I only use this when in extremely dusty or wet conditions where cleaning the lens happens frequently. I would rather put the wear on this filter than the lens. Good glass, no degradation in image quality.

B&W filters generally have brass rings, unlike the aluminum for other brands, and spin on more smoothly. Optically excellent.

question

Good MorningMy question is very simple. Generally are UV Haze Filters, like this one, also recommended for HD CAMCORDERS wide lenses ? Or you recommend another one ?Carlos
Asked by: Anonymous
You may use UV Haze filters on both still cameras and camcorders alike. However, the B+W 72mm UV Haze SC 010 Filter listed above would be a good recommendation for cameras that have a 35mm film full-frame focal length equivalent of 24mm or longer (to prevent vignetting). If the lens you own has a full-frame equivalent focal length wider than 24mm, then a slim filter would be recommended for use. As such, for wider lenses, I would instead recommend either the B+W 72mm UV Haze Slim MRC 010M Filter, B&H # BWUVMCS72, or the B+W 72mm XS-Pro UV MRC-Nano 010M Filter, B&H # BWUVXSP72.

that really shouldn't be a question. these UV haze filters by B+W are simply the best, and are brilliant for any lens, so long as it fits you lens mm filter thread size.

question

Will this fit on a Polaroid SX-70?
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately, the Polaroid SX-70 does not have a filter thread on its lens, so you would not be able to use the 28mm filter with the camera.

This is a UV filter as opposed to a variable ND filter or Circular Polarizer which have an adjustment ring in front.

Would this be recommended for use indoors?

Would this be recommended for use indoors?
Asked by: Alestair
Theoretically it could degrade image quality but I have not observed this with B+W filters. I really like theme because I'm not worried about wiping down and cleaning the haze filter, whereas I try not to contact the lens's front optic. For some lenses (like Canon 17-40mm) it also has the benefit of "sealing" the lens so dust isn't sucked in as the optic moves.

question

Does It fit in front of a Sigma 300-800 EX DG ?
Asked by: Anonymous
No it does not. The front of the Sigma 300-800 EX DG lens is not threaded to be able to accept any type of conventional screw-on front filter. It has a special 46mm filter holder in the rear of the lens.
