Microsoft RM-1116 reviews

Lumia 950 XL RM-1116 32GB Dual-SIM Smartphone (Unlocked, White) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 64.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Leaps and bounds ahead of my old Lumia 1020 I had been holding off on getting a new phone because of how good the camera on my Lumia 1020 was, and nothing even came close to it. Finally the USB port on my 1020 started to malfunction (the charger was loose) so I decided to go for the 950XL here on BHPhoto... Way less money here than elsewhere, and if you buy and activate before March 16th you get a $ giftcard to the msft store as well through the Lumia offers app, you'll need to search google for the Lumia offers app 950XL $ promo since I can't post links here, you'll find people's emails to use as one that recommended you. Ok, now on to the review. This phone is great, I really had no idea what I was missing on my Lumia 1020 until I finally brought one of these things home with me. I have a Lumia 635 and 640 and while I knew they were nowhere near flagships I didn't realize just how bad they were... The Lumia 950xl is lightning fast and I have yet to have any bugs whatsoever (I immediately updated my device to the newest Windows 10 version however). I thought the massive size would be annoying but it's actually easier to hold than the 640XL (wider and thicker than the 950XL) and far easier than the 1520, which does have a larger screen though. I ordered a case when I bought the phone and I really recommend everyone do the same, the phone itself is a bit slippery and does not feel like it would handle a drop on pavement all that well without a case.My favorite parts of this Lumia 950XL over my 1020 are:1) Faster Processor and More Ram (2.5 year newer phone so this is obvious)2) The Edge Browser - Edge is so much better than Internet Explorer on Windows Phone 8.1, it's not even comparable it's so much faster and smoother, and websites load correctly. 3) MicroSD slot - It was very annoying not having this on the 1020, which took photos with massive filesizes.4) Removable Battery - Honestly, I don't care that much about the removable battery for the sake of a spare as much I do for the purpose of being able to shut down the phone in case of a fault. On previous devices without removable batteries your only option was to let the dang thing run out of juice if the soft reset didn't work...5) Iris scanner - This thing is really cool. I've found it to be a bit hit or miss in terms of the distance it will recognize you at but it always recognizes me at some point and even through sunglasses or in the dark. It's a new and unique feature that at the very least is a cool talking point.6) USB-C - So glad to be done with Micro-USB, the days of trying to plug in the charger at night upside down are finally gone. Also this is a million times (exaggeration) faster at transferring files between PC and phone than my 1020 is.7) Built in Wireless Charging - This is something that irked me for the longest time with my 1020, it was released after the 920 and cost more than the 920 but for some reason they decided to not give the 1020 wireless charging without a special case (that wasn't protective at all). Thankfully this is not the case with the 950XL.While my 1020 had glance I just wanted to note that I'm thankful the 950XL still has that feature, which the low-end Lumias and other windows phones lack. Glance is still so great. I should also note that the camera on the 950XL is definitely up to snuff. I don't think it's quite as good as the 1020's in terms of quality but when you factor in how much quicker it is to focus and how much quicker it is to save the picture (my 1020 would take a couple seconds to save a photo) I think it ends up being a wash or even tips in favor of the 950XL. Go take some pictures of a ten dollar bill's edge and see the magic. There are only two things I am currently disappointed with in terms of the 950XL (dual sim variant). 1) It has no visual voicemail as of right now, this is a feature I've grown to love over the years and currently the 950XL dual sim version does not have it. That being said, Microsoft has announced they are working on it and even released it to the windows preview folks.2) Apparently this doesn't feature hyper sensitive touch like all the Lumias before it... This was something I loved to show off while everyone else had to take their gloves off or buy stupid metal tipped gloves to use their phones, I was able to just keep my nice leather gloves on and use my Lumia. I'm not sure why this feature is absent on the 950XL but I still have hope that it will be added at a later date. When you factor in the price difference between the 950XL and an iPhone or Galaxy S7 there really shouldn't be much of a competition, the 950XL is far cheaper than either of those and it's just as good... Windows Phone is the best mobile OS in my opinion and I don't notice the app gap as people say. I own a couple android devices as well and even on those I hardly use any apps. I'd like to see a BofA app make its return but since they pulled their app I have switched to Ally, which pays a much better interest rate and also has a Windows Phone app, win-win!If you base your windows phone opinion off of the $ Lumia 640 or 635 or 520, etc etc please please PLEASE go try one of these out. There is no comparison, the Lumia 950XL is so much better than those which honestly were worse than my 1020 despite being years newer.I'm totally happy with my purchase and definitely recommend this bad boy to any windows phone fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new Lumia 950 XL is really cool! Great phone! Still learning about it. This is my first fully paid for phone. Took it out of the box, connected charger & updated the firmware. After it was charged, I put in a Micro SD card and a sim card and was making calls. Did not require activation. Took a couple of days for the phone to sync to all my apps, contacts and media. I like that discovery feature. I keep getting snide remarks that I should have gotten a real phone, like an iPhone or Android. My comeback is that I have one of the only real phones. Why would I purchase something less capable?