BenQ MH741 overview

  • 1Description

Designed for use in medium to large-sized conference rooms, training rooms, higher education facilities, and houses of worship, the BenQ MH741 4000-Lumen Full HD DLP Projector boasts a 10,000:1 contrast ratio to go with its 4000 lumens of brightness, offering clear images even in areas where the ambient light can't be controlled. Its 1.15 to 1.49:1 throw ratio and 2D keystone correction provide additional installation flexibility, accommodating multiple room configurations. It has VGA, RCA composite, S-Video, and two HDMI inputs, one of which supports MHL connectivity for portable devices. The MH741 also features a VGA output for loop-through to another projector. Its built-in 10W speaker will provide audio, so external speakers may not be necessary. The projector is controllable via RS-232 or the included IR remote.

2D Keystone
2D keystone correction provides installation flexibility by correcting the trapezoid effect via horizontal and vertical adjustments up to ±30 degrees. With it, the projector can be placed off-center, allowing the presenter to stand in front of the screen without blocking the image. The projector can also be placed anywhere on a u-shaped tabletop, without moving the table or putting a stand in the center.
Corner Fit
Corner fit is a flexible and convenient way to align the picture by adjusting each corner of the image independently.
MHL Connectivity
With MHL, you can present your business proposals and share your ideas instantly using your Android smart device. Turn a small screen into a big screen by mirroring documents, photos, videos, and any other content in your smart device onto the projection screen. Once connected, the projector supplies power to the smart device, keeping it charged so you don't run out of battery power while presenting.
SmartEco Technology for Energy Conservation
SmartEco Technology helps lower total cost of ownership while optimizing projector performance through dynamic power savings. This innovation allows schools and corporations to save up to 70% of lamp power consumption, with the added benefit of lower maintenance costs.
Eco Blank Mode
The Eco Blank feature allows users to blank or mute the projected image on the screen, affording privacy to search for files or documents while the desktop is not projected to the entire audience. When activated, Eco Blank automatically dims lamp power, lowering total power consumption by up to 70%.
SmartEco Lamp Saving Technology
Incorporating SmartEco lamp saving technology, the MH741 provides energy savings while continuing to deliver high picture quality. The SmartEco mode is designed to use only the exact amount of lamp power a projector needs to deliver the best contrast and brightness performance. This feature enables the MH741 to deliver high projection quality with the added benefit of a reduced total cost of ownership, by extending lamp life and lowering power consumption.
No Source Detected Mode
There will be times when a projector is turned on without a display source, such as a connected notebook or classroom PC. To avoid having the projector running at full lamp power, the No Source Detected feature lowers the lamp brightness to 30% after the projector has remained unconnected to a display source for more than three minutes.
0.5W in Standby Mode
When inactive, the MH741 keeps power consumption to a minimum < 0.5W standby power, achieving higher energy savings, and reducing the total cost of ownership while helping to save resources.
Built-In 10W Speaker Power
The powerful built-in 10W speaker delivers crisp, clear audio to fill even the largest rooms, allowing your message to be clearly heard.
Supports Various 3D Formats
With DLP Link, the MH741 supports all 3D formats mandated under the HDMI 1.4a specifications: 3D field-sequential, 3D frame packing, 3D top-and-bottom, and 3D side-by-side.
Closed Captioning
Equipped with built-in closed captioning capability, the BenQ MH741 can display subtitles embedded in video content. No additional external decoder is required.
Writing Templates
Built into the projector is a selection of three different line patterns, emulating the look of notebook paper, to help make writing ad hoc notes on whiteboards and blackboards a snap.
Colorific Technology Delivers Enhanced Color
Colorific technology is designed to optimize images for specific color balance effects for diverse applications such as presentations, movies, spreadsheets, and photographs. Every Colorific projector combines up to seven different colors to create vibrant images. You'll also experience high contrasts for enhanced clarity, higher impact, and greater legibility.
Sharp Images
Increased sharpness is achieved by maximizing the fill ratio of individual pixels and employing BenQ's SmartEco Technology.

    BenQ MH741 reviews

MH741 4000-Lumen Full HD DLP Projector is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great projector, Great throw ratio! I bought two of these projectors, to replace some BenQ 4K lumens projectors I had bought the previous year. We use them for professional presentations. They have a great throw ratio, which for us means, we can place the projector closer to the screen than before, saving valuable real estate at events. Brightness is great, size is smaller than you would expect for such an output. It has some great keystone features ( the ability to change the shape of the image to keep it square on the screen) I am very happy with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very bright and crisp These projectors were my second choice and I am glad the first choice was out of stock. The MH741 does not disappoint. I installed 3 of these in a large seminar room and I am able to get a crisp image even with the lights turned on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grerat Bright Projector... I am using this in my living room (40' x 13.332') viewed on my floor pull up Elite Screen ezCinema Series 150 16:9, ceiling mount with lots of lights, and amazingly it has beautiful bright colors , 4000 Lumens, really impressed. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice product for the price This projector is moved around quite a bit. It is mostly used for a few hours a week to project lyrics, graphics, and videos on a screen. I have been very pleased with the brightness. Even projecting in a lit room in daytime you can still see the images projected clearly. It is also a nice weight and size. Many features, including auto keystone, is nice. Features I never would have thought of like options to project on walls that are not white (like light yellow or light green) are cool and may come in handy. One concern at the moment (and time will tell) is the lens unit seems a bit on the cheap side. It adjusts fine, but I would have like it to feel more rugged. Also, the lens cap fits on by pressure but only when the lens is retracted back into the projector housing. My fear is someone may miss that and jam the lens back on too hard and get the focus permanently out of whack. Otherwise, I am pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME for ambient light!! We have a huge sales floor and the image from this projector is crisp and totally view-able, even with all the overhead fluorescent lighting. I would highly recommend this if you have issues with ambient light. We are using it with a CineGrey 5D 150 screen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Picture this? This projector has all the features we at our church setting needed. It is fixed in a ceiling mount and has the throw that we need to see the image well. It is easy to set up and operate. It also has the inputs and outputs that are necessary for full computer and DVD compatibility. Great features. We will be buying more later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 4000-lumen bright with quality. This unit was a perfect fit for our family room with an abundance of ambient light. It if the first projector we have had that can be used during the daylight hours. TV, Netflix and XBox all look great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissapointing I have digitalized 35mm slides. I also project the original film slides using a Kodak slide projecter in order to compare sharpness and true colors. When I project using the BenQ MH741 onto the same 72" wide screen, I simultaneously see them projected on the laptop screen. Projected they are not sharp, on the laptop they are. Color balance works for one slide, but not another, it is fine on the laptop. I have tried all adjustments to no avail. The appearance on the laptop is close to the Kodak projections. The BenQ misses that standard. I expected better quality for the price.
