I am not going to review the actual functionality because I have no frame of reference compared to other products like it. It works. I even used it attached to the front of a motorcycle and it handled the vibrations fine. There was a little drift, but it corrected itself within a minute and I think if I better isolate the mount, even the little bit I encountered will not repeat. I am going to review that the product did not come with a helmet mount. I had to call B&H who offered two solutions. Call the manufacturer myself and get one shipped out, or ship the unit back and B&H would ship another out. With no guarantee the new unit would be complete. I chose to call the manufacturer and the helmet cam was in my hands within 2 days of the call. I was very happy about that. The unit came in a really nice box with custom foam cutouts, but no room for the helmet mount. I would make sure you get yours. Oh and the fact that B&H gave me the cell phone number of the president of the company instead of a generic help line probably expedited the shipment of my missing helmet mount. Secondly, the arm that secures the camera into the mount will not accommodate the new extra battery snap in unit. Although they say it will. It is a problem. The camera is supposed to work off the batteries of the stabilizer but I had some issues with that. I haven't done enough testing with that but be aware and test that immediately. This unit works. The manual is almost non-existent. I really like the wire separating the head from the handle and that is why I bought this. Not knocking it, not raving about it. It is sturdy and solid. But I would think twice about this if you are using the addon backs for the goPro.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes, I would buy this again. I research every possible motorize gimbal on you tube and it lead me to this conclusion, everyone has an opinion. So with that said it is this filmmakers opinion this is the right tool for me .I have use it everyday since I purchase it from B&H and it has perform perfectly on each occasion. I ran low on power on one shoot, but took care of that problem by ordering two sets of extra batteries that day- B&H had the batteries the next day (no extra shipping fee-now that's service).I purchase this gimbal because on the cable connection(wish it was a foot longer) because I don't trust wi-fi and wireless technology in the field(clients do not have the patience to hear all that mumbo jumbo of why things aren't working when it is their money) and because of it's built I have come up with a lot of different ways to mount this . Like I said ,the right tool for the right job and this tool works great for me. Rick W.
