Explore the great outdoors confident in the knowledge that your gear is safe and secure thanks to the black Alpine 600 Lens Backpack for DSLR and 600/800mm Lens from Ruggard. This well-made pack is designed to store and protect either an 800mm lens with hood or a DSLR with an attached 600mm lens. To secure the gear from unwanted movement and provide added cushioning, the Alpine 600 comes with a movable, padded, touch-fastening shelf and lens supports.

A robust assortment of interior and exterior pockets facilitates finding the perfect place for your accessories. On the front of the pack are two, zippered pockets with inner slip-in pockets for smaller items. And on one side of the pack is a large pocket with a touch-fastening flap and an interior slip-in pocket for more gear. Unzipping the main compartment with the dual zipper pulls reveals two memory card pockets and one clear-mesh pocket under the lid for items such as a wallet, filters and more.

On the opposite side of the Alpine are two, adjustable strap loops for securing the upper and midsections of a tripod and a cup with adjustable height for holding the tripod base. Best of all, the cup is removable for when you want a more streamlined pack. The airmesh padding underneath the shoulder straps, on the back panel, hip belt and lumbar support provide cushioning comfort, improved airflow and help wick-away unwanted moisture.

For comfort and easy carrying the Alpine 600 may be worn with the shoulder harness or carried with the padded carry handle. The shoulder straps are adjustable and feature a sternum strap for added stability and arm mobility. On longer journeys, an adjustable waist belt with padded hips helps reduce fatigue. And a yellow, quick-release buckle has a useful, integrated whistle for sounding an alarm or communicating with others. Underneath the pack are rubber feet to help resist abrasions while improving water resistance.

At the base of the pack near the bottom of the lumbar support is a zippered pocket for storing the included rain cover. This pocket features a strap for securing the rain cover from loss. For strength and durability, your Alpine 600 Backpack is made of quality materials such as heavy-duty nylon and airmesh padding.

Holds

Designed to store and transport a DSLR with an attached 600mm lens, or a select 800mm lens with hood.

Lens Protection

The two-piece padded lens support attaches with touch-fastening fabric on the inside of the pack for secure, movement-free transport. A padded lens bumper wraps around the end of the lens and hood for additional security. The base of the lens or camera receives additional protection with the use of a padded, movable, touch-fastening shelf.

Multiple Storage Pockets

Interior and exterior pockets help gear well-organized and handy. Two, zippered, front, exterior pockets with interior slip-in pockets, and one side pocket with a touch-fastening flap and inner slip-in pocket provide numerous storage options.

Tripod Storage

Two, adjustable, quick-release tripod strap loops on the side of the bag help secure the upper and midsections of your tripod. At the base of the pack is an adjustable cup for holding the bottom of the tripod. This cup is removable when not needed for a more streamlined set-up.

Padded Harness

The heavily padded, contoured shoulder harness conforms to the wearer's body and adjusts easily with a simple pull on the adjustment straps.

Won't Slip or Shift

The sternum strap keeps the shoulder harness snug and secure for added stability and comfort. Best of all, the strap enables wearer to move their arms and hands freely without worrying that the shoulder harness might slip off.

Waist Belt Strap

The wide, adjustable waist belt has airmesh padding at the hips for added comfort and stability.

Lumbar Pad

Airmesh padding at the base of the pack provides added lumbar support with cooling, cushioning comfort.

Airmesh Padding

Generous amounts of cushioning airmesh padding is employed on the underside of shoulder harness, upper back panel, lower lumbar support, and at the hips on the waist belt. These airmesh sections provide cooling comfort by helping to wick away moisture.

Rain Cover

Included with the Alpine 600 is a removable rain cover. The cover stores inside its own zippered pocket at the base of the lumbar padding on the lower rear of the pack. Photographers will appreciate the rain cover's quick-release security strap.

Whistle

Built into the sternum strap is a quick release buckle with an integrated, yellow whistle for summoning help and communicating with far off companions and others.

Ruggard Alpine 600 Reviews

Does its job.

