Vello Accelerator Lens Adapter for Nikon F-Mount Lenses to Sony E-Mount Cameras
Key Features
  • Nikon F Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera
  • Full-Frame Lenses to APS-C Format Camera
  • Increases Aperture by 1 f/Stop
  • Increases Angle of View by 0.71x
Pair your existing Nikon F-mount full-frame lenses with a modern Sony E-mount mirrorless camera and experience the coveted "full-frame look" on APS-C format sensors with the Accelerator Lens Adapter from Vello. By using a specialized 4 element in 4 group optical design, this adapter is able to increase a lens' angle of view by a factor of 0.71x while simultaneously increasing the maximum aperture by one whole stop. This allows a 50mm f/1.4 lens on an APS-C camera to maintain an angle of view close to 50mm while providing it with an f/1.0 equivalent aperture. This setup means full-frame lenses can be adapted to APS-C sensors, or full-frame cameras in APS-C crop mode, without losing the desired natural look of a full-frame system. Along with this, the adapter features a manual aperture ring with an 8-stop range in 1/2-stop increments.

Vello LAG-NEX-NF Overview

Along with these capabilities the durable metal adapter features a removable tripod foot with 1/4"-20 socket for use on a tripod or support system, alleviating strain on the lens mount. Additionally, the purely mechanical adapter has a matte black interior to prevent reflections from interfering with image quality.

Note:
Using the adapter with telephoto lenses or zoom lenses at longer focal lengths may produce minimal vignetting.
No aperture control will be possible when pairing this adapter with lenses featuring the newer electromagnetic aperture mechanism (e.g. Nikon E, etc.).
Adapts full-frame Nikon F-mount lenses to APS-C format Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras as well as full-frame cameras in APS-C crop mode
Magnifies the lens' angle of view by a factor of 0.71x, effectively negating the crop factor of APS-C format cameras while simultaneously increasing the maximum aperture of the lens by one stop
Optical design uses four elements in four groups to retain maximum image quality
Manual aperture ring with 8 stops in 1/2-stop increments
Removable tripod foot has 1/4"-20 socket for direct mounting on a support system, eliminating unnecessary strain on the camera's lens mount
Matte black interior helps reduce flare for optimal image quality
Metal construction for long-term durability
While Nikon E-type lenses will physically fit, the manual aperture ring function is not supported

Vello LAG-NEX-NF Reviews

I'm really impressed

I have been looking at a speed-booster or Camera Accelerator Adapter since a while and never bought one because of the reviews (yes, I do read and trust reviews) and the fact that many users wrote that the image was softer or not as sharp. I finally wrapped my head around buying one when I saw the offer for $99 - I couldn't pass it on. I got it and immediately tested it with my Sony FS5 and a bunch of nikon glass that I use for stills photography and it turned out to be a really good purchase. The main benefit for me was the expanded field of view, specifically because it allowed me to shoot interviews and walk & talks with a shallow depth of field using glass I already owned in locations where I would have never been able to fit. The image coming out of it is tack-sharp (provided you nail focus, which can be a challenge with stills glass) and i really like the fact that you get one extra stop of light as I could manage to get a bunch of shots with just natural light keeping my ISO low. I would definitely recommend this!

auto focus?

i don't think I even considered auto-focus when this thing showed up on deal o' the day'! I've bought other Vello products. One's expectations much match the price one pays. THAT being said, this thing does exactly what it says it does: I can put my big honkin' Nikon F lenses on a tiny a6300! After 15 minutes it was taking very pretty pictures! rain prevented me from shooting some 4k vid to play back on my 4k tv... I thought it looked cool, little a6300 sportin' a 14-24mm Nikon Wide Angle! There are no words to describe the way it looked on a Tamron 150-600mm volcano lens! So, I think it works just fine for next to nothing I paid for it to, as another reviewer put it, extend the line of available lenses for my little Sony. i think the little plastic box it comes with is more than a little handy as well.

Will not focus to infinity

I bought this adapter during the super-sale a few weeks ago, and this is the first time I've had to try it out. It will NOT focus my Nikon lenses to infinity on my Sony a7sII. I've trusted B&H to make sure their merchandise is of top quality, and I'm wondering if they didn't dump a boatload of defective units on unsuspecting customers. I hope I still have time to return it.

GREAT! (with some lenses)

as the old saying goes.............when she is good, she is very good but when she is bad she is horrid! works with some of my Nikon lenses and not with others. Focus is a tad slow but I'm not shooting sports. All-n-all, I'm happy! it has increased my Sony's arsenal of lenses.

It was a sweet deal

I bought this because B&H made me an offer I couldn't refuse. It was 80% off at $100. My initial review is that it's acceptable. It causes a lack of sharpness when shooting at T2.8 and faster which I do not notice with my Metabones speedbooster. That means the shallow depth of field you're looking for may not be achieved without sacrificing some sharpness. But you are gaining a lot in terms of field of view. It's always a little shocking just how much wider your lenses are when shooting full frame equivalent vs. S35. I don't think I'd pay $500 for this adapter. But if they put it on sale for $250 or less, and you really need field of view more that shallow depth of field, grab it! It's made me really want the Sony to PL Metabones Speedbooster so I can use my CP2s with my FS7.

Works great but too expensive

I bought this when it was on sale for 1/4 of the price and that'd probably be the only time I could recommend it. I got the Nikon version which doesn't have AF making the original price even more ridiculous. It comes in a nice hard case and feels very high quality. I didn't have an issue with infinity focus like some other reviewers have. It did a pretty good job of making my wide angle lenses wider and didn't seem lower quality. Having a tripod mount is great for heavier lenses too and it's removable if it's in your way. If it wasn't for the sale though I would have just skipped it, otherwise I have it to tide me over until I get a wide angle lens for my a6300 (If I bother, this works well enough)

ALL metal construction? I noticed a couple of individual comments elsewhere that stated plastic (body and foot).
Asked by: John
My “VELLO Accelerator LAG-NX-NF” appears/feels/sounds solid and metallic, made of a dark matte black material. Both lens mounts are dull/frosted grey. The base of the removable foot has “B0410” printed on it.

question

Hi:Can someone help me understand what version this is? I see the latest version is V6. But this item does not say the version name. I see ver4 and ver5 listed as separate items on BHP.Thank you in advance.
Asked by: rajani
This one was most likely the first version when introduced. Like many first versions, it was not given a number.

question

Can I use this adapter on the Sony FS7ii camera?
Asked by: Sean C.
While we have no reports of this combination and we cannot test it, we see no reason this would not work as you wish. As I learned in a career in cinematography, test, test, test to make sure it works. If you have any problems, write us at [email protected]

question

Can you adjust the elements position (aka: back focus) for proper infinity focus on MF Nikkor Ai/AiS lenses, like you can with the Metabones version?
Asked by: Phillip
No such adjustment available and mine was not getting to infinity focus so it was not worth keeping. I did not exchange it for another example of the same product because the iris control jams on all of the several lenses I tried. It adjusts the smaller f-stops properly but jams anywhere two to 4 stops short of reaching wide open. Avoid this product !

question

Is there a list of lenses that this adapter supports? I have Tokina 12-28 F4, Sigma 150-600 C which I use on my Nikon D7100.
Asked by: VINEETH
I would say that if the lens fits your Nikon it will fit the same way on this Nikon adapter. All of my Nikon and Sigma lenses work with this adapter. I do notice lens flare or fog that happens in certain lighting angles with some of my lenses and this adapter.
