question

Can this handle the SDI-6G signal from Blackbagic's Mini Converter HDMI to SDI 4K? How long can the cable be? Will a signal booster be required?
Asked by: David
Hi David,This cable can be up to 200' in length as long as the device (Black Magic unit) has the proper settings, which pertains to the clocking. Up to that length a signal booster would not be required.

question

Can I use a 500' SDI cable to successfully carry video feed from a camera to a TriCaster 460 or will I need to amplify signal?
Asked by: Anonymous
I do not believe that any SDI cable is currently capable of sending 3GSDI 500ft, without any conversion or extenders of some sort. The SDI cable functional distance decreases with an increase in bandwidth and data - Belden defines their distances for the 1855A cable as 215 feet for HD-SDI and 149 feet for 3G-SDI. So yes, you would need to amplify or extend your signal with an SDI to fiber converter like the Camplex CMX-3GSDI-LCF or Telecast Rattlers. There are many similar SDI to fiber extenders in market if you have another brand preference.https://www.belden.com/resourcecenter/tools/upload/TB65_p28.pdf
