    Sanho UDMA 3 reviews

HyperDrive ColorSpace UDMA 3 Wireless Storage Device (500GB) is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Like a Charm Had this unit for awhile, but getting around to reviewing it..use it on yearly photo safaris to Tanzania. Don't want to take a laptop to download photos and this works flawlessly. Easy to learn even without a great instruction manual...stick the CD card in the top, download, clear the card (using your camera) for further use, download the hardrive into your computer when you get home and presto. About the size of standard IPhone (slightly heavier) can view images or clips on the HD but display is small. Overall, saves me space and weight. Like magic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again Simple and easy to use. Just got back from a 2.5 week trip. Each night in the hotel I'd take out my SD Card, put it into the drive and do a backup then after the first one, on subsequent days just need to do an incremental backup to get the new photos. Kept this locked up in the hotel safe as I would go and out and about for the day. Great peace of mind if my camera was stolen, SD Card was lost/damaged, etc, at least I had daily backups sitting in the safe at the hotel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great unit, USB 3.0 - fast and dependable After a few minutes reading the manual I downloaded from the site, I tried using the unit with a CF, SDHC and a portable hard drive. I entered the date, created folders and downloaded two different types of raw files in a quick manner. I was impressed with the speed of the unit. I downloaded the files to my computer - very fast. I had missed a note in the instructions that said I needed to have the unit connected via a charging cable before it would download or sync to a portable hard drive. I called customer service and got a human to speak to me - problem solved and after hooking up the unit per the manual instructions it worked as it should. I backed up to the portable hard drive and felt confident enough to reformat my camera cards for use the next day. I am very happy with the unit. The display screen is very adequate for checking out the photos. I used a USB cable as a charging unit to the computer and then connected it to my USB phone charger - I charged the unit in about the same amount of time as my smart phone. I have not tried using my car charger for my phone to charge the unit but I will bet it will work fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected. 2 weeks in Alaska, 4 digital cameras, 3 types of cards, zero laptops, 18K Raw files. Not the fastest in the world, but never missed a beat. Uses my cell phone charger / USB wall wart. Learned all I needed to know from the manual (not great) and comments other users had made on how they solved their problems. Not really difficult to use. I'd buy another if this one ever went south on me. Not taking a laptop means I used the time for sleep that I would have used up editing on the boat. Small display, but works for me. Backed up to external Passport drive for second set of files.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice Device But The Sanho HyperDrive ColorSpace UDMA 3 does deliver on it promise, it is fast when uploading pictures, great screen and versatile. But, the manual is the worst I have ever seen. It barely covers some basic features. Case in point, it does not cover how to upload pictures to your computer from the device. Because of my experience with portable picture storage devices, I was able to figure it out, I just pity the poor novice who tries to use this device. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the poor manual. I can only image what additional features this device has but because the manual is so bad I will never know what they are. Sanho, if you are made aware of these reviews, please, I beg you, do something about the manual. I enjoy using the device and plan to take it with me on vacation, but at one point I seriously considered sending it back because it was so frustrating trying to use the manual.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Instruction Manual I just purchased this product and have never used a device like this. The users manual is terrible. The manual skips critical steps to accomplish a task. I have spent hours trying to do an incremental upload to no avail. This is going back today. Also, no place on their website I can find where firmware updates are.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Useful but not very fast I recently purchased this device to take on a trip to Europe this month. I had originally wanted a different device but it was not available yet. I do like the fact that it accepts CF and SD cards but the interface is a little quirky, and it takes a little getting used to. The speed could be better but it might be improved if I switch out the drive to a SSD drive. The instruction manual is adequate but missing a few things. For instance, when I got home an hooked it up to my MAC, nowhere in the instructions that I found did it say to NOT turn the power on the Sanho. It was nice that I could hook up an external hard drive via the USB port and make an additional backup of all of my pictures. All in all, if speed is not an issue, this storage device is a lot more convenient to tote around then my laptop.