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Phone - Dual SIM, Great Camera and OS Improvements Very progressive phone and use for Business cannot be beat. Application availability is growing but having used a Samsung Edge Plus Dual Sim Global Phone - this is such less headache. LTE natively captured on this phone and less lockups than I experienced on the Samsung. The camera is very nice - having used the Nokia 1020, 1520 and 930 in my prior life - was impressed with the quality of the photographs including low light. The phone just feels right in the hand - not too heavy nor too light - Balance is excellent. I have ordered a third party Mozo leather case back for this and should add additional texture to make this a great phone. Highly Recommend the Phone and Excellent Service from B&H

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Device I had cellphones and smartphones since the beginning. I've used windows phone till 2006 then Symbianm then android, (had an iPhone once but I felt the system too closed to my taste) now I had to move to Windows Phone (company policy) I'm very very happy with the phone, Winodws 10 mobile is a mature and comfortable OS, the phone hardware is great. The back cover I really prefer plastic, glass or aluminium are damaged easier. Used to had installed about 300 applications on my Android phone, but only used 4 or 5 for daily use. On the Windows store I have all I need, and if I purchase an application I can use it on the PC as well. Great OS, great HW, I really do not understand why this negative Hype on the web. I do not care if MS Marketing guys are doing all the best to kill their platform, I will keep it, great device so fa !!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best phone owned If you use a lot the Microsoft office this phone is a must have for you. When used with Continuum, this phone almost looks like a computer. You can use Office the same way you would use in a laptop or desktop. With mouse and keyboard working. It is an unique experience. The phone is nice. Awesome display, it is fast, and works as it is supposed to work. The only problem is lack of apps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome phone Upgraded from a Lumia 920 and absolutely love this phone. Pros: 1. Very powerful. Lots of CPU power and RAM. Apps open very quickly and work reliably even if I leave a few open. I think most issues I experience after updating 920 to Win 10 were because of lower amount of RAM. Problem solved with the 950XL 2. Beautiful screen. Photos are extremely crisp and maps and texts are easy to see with just a quick glance. Works very well in bright sunlight. Much easier to read books. 3. Battery finally lasts all day. The battery in my 920 was showing signs of age. With the huge capacity battery of 950XL I don't need to worry about charging during the day. Still about 20% left after a day's worth of normal usage: Constantly getting email, 2 sims, music over Bluetooth on the way to work and back 1:45, gaming or reading in the evening and an occasional phone call. 4. USB C is awesome, even though I never use the port since all my Qi wireless chargers still work. 5. Very light, but feels extremely solid. I did get the protection plan, but only because accidents happen and it is not exactly cheap. 6. Camera is amazing. I've never seen pictures this good from any phone other than dedicated camera phones like the Lumix. Cons: 1. Buttons are hard to differentiate by touch and I occasionally lock the phone when trying to change volume. 2. It is a bit too big for my liking. I already got used to holding it, but there are still times when I wish it was smaller. For example, it doesn't fit into the convenient spot in my car where 920 used to fit like a glove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great phone Former iPhone user, I decided to switch over to try a Windows Phone. These phones are greatly underrated and definitely need more recognition. Where Microsoft dropped the ball in advertisement, they made up for it in phone quality. User friendly interface, easy to figure out apps and easy access buttons. The phone features a lot of functions Apple and Android have been using but seem to have done them in a way that feels more organic such as one handed typing mode and its virtual assistant (Cortana). The app store is well stocked with many great apps.and even better yet a lot of them are cross platform from Windows Phone to your Windows 10 computer. The downside is you may have trouble finding some apps you've gotten used to in the Android or Apple app stores due to many companies not seeing the value in Windows phone. Camera quality is great, battery life seems better then my previous phones, the Continuum feature which allows the phone to plug into a dock to be used as a desktop is fantastic. And it comes with full featured Microsoft office suite which is awesome to have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An amazing phone. I got this phone as an upgrade from a Lumia 640 and let me tell you this phone is amazing and has great features granted it has its bugs and lacks of apps but it doesn't take away by much of the enjoyment of the experience of Windows 10 on a phone. The way I see it that it comes to preference if you a app addict and like tons of apps an such then this phone isn't for you. If you like just doing the basics and taking amazing pictures with this phone and playing some intensive games with this phone then it will deliver. Just don't expect it to be a iPhone or android its by far neither of them two. And honestly I wouldn't give up this phone for an android let alone an iPhone. From what I gather my Lumia 950 XL is a international from Spain and that's cool :) And it works on AT&T gophone. Thanks so much to B&H for having this amazing phone at a reasonable price. Kudos to them and great job from Microsoft from making an outstanding phone. :)
