The B+W 46mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission, each glass surface includes eight layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features an F-Pro brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

This UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

46mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 81.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality that stands out I have several UV, polarizing and ND filters made by Tiffen, Hoya and Cokin but this is my first B+W filter. There is an obvious quality difference just in holding this filter. Though it's only a 46mm it feels more substantial than my 52 and 55mm filters. I always keep it on my Panasonic 20mm f1.7 lens for protection and I've noticed no adverse effects on my photos. It did seem to reduce haze on a few landscape photos I used as a test but it's mainly for lens protection. The glass on this filter does not seem to attract dust as much as the others I've used either. Though it is pricey, I may be buying more B+W filters now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have bought this produce over and over I use these filters on most of my lenses (a few lenses are not set up for filters). The optical quality is state of the art and the protection they provide is priceless. They have saved several of my lenses from ruin, like the time an elderly woman smoking, turned around and ran her cigarette into my Leica 24mm (the filter needed replaced from the burn). The brass threads have never locked (corroded) onto any lens either. (aluminum and base metal filters have done this) The MRC coating is far better at controlling flair than single coated filters when used in backlit and side lit situations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job I bought this filter to protect my Lumix/Leica 25mm f1.4 lens. This is a very good lens so I bought, what is reputed to be, a very good filter. I am not sure it is that much better than most other mulit-coated filters but it was fairly inexpensive for B&W so I bought it. It stays on for protection most of the time but I remove it from time to time when practical. I often shoot in demanding environmental conditions and it offers cheap insurance against lens damage. I own many lenses, most with filters in place for protection. I have rarely had flare or other problems with a filter (I don't buy the really cheap ones) in place that didn't also happen when it was removed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from B+W UV Haze Filter I use the filter on my Leica Summilux 50mm, f1.4 lens. I simply thought the Leica filter was too expensive and there would be little discernable difference. I have used B+W filters with my Canon 1Ds Mk III lenses as well as the Contax 645 system. I have been satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect protection for lens I buy this filter for protecting my Panasonic 20mm f1.7 lens. It works well. It doesn't affect the quality of photo or create the dark corner around the photo. And it's easy to clean!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Filter To Protect My Leica Lens Why spend a ton of money on a high-quality lens then skimp on a filter to protect it? I used to work at an Optics company where we only used the highest quality glass from Schott in Germany, the same substrate that B+W uses for these lenses. It costs a little more, but is definitely worth it. This filter is solidly constructed, has good heft (thanks to the all-brass ring, which doesn't expand, stick or contract depending on the weather) & is completely clear and distortion free. Thought about purchasing Hoya, but after finding out it can become difficult to clean due to lower quality glass and/or coating, I decided it wasn't worth it since I didn't want to lower the overall optical quality with a second rate filter for the lens this was being used to protect. This was the perfect UV filter to help protect the odd sized Leica f2.0 lens on my LX3. I never take it off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very solid, worth the money I took the plunge and (based on forums' comments) bought 3 of these: 37, 46 and 58mm for each of my M4/3 lenses. The moment I took them out of the box I realized it was a money well spent. Very solid feeling brass ring. Construction as thin as possible, yet as wide and solid as needed for operating. Has thread on the outside and the lens-cap snaps on it without problems. I intend to keep it on the lens at all times as a protector, so I did some shooting test: in low light at home, took same distance ant setting pictures to compare the exposure settings in automatic regime. No change with or without the filter - thus the filter doesn't affect the brightness of the lens at all or the effect is negligible. Very happy, highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superlative quality glass B+W Filters are simply the best. If you have invested hundreds of dollars in in a lens why put a cheap filter in front of it. I have done tests comparing filters of another major manufacturer with B+W and the results were unassailable. The B+W was clearly superior. This multi coated UV haze filter will make a difference to your photos, they will have more clarity and snap, particularly exteriors. Well worth the extra dollars.