I bought this backpack few months ago from B&H to use with my Sigma 500mm f/4 Sports lens. I usually have my Nikon D850 or Z7ii attached to the lens and hood on the lens, and it fits perfectly. It can fit also with extender attached but would like just a few mm more. Good extra pouches on the bag to carry along other small stuff, like extender, filter, extra memory cards etc. The straps on the bag are very comfortable for the shoulders and your waist. The only thing I kinda dislike is that the tripod straps are on the side. I wish it would be behind, it would be more stable and even more comfortable to carry along when you go for a hike with your gear to capture some beautiful wildlife. But over all, happy with this bag and I have a feeling it will serve me well for the coming years. Cheers from Iceland.

Well made and for the price worth it. There is room for improvement but then it probably would be priced higher. Overall it does the job, my Nikon 200 - 400 mm with 1.4 extension tube and FTZ II with Z9 are well secured and protected.

Enough Room and pretty comfortable

I use it with Sony A7RIV and FE 200-600 G lens. Enough room to fill in another body on top with wide angle or 70-200mm or my Gimbel. Pretty comfortable to walk reasonable distances. Fits in nicely. The camera body is well protected and a nice sleve between camera and lens for extra protection, but somehow the design of it means I need to pull the velco on and off each time I pull the lens as it too narrow for the hood to go through. Enough room for wallet, cleaning matterial and extra batteries. Did not go hiking with it for lengthy trips (lazy man) but I based on the few hours had it on the back, in flat area, seems to be more than just OK. For the price of it... am sorry didn't buy it earlier

Bag is working out perfectly. It fits my Sony 400 2.8 with hood on.. It great space in the front pockets and on the side. I keep a few cards, and a small compact camera in there. It's very conveniant to have to remove the hood everytime I want to bag it up..

Perfect

Great quality and perfect size. In fact the camera compartment is slightly larger than expected.

I got it for my Sony 600mm f4. I really like the price compared to the competition. It is not heavy, it is very compact and was recommended by Mark Smith for the same lens. So this was a big plus. However, for a few more cm in height it could hold the 600mm with hood and camera attached, which would avoid having to either remove the camera or reverse the hood. So yes, for those like me who wondered, you can put the lens with the hood attached without the camera, but it is tight or put the lens with the camera but the hood has to be reversed. You can put your camera on the side of the lens using the upper pad if you wan to keep the hood on and store your camera safely. Either way, you cannot get your camera easily out of the bag and shoot right away. It is also a little cumbersome to remove the camera and lens out of the bag as you have to undo some velcros. The provided bottom cushion is always coming with the lens when you pull so I had to remove it. The upper parts have to be also managed, awkwardly. The tripod straps are really made for a small tripod. I do understand that this backpack is to carry the lens, but with a few changes it could be awesome. Ruggard, please get to work on this. It is worth it! And the price is right as it has already been mentioned in some comments. And I still like it despite some of these shortcomings.

As with all Ruggard products, this backpack is very well padded and lots of room inside. It is very comfortable to carry even when fully loaded. I use it to carry a 200-600mm Sony lens and full frame camera it leave a 10 space at the top of the bag for additional equipment like a second camera. Lots of side pockets to store phone camera straps .. etc.

looking for a comfortable backpack to carry my ...

looking for a comfortable backpack to carry my Syrp Carbon Fibre slider, extensions and cameras in for hiking and this looks close with a 60cm long interior which is the exact length of the Syrp Carbon Fibre lengths. Can the interior compartments be replaced with other inserts? If so, do you know of any inserts that would go close to the full 60cm length so I could have the slider rails in one side and camera gear on the other? Looks as if there is a place for attaching a tripod externally on the right side. What about the left side and back, is there anyway to attach tripods or the like there?
Asked by: Dominic
You can add your own padding to the Ruggard lens back pack but this Syrp bag would be a better fit for your slider: https://bhpho.to/3uCWQor

26" on the exterior. Interior has Velcro adjustable padding and collar for the lens that allow space above to leave a camera mounted on the lens or gear storage above the lens. It also has a side pocket on the inside for basically thin and flat gear, paperwork, micro fiber cloths, etc..

question

Would this bag handle an 800mm lens with camera attached (1DX Mk2)?
Asked by: Angelo M.
On some level, it would depend on which 800mm lens you have. Though, as long as your lens isnt wider than 7.5 and the total length of the lens with the camera attached isnt longer than 24, you would be able to fit it in the Ruggard Alpine 600 with the 1DX attached.
