Combining excellent optical performance with ruggedness, portability, and comfort, the Diamondback 8x42 Binocular from Vortex Optics is ideal to take along on hiking trips, camping, traveling, or just in case. The optics feature improved transmission, contrast, and true color using fully multi-coated lenses and phase-corrected roof prisms. With the improved close focus of 5' you will get plenty of focusing range and a sharp focus on faraway scenery as well as close-ups of nearby street signs, monuments' details, or wildlife. The combination of 8x magnification and the 42mm objectives offers you a generous 60° angle of view that gives you complete images of targets.

The lightweight aluminum housing is purged with argon gas and sealed with O-rings to offer enhanced fogproof and waterproof performance. The short-hinge bridge is reduced in size, compared to previous generations of Diamondbacks, to cut overall weight and to expose more of the tubes' surface for easy holding. To ensure that you have a non-slip grip and tuning, the body, oversized focusing ring, diopter ring, and twist-up soft tapered eyecups have rubberized coverings. The focusing knob and the diopter ring also have knurling for easy use even with gloves on. Also included with the binocular are a carry case, neck strap, rain guard, and tethered objective caps.

Diamondback 8x42 Binocular is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from GOOD BUT NOT THE BEST This is a very good binocular for the price, but many reviewers over rate them, built quality is solid, 8*42 is the best size for any one except for shooting, field of view is good in 8 power and 42 objective lens will allow light to come in good proportion, 8 magnification will help to reach good distance without much bouncing, if you go for higher magnification have more bouncing kinda fuzzy. center resolution is good. detail is 80% edge to edge sharpness is 70% field curvature is minimized chromatic abrasion is prominent brightness and contrast is very impressive color tone is true tone impressive warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Sharp with a Wide View Bought both the Vortex Diamondback and Nikon Monarch 5 for travel. The contrast and sharpness are very comparable with Nikon a tag better. My husband likes the Vortex better as it fits his bigger hand and provides a wider field. I like the Monarch better because it fits my smaller hand and face and I prefer the slightly brighter image.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Snipers Perspective Needed A pair of Bino’s For an upcoming elk trip. Winters in the Wyoming mountains are not for the faint of heart so I know they needed to be durable and reliable among all other things. After testing many many options at the local hunting outfitter I decided on the Diamondback. The clarity was amazing. I was able to glass the snowy peaks for an hour before I needed to give my eyes a break. My uncle (lifelong hunter) asked to use them for a second and immediately said “wow”. He asked me if they were of another brand. (Rymes with Shmarshmoski). I laughed. Goes to show how much tender loving awesomeness goes into these things. Would recommend to a friend 10/10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great binoculars, bad BH I've got this one due to an amazing review in a bird watching website and have no complains so far. Really solid with an impressive clear view. Bad side in this order was not getting the announced giftcard because I'm not in US. It should be advertised in advance, quite frustrating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Buy for the Budget Hunter. I got these binoculars after searching for months for the best product for my budget. I do some wildlife observations for work as well as a lot of glassing for hunting. The 8x42 are the perfect size and weight, you can wear them all day. The rubberized finish is perfect for holding in cold or wet weather, and it seems to stick to my gloves like glue! I've never had the lens fog up, even when going from my warm vehicle to a cold tree stand. A good few months of not eating out or buying coffee and you can afford these. If not the Crossfires are a good second choice. Best buy for the budget hunter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard to beat for the price! So far I love these Binoculars. You really can not beat them for the price. BH photo sales prices during the holiday have been great. With a lifetime warranty to boot, you can feel confident purchasing these and having them for years to come. I opted for the 8x42 vs. the 10x because I liked the additional field of view. I highly recommend these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You get more then what you pay for! I picked up a pair of the 8x42’s for work an they are fantastic! I beat the heck out of these things. They are always tossed up in the dashboard of the truck, an often fall to the floor boards when in bad terrain. Been using them for over a year and they still hold up! The glass is often covered in dust, but a quick rub down from a glass cleaning wipe clears them right back up. Had the “vortex 8x42” sticker fall off from the focus knob and had the screws start to come loose, but tightened them back down an she runs good as new! Great bino’s for the price. Decent glass, and extreme durability!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better I've had my Diamondback 8x42s for 5+ years. They are as clear today as they were when I bought them. I have a competing brand (they also make cameras) in 10x42 and still prefer to use my Diamondbacks. I can see better at 8x than I can with 10x with theirs. Things I like about my Diamondbacks - durable - smooth adjustments - clear as day - quiet coating - light transmission is spectacular and works great with Vortex tripod accessory. I have a Vortex bino-keeper as well that I love. I can harness the binos close to my body. When I raise them to my face I don't have to worry they fold up skewing my view because the bino-keeper holds them in place. Great product that gives me confidence in the field and incredible warranty. Thanks Vortex.
