FotodioX C-700RSV Pro overview

  • 1Description

The 18" diameter C-700RSV FlapJack LED Bi-Color Edge Light from Fotodiox is a light source that uses Edgelight technology that entails pointing LEDs toward the outer edge of the fixture and reflecting them back toward the middle for ultra soft results. This versatile light also has color that's variable from 3200 to 5600K while maintaining a CRI of 91 to 93 for faithful rendition of colors and even the subtlest hues. It's dimmable as well from 10-100%. A back-lit LCD indicator shows light level, color temperature and battery life status. At only 1/2 inch thick the C-700RSV fits where other lights just can't go. And you can work close-up too, without fear of causing the talent discomfort since running the light all day at full power barely makes it warm to the touch.

The FlapJack can be used anywhere in the world thanks to its 110-240 VAC multi-voltage power adapter. The fixture also comes with two NP-F960 type batteries for total wireless freedom. The battery gets about 2 hours 11 minutes run time at full power. Besides battery and AC power options the FlapJack comes with a mounting yoke for a 5/8" light stand stud and a custom fitted case for storage and transport.

    FotodioX C-700RSV Pro reviews

C-700RSV FlapJack LED Bi-Color Edge Light (18") is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to carry and fast to setup I like this lights a lot. I did a review of these lights on my site, but basically they output a lot of light for interviews, you can change the temp easily and they are accurate in terms of color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to work with, versatile Bought two of these to replace older Cool Lights 600 LED lights with softboxes. Used them on two interview shoots in the first week I've had them. Things I like: - really fast setup without having to mess with a bulky softbox - my old lights were daylight with slide in filters. I love being able to dial in color temp, especially in situations where available light is somewhere between daylight and tungsten. Yesterday's gig had ambient light around 4600K, so it was a snap to match the lights to the scene and to each other. - packing cases are pretty well made and well padded to protect the contents. - solid construction, round frame and yoke are sturdy metal. - in addition to the two NP-F960 batteries, it comes with a 2-bay charger that works with my other equivalent Sony batteries (that I use for my small on-camera lights) - noticeably brighter than my old 500w equivalent Cool Lights. Things I'm not as pleased with: - AC power cords are stiff and have to be shoehorned into the carry case. The space for them inside the case is rectangular, so the cords have to be folded instead of using an over/under wrap, and that makes them more of a tripping hazard than they should be when laid out. A good flex with over/under wrap would help them lie flat on the floor and be easier to tape/place a rug over if needed. - cases are relatively large, 27x22x4, making them larger and bulkier to handle than the separate flat softbox case and light case for my old Cool Lights. They take up too much room to lay flat in my van, and I have to bungee them upright to keep them from falling over. I don't see any way they could be smaller than this, though, and I can live with it easily enough. - heavier than I would have thought at 15 pounds, but not unreasonable given the quality of construction. All in all, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. So far I'm pleased with my purchase and anticipate buying two more to replace the last two of my old Cool Lights.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Flapjack It's a very soft light and you will need a strong light stand but I really love it. It's extremely flattering on the face.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best constant I've worked with. I use this for indoor shoots that run the gamet from boudoir to food photography. It provides the most beautiful soft light from such a tiny source -- I compare it to constants I've had for years that require multiple light bulbs, and there's simply no contest. Plus you can change the temperature of the light so easily. It's a must-have for our work (we're buying another shortly).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE this Light!!! So nice and soft like a beauty dish. Would love to buy one about 24-30 in size. Place this overhead or to one side, then a light below and it's that classic lighting with out the flashing from strobes I'm used to using. Used it to light part of a structure and was amazed by the quality of light it put out at a distance. Usable for 3'4 to full length shots when backed off and turned up intensity. Will be interesting to see what all we shoot with this in the future!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Light!!! This is exactly what i have been looking to add to my strobe lighting collection. It is a great size and easy to transport with the nice case it comes in at no additional cost. lithium batteries also come standard with this kit. Its 30" version however does not come with a case nor lithium batteries making transport difficult. I have not sourced the batteries or a case for this model but i am sure they are not cheap. The 30" model is a substantially stronger and heavier light. Great for blending with strobes and adding some color control.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice light ,but I shoot videos and I thought the light would be idea. I bought two of them but they are only good for about 6ft I would say. I will still keep them and use them to fill light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Regrets After using the 'tried and true' (but aging) massive dual 85W bulbs on a cheap light stand method for many years, I went looking for an updated solution. These lights fit my interview-style videoing perfectly. Love that they have a separate kelvin temperature and brightness diming switches and can go "wireless" with the included batteries if wanted/needed. Quality product. Heavier than I thought and really needs to be on a heavier duty light stand for good stability. I use the Pro Master LS-2 stand and it's like a match made in lighting heaven. No regrets on getting these.
