The B+W 72mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission, each glass surface includes eight layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features an F-Pro brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

This UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money Got this lens filter after buying the 18-200 and getting a cheap UV filter from a local store because thats all they carry just to hold me over until i ordered a nice one. I took off the cheap filter and could see my reflection and the glass inside was noticeable. Held both filters up to the light and a mirror and was awestruck. This filter is literally invisible, and you have to try to get any sort of reflecting or ghosting. I have been very very happy with it after skeptically spending this much on a filter alone but its true, your lens is only as good as its weakest piece of glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from B+W MC the best DSLR lenses protection Any filter is something what influences your photos in a bad way, especially if a filter is not good enough. I prefer to not use filters for cheap lenses at all. And if you want some protection for good expensive lenses, search for best filters you can afford, because expensive lens + cheap filter = sometimes picture like from a cheap zoom. B+W MC is one of very few the best on the digital photography market. I bought one for each of my Canon L lenses for protection: good protection and no influence on pictures.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from UV Filter on a lens for a digital camera There has been a lot of debate over whether a UV/Haze filter is necessary for digital photography. The consensus seems to be that it is not needed to cut down on UV light -- digital camera sensors aren't affected by UV as was film. The real question is do you need this filter to protect your front lens element? The answer depends on what you use the lens for -- if outside action work, where the lens could be bumped or scratched (with or without a sunshade), then probably yes. Or use a high quality clear filter. I bought this for a Nikon 105mm DC lens, so will be using it for portrait work. In retrospect, I don't need it. But it's very high quality glass!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid, well built filter I had originally bought a cheap un-coated filter for my 28-135IS Canon lens but was noticing a lot of flare/glare and poor quality images. After this filter, I'm seeing a distinct improvement. Unfortunately, between filters I didn't cover the front of my lens with anything, except the cap when I wasn't using it, and now there is a small scratch on the outside of the glass. One nice feature about this filter that others I have owned didn't have is a deep enough thread for the lens cap to snap down onto completely. I've had others where the cap can't be seated fully and gets knocked off from time to time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Go-To for UV Filters =] I own a variety of sizes of this particular filter from B+W for the dozens of lenses I've accumulated over time. What separates this particular filter from all the other filters I could've chosen from is the quality of the glass AND the quality of the frame. This frame feel almost robust and solid, when you've handled a variety of other filters for the same purpose. I've actually dropped a 49mm version once while cleaning and it fell about 3-4 feet but didn't crack or break. I feel very safe having one of these on any of my lenses, from the smallest mirrorless lens to the largest of DSLR lenses that I own. Image quality seems to be consistent among all of these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Void of Noticeable Optical Flaws Nice to have protection for expensive optics without the worry of introducing more optical problems. Coatings are very durable and make using imperfect cleaning materials to wipe off foreign items on the lens surface less trouble. Also, the threaded brass used for the filter ring doesn't allow the glass to move around in the ring like the cheaper brands snap rings always seem to do. Of course, if permanent damage occurs to the filter as a result of actually using your equipment, it's much easier, and less expensive than replacement of the lenses actual front element.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great filter I reviewed all the filter choices and read the reviews and experiences of others. This one is definitely more expensive, but after receiving and using it - I am thrilled with it! It is easy to keep clean, makes photos come out so much better than my old filter. I would recommend this filter to any one who is serious about photography - buy a great filter the first time instead of buying the cheaper ones - you will be happy you did!! Save your self the hassle of dust attraction associated with the other brand. This is the filter you need!!! Just buy it and you'll never be sorry - only happy with the results!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best that money can buy B+W is quite possibly the best filter that money can buy. The MRC coating is a must-have, because repeated cleanings on a plain multicoated filter will only wear out, but not the MRC coating. For only the best lenses out there, don't skimp. A cheap filter will defeat the purpose of great glass.
