This cord works great with my Nikon Z7 & SB-5000. Of course, the Z6/Z7 cameras will not make use of the focus assist light on any external flash. I don't have a Nikon DSLR to see if the focus assist works, I just have to assume it does. The first time I have a chance to use a DSLR I will test that feature. The attachments at both ends work very well. They're fast to operate, and lock up solidly. No complaints here. I purchased the ZIV cord while it was on a Flash Sale for less than $15. I couldn't be happier to have a flash cord at that price. Even at normal price, it's a bargain.

Passes iTTL testing, so I'm happy with it. Feels solidly built, but hasn't been subjected to heavy use yet.

Ziv TTL Cord with Focus Assist for Nikon - works but.

The Ziv TTL for Nikon seems to work quite well, it can measure distance in low light situations and works as claimed _ exposeres were spot on, even in hight contrast situations. There is one thing that makes the unit difficult to use as shipped, there is no way to rest the unit with a flash attached unless you purchase a seperate flash bracket. If they had designed the unit which goes into the camera hotshoe with a dummy shoe you could free up on hand. So if you purchase this unit I would recommend you also order a flash bracket.

Does the af assist work when sync port cable is use in different camera?
Asked by: Pedro
While this hasn't been comprehensively tested with other brands, the AF assist like would likely not work on other brands because it will likely rely on the Nikon i-TTL system to relay the necessary signals needed to activate the light in low-light conditions. Furthermore, because this uses an IR focus assist beam, mirrorless cameras will not trigger the AF assist beam.

You also need to turn focus assist "ON" within the menu of your camera, especially if your Nikon camera has a pop-up flash. The camera focus assist IS visible white. The Speedlights are Infrared but up close you can see some visible red lighting red bars.
