LG LGH790 Overview

  • 1Description

Enjoy dynamic handheld performance and a "pure" Android experience with the black Google Nexus 5X 32GB Smartphone from LG. This smartphone features a hexa-core 1.8 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and 2 GB of RAM. It also comes equipped with 32GB of storage. The integrated USB Type-C interface allows you to connect the device for mass-storage purposes, data transfer, and also serves as a fast-charging port.

The Nexus 5X houses a 5.2" IPS LCD display, which is designed to deliver robust imagery and color depth. Its 1920 x 1080 native screen resolution lets you watch Full HD content without pixel loss. Additionally, the Nexus 5X features a powerful dual-camera array: a 12.3MP rear camera with a pixel capture size of 1.55 µm and f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front-facing lens. The rear camera's larger pixel size is designed to absorb more light, producing sharp photos even in low-light conditions.

The Nexus 5X is also well-equipped for wireless communication. It features Bluetooth v4.2 technology for pairing with other Bluetooth-enabled devices and 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi for high-speed Internet connectivity. NFC technology is built-in and enables you to connect to compatible devices for wireless content sharing. GPS with GLONASS is also on-board for using Google Location and Maps services. The Nexus 5X is equipped with a 2700mAh battery, which can deliver up to 4 hours of use from only 10 minutes of charging.

Note: The LGH790 is the North American Variant of the Nexus 5X. It will run on any GSM network that uses cell frequencies supported by the device, including AT&T and T-Mobile. It will also work with certain CDMA carriers, such as Verizon and Sprint. Current Verizon SIM cards can be transferred to the new device, though the carrier may limit the purchase of new SIM cards for unlocked phones. Since this device is unlocked, functionality for certain carrier-specific features cannot be guaranteed. Please confirm with your carrier that it supports the Nexus 5X before purchasing.

GSM + CDMA / 4G LTE Wireless Connectivity
This phone is designed to work on select GSM and CDMA networks and is 4G LTE capable. LTE is an advanced cellular network data protocol capable of data speeds so fast that they compete with wired broadband internet providers. With an LTE connection, this phone should have no problem streaming HD video, downloading apps, uploading photos, or anything else that requires a high-speed data connection. The phone is also backwards compatible with 3G and 2G data for instances when you can't get LTE. In addition to cellular wireless, this phone also features Bluetooth, NFC, and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Note: Not compatible with all cellular networks. Please make sure your provider uses a frequency or band that this phone supports, and that they will allow you to used carrier unlocked phones. You can check which bands this phone works within the Specifications.
North American Variant / US Compatible LTE
The LGH790 is a US variant of the Nexus 5X. The LGH790's LTE radio is tuned to frequencies that are most often used in the United States and North America. It can also be used in other parts of the world, however LTE access may be limited or unsupported, depending on the network. To ensure this phone will work with your carrier please check to make sure the frequency your carrier uses is supported by this phone. The full list of compatible carrier frequencies can be found here, the frequencies this phone supports can be found in the product specs.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow
The Android operating system integrates heavily with Google's services. Using the card-based Google Now, Android quickly surfaces information for you whenever you need it, powered by the same Knowledge Engine that runs Google's web search. It's a personalized and customizable OS, allowing you to add your favorite apps or widgets to your homescreen. You can even download new themes using the Google Play Store, which offers access to more than one million apps, games, books, music, movies, and more. Android 6.0 Marshmallow overhauls permissions, allowing you to have finer control over what your applications have access to. It also marks the debut of Now on Tap, a context-sensitive update to Google Now that checks your current screen for keywords and then searches for them automatically. Other performance and security enhancements are included as well.
Powerful Dual Cameras
The Nexus 5X's enhanced camera array excels in low-light conditions. The rear lens's larger 1.55μm pixels capture more light in all conditions to produce vivid details and sharp images.
Nexus Imprint
Built into the back of your device to accommodate the way you hold it, the Nexus Imprint fingerprint reader will turn on your screen with one touch, unlock your apps quickly, and let you breeze through checkout lines with Android Pay support.
USB Type-C
The USB Type-C charger is reversible, which means no more guessing which way is up. It also enables fast charging—you get almost four hours of use after only ten minutes of charging.

    LG LGH790 Reviews

Google Nexus 5X 32GB Smartphone (Unlocked, Black) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 358.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lasted 1 month I sweat on this phone and it rendered it liquid damaged. I couldn't believe the bad customer service that I received from LG. The must have told me that they were sorry 100 times, but there was nothing that they could do for me. I sent it is as instructed and was without a phone for about 2 weeks. When I called they told me that they were waiting for a part because there was a defect in the heating element, but then I received an email telling me that it was being shipped back unrepairable. I did like the feel of the phone- it was smooth on the back, but rougher on the sides so that you could easily grip it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great balance of features Great device, especially for the price ($260 for 32GB at the time of writing). I've been using an Alcatel Idol 3 5.5 for the past year and 5X feels more refined and snappier in every respect. Maybe somewhat slippery in hand without a case, but the promotion included one, so that's taken care of in tricky situations (running around, otherwise I have using cases). Looks nicer in hand than on the photos. Camera can shoot DNG in all the apps that support it. The included charging cable is a USB-C -on both ends- so you might want to get a different cable or an adapter if you're planning to tether your phone to a computer or use a different charger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pure Android at its best Upgraded from LG G2 to find another spectacular piece of hardware from LG. Though the display on other LG phones are better i am okay with the less contrasty display since i get a better battery life. Noticed that during notification, the screen lights up in a power saving grayscale mode to save power. The phone build feel sturdy and not cheap being plastic. The camera and fingerprint scan are spot on. My battery lasts for a complete day unlike other reviews i read online but depends on you usage pattern. But with the rapid charging feature i get my phone half charged in 15 min. Hope LG makes another nexus in future when i am ready to upgrade again

