    Swann DVR8-4600 reviews

    Pro-Series 8-Channel 1080p DVR with 2TB HDD and 8 1080p Bullet Cameras is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Stuff Good product. Good Price. Easy set-up. In this day and age of gimmicks, it is a pleasure to purchase an item at a reasonable price and have it perform what you are asking of it. At the price I have two additional cameras, either for an additional location or as back-up in the event of a future problem or someone breaking it. I recommend this product without hesitation. I understand that the cameras are not standard configuration and interchangeable as are the much more expensive cameras; but as price was an important consideration - and the extra cameras (for my set-up) made up for that possible future shortcoming. I am content with the product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Customer Service is Lacking Carefully consider choosing this product. One-day after completing the install, 1 of the 8-Pro HD cameras failed. I called tech support twice, spent about 1.5 hours on hold, and 4-days later I was mailed an RMA. One month has past since the install, and still no replacement camera. Ive called customer service 3 times and could not get status on the replacement. I sent an email via the Swann web site support link and the following day received a reply that the cameras were out of stock and said hopefully we will receive new product within the next weeks. Why customer service didnt mention the stock situation during earlier calls is confounding. Based on what I see online, their stock situation has not interrupted sales.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Camera Defective - Mounting Brackets Cheap! Purchased this for our office, one of the cameras was defective and we contacted B&H for a return. (one camera) One of their customer service reps stated they would mail us a new camera and we would need to ship the defective one back - no problem- we waited for a week without a replacement camera shipped to us only to find out with a call on 10-5-16 that we needed to return the defective camera first which is NOT what the customer rep told me, the 1 star review is for poor customer service communication from B&H + the defective camera and super cheap mounting brackets that we could not use when installing the camera. The other 7 cameras seems to be ok.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Security Protection! After researching many video surveillance systems I ended up with the Swann Pro-Series. The live feed & recording capability along with the phone app. I can check on my house anywhere and anytime. Easy to follow instructions the installation was a breeze. After the install I couldn't get the cameras video on my t.v. I called the customer service department around 9 p.m. and they were still there! The tech walked me thru it which turned out to be the resolution setting on my t.v. Great night time vision too. I feel much better after installing this system. Very happy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install & Set The equipment was delivered on time and in perfect conditions. Very easy to install and the set up was very simple. The quality is great for the price, both equipment quality and image. The only thing that I wish to have is an owners manual with a better explanation on how to set up the equipment and to help understanding all functions available with this equipment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value, but somewhat lacking in night vision The cameras installed easily and the only issue I ran into during setup was that the default HDMI video output is configured for PC monitors so I couldn't see the dashboard with it hooked up to my TV. This was easily resolved with the remote administration tools that I could run from my computer, but it was not easy to determine that this was the problem. The daytime video quality is excellent and the 1080p resolution makes picking out details easy. However at night, the built-in IR illuminators don't quite do the job for my house. Living far out in the country, the absence of additional light and wide open spaces, means that the built-in IR emitters just don't throw enough light to fully illuminate their view, even out to the rated 100ft distance. Additionally, for cameras that are near exterior lights, they have a difficult time seeing into the shadows left by the flood lights and I've had to make a number of adjustments to cut down on glare from the lights into the cameras. The low light performance also leads to a lot of false positives on motion tracking. I've seen this reported by others as well, and they report it can be fixed by auxiliary IR illumination. Overall, it does a pretty good job for my needs, and the ability to remotely check the live feed of my cameras from anywhere that I have cell service gives a good peace of mind, but I'll need to invest in additional IR illumination if I want to improve the night vision capabilities.
