B+W 66-045076 overview

  • 1Description

The B+W 82mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission, each glass surface includes eight layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features an F-Pro brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

This UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

    B+W 66-045076 reviews

82mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 206.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Canon 16-35L II I was looking for a UV filter to leave on my Canon 16-35L II and choose this one over the 'slim' version since I didn't want to fumble with an aftermarket lens cap. The tradeoff is a slight bit of vignetting at 16mm which is easily removed in post production (although I tend to like the look in certain compositions). The filter threads are very smooth and mounts snugly to the lens. The glass is crystal clear and doesn't seem to effect the sharpness at all and is easily wiped clean with a microfiber lens cloth. Expensive? Yes--But so is the lens it's mounted on. If you're like me and want to be sure you're buying the right product the first time, rest assured that this UV filter fits the bill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Quality for the $$$ B&H Photo is one of the few places that you can readily get these specialty products. I am using the 82mm B+W (1A) pro filter on a Canon 24mm TSE II lens. The filter is extremely well made and the 1A version gives more clarity in the sky's. Attached to the filter is the Heliopan 82-95 step-up ring (#112). There is NO vignetting at any aperture with this combo. The front lens cap, i.e., the Hasselblad 95mm, works perfectly. All of these items are of the highest quality and compliment the new TSE Canon lens, which is the sharpest Canon lens that I own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from better than the Hoya HMC super I switched to B+W after growing dissatisfied with the Hoya HMC super filters I was using. The Hoya has a subtle warm cast and is slightly more prone to ghosting than the B+W. Don't get me wrong, the B+W will still ghost under the right circumstances, but it's nowhere near as bad as the Hoya. Flare troubles seem to be about the same. I have no idea how they compare in terms of durability (important, since I'm shooting in rough conditions a lot of the time), but the B+W is easier to clean than the Hoya was. I'll be interested to see how it looks after six months--after six months the 67mm Hoya I was using on my 100mm macro was covered with pinprick spots where the coating was chipped off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent if not faulty Solid quality, worked for two years but then filter glass got loose in its own ring and badly smudged my canon 24-70 f/2.8 Lii. Had to change front glass unit for over 400. I tried to tighten the inner ring but it got loose again. I complained to B+W and they replaced the filter after analyzing. I thought filters are for protection, just didn't know a filter can ruin your lens too. Be careful, every now and then keep checking if your filter is in good shape.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why would you get any other brand? I have one of these on all my lenses. In addition to cutting down on UV haze it's also great at protecting your lens. I've seen it first hand. 5Diii with a 70-200 dropped from chest level due to a strap malfunction. It landed lens first and cracked the filter but the lens was perfectly fine. As for the optical quality, it's top notch. I Haven't noticed any difference in exposure using this filter unlike cheaper ones. Why would you put a $$piece of garbage in front of your $$+ lens?!? Image quality is only as good as your worst piece of glass.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from serves it's purpose and that purpose isn't really to cut UV haze, because really that's never noticable with these anyway. It's REAL purpose is to protect the front element of your very expensive lens which would suck much more to repair than just replacing a cheap filter.I'm using it on a Canon 24-70mm f2.8 L MKII and it mounts smoothly and firmly. Does not create any noticable vinetting at the wide end or anything.it's a little pricier than other filters of the same basic specs, but it's built well and creates no noticable affect on image quality, so I'm not complaining about the few extra bucks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Have Accessory While studying the owners information on my recently purchased EF 16-35 f2.8L II lens, I noticed the statement that use of a filter was required to ensure the integrity of the weather proofing of the front of the lens. My past experience with B+W filters made the MRC 010M an obvious first choice. This filter attaches easily to the 16-35 lens and does not inhibit use of the lens hood. I have a number of other B+W filters for lenses of different sizes and all have been excellent. In my opinion, the quality and performance is worth the price you do get what you pay for!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For me, a must-have I use B+W MRC UV filters on every lens I have. I haven't experienced and substantial degradation in image quality. Personally I like having the piece of mind that my lens element is protected.
