Will this work on a Nikon D500 and D7100 with Nikkor 200-500mm and Sigma 18-35mm Art?
Asked by: Francisco
The program is designed to work with the Nikon and Canon cameras. I don't have a way to test your specific cameras but all of my Canon cameras worked with this program. From the 50D to the 7D Mk2 and a friend's 1Dx MK2 etc. You main issue with the 200-500 lens is going to be the distance from the camera to the target. I calibrated a Sigma 150-600mm with the target at 50 ft away and it was a little difficult due in part to how close the target was, therefore, plan to use a location where you can locate your target 60-70 ft away. Also make sure you use a tripod/head combination that will lock your camera in position, otherwise any small movement (as you enter values etc.) may affect your calibration settings, forcing your to reboot the program. The Sigma 18-35mm should be a breeze to calibrate. Hope this helps. PA

Do l have to use the focal lens target With this software ?
Asked by: Michael
Hi Michael, Yes it's possible but not usually recommended :) FoCal is designed to work well with a specific target design (image file is available to download via the website and FAQ has printing tips). Boxed FoCal includes a pre-printed 'hard target' so no printing is required. The FoCal target design allows for extra checking of the setup, including distances and also FoCal can account for slight camera movement when using the FoCal target. Using a different target is possible, it's hard to think of an advantage to this approach but FoCal does allow it. Calibration results may not be accurate and it is not recommended, There's a setting in Preferences > Tests (tab) > Target Validation - you can select "No Target Validation". Best Regards, Dave

update firmware?

update firmware?
Asked by: Michele
Do not have the latest mirrorless camera, so the main reason would be if it will do a better job in tuning the lenses with my traditional DSLR. The lenses are working OK with present tuning, so there is no compelling need. If I have spare time, I may run the second beta version just to compare the tuning results with the previous "full release" version of the software.

question

Can I enter the FoCal values into the Sigma 150-600 Sports lens using the Sigma Dock & software instead of entering in the camera? If so, is it a 1 to 1 entry? (I have a Canon 5DMKIII camera.)
Asked by: Keith
Hi Keith, Thank you for your interest in Reikan FoCal. Realise you might have moved on by now (we've only just now have access to post up answers here). Use of the Sigma Dock (and Tamron TAP) with Reikan FoCal is possible, it's a fairly involved process but raising a support request via the Reikan FoCal website the support team will be able to provide some useful info. Best Regards, Dave

In the product pictures, I see several wires running between the laptop and the camera. What sort of hardware do I need to connect my camera to my computer?
Asked by: Diane
The USB cable that came with the camera connects the camera to the laptop or computer. In some cases the software is able to control the camera and "enter" the correcting factors automatically, in others you have to manually add the numbers before the next step is performed. In this case make sure you have a very secured tripod/tripod head to avoid any movement otherwise you will need to start all over.

question

Is the 150 mm target supplied large enough to calibrate lens's larger than 400mm? What size is optimal?
Asked by: Charles
Hi Charles, The 150mm target is good for all lenses and ideal for longer focal lengths. The only case for using or needing a larger target is for calibrating wide lenses (24mm and wider) at further distances. Best Regards, Dave
