Mitakon Zhongyi 135mm f/2.8 overview

  • 1Description

A bright telephoto prime featuring an updated optical design, the Creator 135mm f/2.8 Mark II Lens from Mitakon Zhongyi is compatible with Canon EF mount full-frame and APS-C-format DSLRs. One extra-low dispersion element is incorporated within the design, and helps to markedly reduce chromatic aberrations for increased clarity, sharpness, and color accuracy when photographing in strong lighting conditions. The f/2.8 maximum aperture also benefits working in difficult lighting and also affords greater control over depth of field for using selective focus techniques.

The robust metal barrel of the lens is complemented by depth of field and distance scales, which pair with the manual focus design for greater control and use of pre- and zone focusing techniques. Additionally, the physical design also incorporates a retractable lens hood that helps to minimize lens flare and ghosting.

Prime telephoto Canon EF mount lens designed for both APS-C and full-frame sensors. On APS-C-sized sensors, the 35mm-equivalent focal length will be 216mm.
One extra-low dispersion element is incorporated within the six elements, six groups design, and helps to reduce chromatic aberrations for sharper, clearer image quality.
Manual focus design is complemented by both depth of field and distance scales for utilizing pre-focusing techniques.
A built-in retractable lens hood helps to shield the front lens element from stray light to prevent lens flare and ghosting.

    Mitakon Zhongyi 135mm f/2.8 reviews

Creator 135mm f/2.8 Mark II Lens for Canon EF is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A nice lens at a great price I purchased this lens to do wide field astrophotography. I had to return the first one, as it would not reach focus at infinity. But the second lens they sent me is very good! It has some chromatic aberration, otherwise I might have given it 5 stars, but it has virtually no coma, all the way out to the edges of my APS-C sized chip, even wide open at f/2.8. The attached image of the North American and Pelican nebulae was shot at f/4, which I felt was a tad bit sharper and worth the extra time, but it might have been OK at f/2.8 as well. A nice little lens. Feels very solid, the focusing is nice and stiff, so no focus drift, as is the click-stop f-stops. It also does not seem to have any vignetting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good backup lens I shoot primarily video, and this is a pretty good backup telephoto lens. This isn't my go to, but useful when I pair it with my 70-200mm for dual telephoto angles. The lens itself feels solid. I like that it is all manual aperture and focus.
