Garmin vivosmart HR overview

  • 1Description

Stay active and connected with the regular-sized vívosmart HR Activity Tracker with Wrist-Based Heart Rate Monitor in midnight blue from Garmin. This model fits wrists 5.4 to 7.4" around. It tracks the number of steps you've taken, your distance traveled, calories burned, floors climbed, and more, and displays it all on its 1" touchscreen. Additionally, the vívosmart HR uses built-in Elevate technology to continually measure your heart rate, which helps it better quantify your activity intensity level and subsequent calorie-burning.The vívosmart HR also tracks time slept and functions as an alarm clock. When connected to compatible devices via Bluetooth Smart, vívosmart HR transmits your activity to the free Garmin Connect mobile app while displaying phone call, text, and email notifications on the wristband's touchscreen.

vívosmart HR is designed to motivate wearers towards better fitness and an active lifestyle. It will notify you if you spend over an hour without moving around and learns your activity level before assigning daily goals that adjust over time as you progress. Goals are rewarded with virtual badges on Garmin Connect, where you can join online challenges with other users or earn bragging rights in a competition with friends.

The vívosmart HR's battery lasts for up to 5 days, and the device is water resistant to 164'. A charging/data clip is included.

Wrist-Based Heart Rate
The vívosmart HR uses Elevate wrist heart rate technology to continually measure your heart rate at the wrist. That means you have the freedom to work out without an additional heart rate strap. Using heart rate, vívosmart HR provides calories burned information and quantifies the intensity of your fitness activities.
Smart Notifications
Stay connected with vívosmart HR activity tracker. Any time you receive a notification from your compatible smartphone, the vívosmart HR will gently vibrate and automatically display the information. Simply touch and swipe the screen to read more.
Beat Yesterday
vívosmart HR assigns an attainable daily step goal based on your activity history. As you meet and surpass your milestones, it will adjust your goal for the next day, gradually pushing you toward a healthier lifestyle. Throughout your day, vívosmart HR reminds you to stay active with a move bar and sends a vibration alert if you've been inactive for an hour.
Garmin Connect
The vívosmart HR automatically syncs with your smartphone throughout the day to save your stats to Garmin Connect, Garmin's free online community. At Garmin Connect, you can save, plan, and share your activity data. You can also connect with other users to challenge and compete. For detailed calorie tracking, you can create an account at MyFitnessPal and link it to your Garmin Connect account. This allows you to compare calories consumed to total calories burned, which vívosmart HR records throughout the day, giving you a more comprehensive view of your health and the impact of your daily activity.

    Garmin vivosmart HR reviews

vivosmart HR Activity Tracker with Wrist-Based Heart Rate Monitor (Regular, Midnight Blue) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I recommend this fitness tracker I am not a athlete but I am working on getting healthier. I did some research on different fitness trackers and this one met my needs the most. I liked the other reviews in how easy this garmin hr was to use and to link up on my phone app. It's not just water resistant but I don't have to worry about getting it wet when washing dishes or washing the car. It does great on tracking my steps and even on going up and down stairs. It is a motivator for me to keep moving, in my work I do sit a lot at the computer but I do get up and down a lot and do a lot of walking around my work. So it's easy to see if I met my goal for the day or went over it. It let's me know if I have a call or text or fb notice. It will also track your sleep hours. It took a little getting use to wearing just above the wrist bone, but now I don't even notice. It's easy to read and use!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't last the warranty period, don't waste your money Sure it is water resistant and sweatproof, but the cheap plastic strap with the thinnest spring-bars possible holding on the buckle will break before the warranty period is up. Not during strenuous activity mind you, like while walking along a busy street or while brushing your teeth. The display has a cheap coating, which was easily scratched by the cuff on a cotton shirt. So, not exactly the roughest surface in the world. Garmin's customer service is not very good either, so getting it repaired/replaced is a nightmare. I'm now having to buy a competing product, because the one I've had for 7 month is dead, without a replacement in sight. Do not buy this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Screen too dim Overall it is a pretty good device. Some of the smartphone integration is limited- text notifications for example are just too small too read unless you're in bright daylight. Frankly, much of it is too dim unless you are in bright light. They need to allow the user to select a higher maximum brightness and suffer the battery hit if necessary. Stay away if you need reading glasses at all... just too small and dim.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It! I have had the tracker for about three weeks now and I could not be more pleased about it's accuracy ease of use and usefulness. I have found the heart rate monitor to be as accurate as you can expect a wrist worn monitor to be. The step count is remarkably accurate. I wore it for a run and it came in only about a .1 of a mile off which is fine with me. If I needed exact data I would have gotten a GPS device. I really enjoy the silent alarm that wakes me without disturbing my wife. I was concerned as for the first few days there was some discomfort when wearing the band. However, with time the discomfort has passed and now I barely notice the device on my wrist. There was a software update last night that added some additional functionality. I expect the device will only continue to get better as they continue to improve the software. I would highly recommend the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Garmin vivosmart HR is an OUTSTANDING product I use the vivosmart HR primarily for fitness tracking (as intended). It is very accurate as I have used a GPS watch and pedometer to confirm the reading. The product is very great and not as bulky as some. The watch band is very comfortable and is easily secured. It has a built in heart rate monitor and you can track various activities i.e. running, cycling, swimming, etc. Most activity trackers are only water resistant and you may only shower with it. The vivosmart HR is waterproof to 5 ATM, which absolutely distinguishes itself from any other kind of activity tracker in its field. The only cons to this product is that it has a media player capability, yet does not have a volume control function as the previous and lesser model vivosmart has and the battery doesn't last quite as long since I'm an active user of the product(usually 3-4 days with HR monitoring and all other functions on). I submitted an idea request to Garmin to see if that can be changed and was told that they'd look into how to implement that. Despite the battery issue, it only takes an hour or two to recharge, so that's not that bad of an impact if you just throw it on a charger when you're being sedentary. All in all, this is an outstanding product that I am happy to have purchased.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not perform as expected I got this activity tracker because I wanted a Heart Rate monitor and it was supposed to be very good - but I have been very disappointed with the Heart Rate Monitor it is very erratic during any exercise and does not reflect the real heart rate - bouncing between 62 to 135 and not reliable indicator - also the stair capture does not work well I have tried it several times and it does not register stair climbing - there are no directions that tell you how to use it with a bicycle even though you are supposed to be able to -have not figured that out yet - the step tracker seems to work ok but without the Heart Rate monitor I have not been happy with the results - I also found that it does not fit on my arm very well tends to want to rotate around my arm even though I strap it on pretty tight above the wrist where recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product like all Garmin products I think the heart rate is a great feature. I think this activity tracker will help to get me more active. Good battery life, easy to read. Very easy to set up with apple phone. Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice fitness tracker After using the Vivosmart HR for a week, I can say that I like it and have had no problems with it. Integration into Garmin Connect is a plus (I'm already a user), battery life is good (at least 4 days without charging) and it's waterproof. I like the alarm clock feature and notifications -- something I didn't think I'd want. It's also a plus that you can easily control your smartphone's music player and see the weather forecast.
