  • RX 5 Advanced - Audio Restoration and Enhancement Software (Download)

RX 5 Advanced from iZotope is the latest update to their audio repair software, long considered a staple within the recording, mastering, and audio for video post-processing communities. The software is available as a standalone application or as a plug-in for both Mac and Windows based DAWs. From fixing common audio problems like noises, distortions and inconsistent recordings, to repairing damaged audio using Spectral Repair that intelligently identifies and clones from the surrounding audio, the software is able to transform previously unusable audio into something usable.

The advanced edition adds several very important functions for professional workflows. Often audio for picture can be recorded in different locations and times, even when the scene is destined to be the same in the final product. EQ Match and Ambience Match help in making the audio sound as if it was recorded at the same time. De-plosive is a process that improves the quality of dialogue by removing plosive pops and microphone bumps, using intelligent and transparent analysis to detect their presence in between the desirable harmonics of dialogue or a vocal. Leveler processes the volume of dialogue for consistency, while also keeping breathes and sibilants lower, unlike regular levelers that might boost these quieter signals. And a loudness module processes whole program mixes or segments to comply with international industry standards.

Other enhancements include an Instant Process Tool, which allows for directly painting away audio problems on the spectrogram and offers several modes - attenuate, de-click, fade, gain, and replace. Processing multiple modules simultaneously is done in the Module Chain, reducing the number of mouse clicks required for using a series of processes. Corrective EQ surgically reduces and removes problematic frequencies, while de-clip repairs digital and analog clipping artifacts, especially useful for saving recordings that were made in a single pass and cannot be re-recorded, such as live concerts or interviews.

Since some of the tools are only available in the standalone version, RX Connect enables the use of those tools in conjunction with the user's audio or video editing software with seamless transfers and without slowing down productivity. Additional features include high quality re-sampling and dithering, rebuilding distorted audio, batch processing, and more. A detailed spectrum analyzer detects peaks automatically and a suite of automatic, intelligent modules reduce manual tasks in the audio production workflow. RX 5 Advanced Audio Editor can be used as a standalone audio editor, as a standalone audio editor connected to your host via RX Connect, or as a suite of plug-ins.

  • RX Final Mix - Post Production Processing Plug-In (Download)

RX Final Mix from iZotope is aimed at audio post production professionals and video editors who need to deliver broadcast compliant mixes without degrading the quality of the source audio. The real-time plug-in can control peaks and provides mixes and sub-mixes with a smooth sonic balance while ensuring clearer dialogue, maximum sonic impact, and more accurate mix compliance. The Dynamic EQ and True Peak limiter are optimized with intelligent DSP for true peak compliance with the latest loudness standards (BS.1770-2/3, EBU R128, and more).

    • Dynamic EQ is essentially an EQ with the ballistics of a compressor
    • Surround sound, program-dependent EQ provides intelligent dynamic control over EQ adjustments
    • Control gain, frequency, Q and the shape of up to eight nodes
    • Each node can operate in a dynamic mode, in which the shape and depth of the EQ curve will change in response to the audio, allowing an EQ adjustment to behave differently in different scenarios - for example a large explosion, a sudden gunshot, or a dialogue sibilance reduction
    • User-definable threshold sets the point at which the dynamic ballistics start to operate
    • Incoming frequencies located at the EQ node/band are used to trigger the amount of EQ applied - the further it falls above or below the threshold, the greater the adjustment
    • The attack and release times for the trajectory of the dynamic behavior scale in accordance to the type of audio passing through
    • Accentuate sections of the spectrum with the Dynamic EQ - Expand mode
    • True peak, BS.1770-2/3 compliant limiter provides intelligent digital loudness maximization of the signal, while ensuring there are no true peak overflows to keep mixes compliant to delivery specs
    • Three user-definable characters (clear, smooth, thick) allow for more direct control over the adaptive, transparent nature of the limiting algorithm, tuned specifically for post production audio
    • Processor analyzes incoming source material and leverages a psycho-acoustically pleasing algorithm, reacting quickly to transients and reacting more slowly to steady, lower frequency tones
    • Optimized to preserve transients and present them more clearly in the output signal, even when aggressive limiting is taking place
    Stem and Master Bus Processing
    • Provides up to 7.1 surround support with control over LFE channel processing, for use on both stems and master busses
    • For delivering discrete stems, use the frequency control and true peak limiting (it is not recommended to use the processors on both stems and the master bus as this changes the relationship between the two)
    • For delivering a final stereo or surround mix without stems, the plug-in contains specific master bus presets designed to prepare the mix for optimum sound quality, and even specific playback scenarios such as video streaming
  • RX Loudness Control - Automatic Global Loudness Correction Plug-In (Download)

RX Loudness Control from iZotope is a post production plug-in that avoids the problems associated with rejected audio material due to non-compliance with broadcast loudness specifications. Based around faster-than-real-time intelligent algorithms, the software delivers compliant audio from multiple hosts according to global standards.

For many mixes, dynamics are not affected because only a fixed gain is required to meet specifications. In the case of a mix having high dynamic content or significant transients, compression and/or limiting may be applied to meet Short-term (Momentary) or True Peak parts of the specification. Surround sound up to 5.1 is supported and the software will also preserve the Left total/Right total (LtRt) encoding on a Dolby-encoded mix.

    • Ensures mixes meet the required delivery specifications with intelligent algorithms that take out the guesswork
    • Deliver results globally using the latest loudness standards
    • Extensive presets and efficient workflow that saves time on the final stage of TV production
    • History graph and loudness report inform whether audio is within the appropriate tolerance of the selected loudness standard, and if not, shows where the overflows may be occurring
    • Supports mono, stereo, and surround channel counts up to 5.1
    • IRC (Intelligent Release Control) II transparent limiting algorithm, an offline process that corrects a mono, stereo, or surround sound audio file for True Peak value (dBTP)
    • Supports offline processing as an AudioSuite plug-in for Avid Media Composer and Pro Tools 10 through 12
    • Offline loudness-compliant processing is available as an audio extension for Adobe Premiere Pro
