    OKI MB472W reviews

MB472w All-in-One Monochrome LED Printer is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good. This Oki is for a home office business. I've only been using it for about a week so it's hard to write a coherent review yet but I'll include what I know. I bought it to replace a 4 year old Brother MFC 9340CDW that I really liked but (minor detail) the thing kept breaking down. Total page count was only 6200 and the second fuser roller went bad. I have a friend in the printer repair business who claims the Okidatas are bullet proof, plus I had a couple of their dot printers a while back that were absolutely indestructible. Hopefully they maintain that quality level in their LEDs. Printed images and text are very good. Only black and white, obviously, however I do very little color printing and have an ink jet for that anyway. There are a fair number of tweaks in the software for adjusting images, etc., that I haven't played with yet. Results from the default settings work well. The scanner does a nice job, and pretty quickly. Print speeds seem a bit slower than with the Brother, especially for the initial copy. It's fairly fast once it gets rolling but if the machine's been in sleep mode the warm up takes a full 15 seconds before the fan comes on, plus another 3 or 4 to actually print the first copy. I think I saw a setting to keep it in "ready" mode longer, haven't worked on that yet. The multi-purpose feeder is great. You can load a bunch of checks or envelopes, as opposed to the Brother's, which only took one sheet at a time. My only real beef with the Oki is that the software is not very user friendly. "Clunky" is the best I can describe it. The menus are confusing. You'll run across a setting once, spend time looking for it a day later and maybe not find it again. There are a couple of additional utility apps you can install that I haven't played with yet, maybe they help. There are a lot of buttons and menus on the machine itself to wade through. My wife hooked right up and printed from her iPad but I can't get my Android tablet to work, although that could be an age issue as it's fairly old. I'm not saying the software is terrible, just figure on a fairly long learning curve. If you have many casual users in your office you may spend more time teaching than you care to. To summarize; Good print quality, reasonable speed after initial warm up, not so great software. If the dependability measures up I'll be happy with this purchase.