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good smartphone This phone is probably the best mid-priced smartphone, but not as good as Samsung Galaxy. A good way to start the transition to type-C USB. On Project Fi (Google's wireless service), the phone works very well but Google has you jump through hoops to figure out how to treat Google Voice numbers (if you have one) and you have to wait 3-5 business days for the SIMS card to arrive (after you request it, which is after you get the invitation) if you don't buy the phone directly from Google Store. I imagine there is no hassle if you're just going to use a major carrier (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, etc.). I am quite pleased overall with the smartphone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good deal for $. Usb type-C charger may be a problem - for $ with free overnight shipping to the door was great!- most bank applications do not trust to android fingerprint. in IPhone you can login/pay just by finger touch.- fingerprint is faster than IPhone 5s, same as IPhone 6s- everything become even more bundled to Google- usb type-C to usb type-C on regular 110-240V power adapter),- No regular usb type-A charger in the box. Need to buy additionally to charge in car for instance.- battery is going down faster than iphone 5s, iphone6s- photo sphere camera option is nice- photo/video camera looks better than samsung S6, Note4, despite megapixels and other formal tech stuff, but still worse than IPhone 5,6 .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Phone! Great phone for Nexus Lovers. As always, the price of having an unlocked phone are a few weaknesses done on purpose like less battery time and a camera that's not as good as it's competitors - but in return you get a clean Android that's super fast and runs smoothly. Constant updates from Google and an overall excellent experience. Unlike other phones that a year after coming out become old - this one keeps being upgraded ( For two product cycles I hear) - so the phone will stay up to date for about 3 years from it's launch. For the price - nothing really can compete with it. For clean Android users this is the phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just works! Future-Proof Phone I have been using an older Droid Maxx for quite a while and needed an upgrade but could never find a phone that has it all. This Nexus 5X is future proof by including a super fast processor, plenty of ram, and a finger-print scanner that is snappy, responsive, secure, and saves you a ton of time and frustration. This is a bare-bones Google endorsed product (said in the most loving way) because it just works whenever you pull it out of your pocket. It's not bogged down with stupid apps and games that can't be removed. It's not loaded with dumb gimmicks and widgets and layers of software that will slow it down. It's a Google phone with an incredible (and fast) camera, processor, and will receive the latest updates immediately. A few minor issues with this phone are the lack of expandable memory, horrible mono front facing speaker, and new USB C charging port. The USB C charging port is actually a future-proof item since all new phones will start to incorporate this because of it's speedy charging and data transfer capabilities. Just be warned that all your micro-usb cables will need to be gifted to someone else in need or you'll have to buy yourself some new adapters to accommodate the charging port. The battery on this phone is smaller than I would have hoped but it lasts surprisingly long (easily a day or day and a half) and charges really really quickly. I'm very particular with my phones since it's something I use every single day. Also, the Carbon black looks great, feels solidly built and has a soft-coating that gives it a nice grip to it. Other phones like iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S6 are all glass, slippery, and break easily when banged around. Therefore, I'm happy to say I'd recommend this to any Android user who wants a reliable, quick, easy, and future-ready smartphone. Get it while you can at an unbelievable price. B&H customer service was great and I received my phone very quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The 'x' for extra for the Nexus 5x Owned a Nexus 5 before this, which I loved. Now upgraded to the Nexus 5x. And it is definitely an upgrade. Neither of the phones is perfect. The 5x feels a bit cheapish buildwise, the camera is still not great and the sound is okay. Like my Nexus 5, it occasionally stutters when loading things. But the screen is quite an improvement, with better color accuracy and it is a little larger. The fingerprint scanner is incredibly fast and the battery is much better (at least for now). But the main reason why I love it, is because it has that same thing as the Nexus 5: native Android without bloatware and with immediate updates when available. All at a very reasonable price.

Is the return policy on this item - the standard 30-day return policy, during the current (Black Friday) promotion? Reason I ask: Google Store's current return policy extends through January 22, 2016, i.e. almost two months.
    Asked by: Alex
As a courtesy during the busy holiday season, we have extended our usual 30-day limit on returns and exchanges. Purchases made between November 1, 2015 and January 1, 2016 may be returned or exchanged through February 1, 2016 (or 30 days from date of purchase, whichever is longer).
