The Ezybox Speed-Lite 2 from Lastolite is a quick and easy way to create a soft, flattering quality of light from your on-camera flash. The key feature is the inclusion of inner and outer diffusers for softness, a step not usually taken with softboxes in the 8.6 x 8.6" size. Mounting is simple. Lastolite has introduced a simple silicon strap with a tensioning dial for a fast, easy, and secure attachment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! Very good results! My first foray into speed boxes was with a version of them from Westcott. It was a good product but the light compartment kept collapsing during use. Next purchased the forerunner to this product which is heavier and a bit larger but does not fold up without some distortion. This box works as well or better than the others and is lighter and thinner when folded. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, Well Designed, Functions Perfectly Have had this out in the field twice so far; once, using it with fill flash shooting into the sun; once, fairly close for a portrait under open shade. Was a little concerned at first that the diffuser was warming the color balance of my flash Nikon Speedlight SB 900, shooting with a Nikon D700), but that was more probably an issue of the flash vs. direct sun. A little bit of adjustment with exposure compensation fixed this. Also, this diffuser drops the flash output by 2 EV units; but I just boosted the flash output by that amount, and it worked perfectly as a fill flash. Shot some fairly close up portraits today under open shade (a small canopy-type tent on a sunlit street) and there was absolutely no highlighting of hot spots on the model's face; so this unit is definitely doing exactly what I wanted to see it do. The unit itself is very well constructed, light, and appears very durable. I did a fair bit of research before choosing this type and model, and I am very pleased with this flash diffuser. It's the first one I've used, and I will be bringing it with me whenever I take my flash along!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for small subjects I use this softbox to photograph small orchids in the field. I like the quality of light produced by this little soft box. In close, it produces large, diffuse highlights and soft shadow edges. It is very efficient. I'm getting faster cycle times from one SB800 and this softbox than I was with two SB800s and a shoot-through umbrella. The softbox is very easy to setup and put away. I can't think of a better softbox for photographing small subjects in the field.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for insect photography I use this for outdoor insect photography with the flash used off-camera. It is a very clever design and folds down easily into a nice little bag. I learned about it from the experts on the course Bugshot and like it as part of my toolkit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Slick and Effective I use the Ezybox Speed-Lite 2 for wildflower photography and I'm very impressed! The unit folds and unfolds so easily and attaches effortlessly to the flash. It's brilliant, actually! Also, the diffused light from the Ezybox is dramatically softer than from the bare flash itself. There are two layers of diffusion fabric, an external one and an optional internal one. I use both. The light output of the flash is significantly reduced, of course, but that's no problem for wildflower macro photography.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Step up your game. Hi. I have a lot of speedlight modifiers and I saw this one at the Photo Expo here in NYC so I got one. It is very light weight and it folds flat. The connection to the speedlight is very secure which is a big plus. Now to the light. The light it gives is very nice. You have to consider how big it is compared to the bare strobe or the frosted plastic flash head cover that comes with speedlights. The larger the light source the softer the light can be. The entire Ezybox sits high on the flash so the bottom of it doesn't block the IR projector on the front of the flash unit. It's the kind of thing that has little impact on your shooting style but yields great results. It's still on camera with that off camera feel to the light, at least compared to the more popular options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is my go to hotshoe mount flash softbox. This is my go to soft box for my shoe mount flash. It is so well designed that the sensors are still exposed so TTL metering works and I can use wireless flash that still needs line of sight visibility. Everything is contained in the softbox, no extra velcro bands are needed. Plus the two part diffuser lets me make the decision for more or less diffusion or more or less light output. Would I buy it again? I now own two.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Direct Flash While browsing for a good Speedlite softbox since most event shoots have had high ceilings, I've been using direct flash since there was no other way. Having tested this item, I can say that it is exactly how the other reviews have stated. Light, easy to assemble, and it has TWO layers of diffusion which makes the light softer than regular portable softboxes. Highly recommend if you have to be shooting direct flash when there's no ceilings or walls to bounce off of.
