The Forerunner 235 enables you to share all your run and activity data and monitor your progress at Garmin Connect. Garmin Connect is Garmin's free online community where you can plan, save, and share your activities. Download the Garmin Connect Mobile application to your compatible smartphone and all your activity data can be automatically uploaded from your Forerunner 235 to Garmin Connect.

The Forerunner 235's rechargeable lithium-ion battery lasts up to 11 hours in full training mode (using GPS-tracking and full running features) and up 9 days in watch mode (including activity tracking, smart notifications, and heart rate monitoring). It can store up to 200 hours of running and activity data, so even if you can't sync right away, you won't lose any important information. Additionally, the Forerunner 235 is designed to withstand water pressures equivalent to a depth of 50 meters, so you can take it with you in the rain, snow, and sunshine.

Heart Rate Measured at the Wrist

The Forerunner 235 is equipped with Elevate heart rate technology that measures your heart rate at the wrist, enabling you to run without a chest strap. A colorful gauge on the Forerunner display indicates your heart rate zone and beats per minute in real time.

Customize Your Watch and Your Training

On and Off the Road Running

A built-in accelerometer enables the Forerunner 235 to capture distance and pace data when you're running on an indoor track or treadmill, no separate foot pod accessory needed. When you're not running, the Forerunner 235 works as an activity tracker, counting your steps and calories burned throughout the day. It also reminds you to move after sitting for more than an hour. The Forerunner 235 is compatible with GPS and GLONASS satellites to locate your position quickly and precisely whether you're running deep in the woods or near tall buildings.

Huge help tracking progress as I get back into running

I love my Garmin Forerunner 235! I’ve been a lifelong runner and I restarted running this year after some time off. My Garmin has been a great help with tracking my progress accurately. It’s very easy to use and provides options for various activities. In addition,  I love that I’m able to monitor and keep track of other important health stats such as heart rate.  I am now a Garmin user for life.

Excellent watch with a small caveat

Functionally this watch is excellent and it does much more than what Im looking for: run and bike tracking and general fitness tracking. With little or no GPS use it uses less than 10% of battery life per day so it could last a couple of weeks on a charge. I havent had it long enough to find out. The small caveat is that the always-on display is nowhere near as brilliant and colorful as it looks in the advertising, except in bright sunlight. I had an Apple Watch previously - i really really like the always on display and the battery life. Plus, it can connect to ANT+ devices. Its a good value at the discounted price of $200.

Love my new Garmin. I have an old 210 that works perfectly, but does not give me the new metrics that the 235 gives. In our family we also have two 610 Forerunner watches and they are very clunky with trying to set up and maneuver through the touch screen. The 235 works much better.

Great for what I wanted. I had 3 basic reqirements: 1. Heart rate monitor. 2. Pedometer to tell me how far I had walked and 3. an analog, old-fashioned clock face with big numbers I could actually see. The watch excelled in all 3 areas. I havent explored all the GPS related capabilities but Ill get there. It was a bit frustrating getting started using the watch but the videos on YouTube helped a lot. I did make a kind of menu tree, similar to what you find on a digital camera, to get a better handle on which buttons did what & the appropriate sequences. GARMIN really does need to produce a For Dummies type tutorial to help total newbies uses tnis device.

Great gps watch. Accurate for the casual runner. Only issue I have is that sometimes the Bluetooth connection is finicky.

Have been looking for a replacement of my Forerunner 305. Want the Fenix line but this does everything I want. HR monitor works great instead of wearing a chest strap monitor. Glad I purchased this. And always, B & H delivers with competitive prices and quick delivery.

Yes. Using the Garmin Express app, you can go to the Garmin website, set up just about any sort of training outline, then you download that outline onto your watch. I have 11 different custom workouts on my watch right now.

    question

    Does the backlight stay lit?
    Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, it can be set that way. It defaults to staying on for 8 seconds when you push the button. You can also set it to stay on for 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute or just to stay on when the button is pushed. In addition, it can also be set to come on by turning your wrist instead of pushing the button.

    question

Does this watch come with a built-in heart rate monitor on the wrist (no chest straps)?
    Asked by: Joynal R.
Yes. However you need to wear it above your wrist bone and fairly snug which is a bit awkward until you get used to it.
