Oben APG-EM10 overview

  • 1Description

Improve the ergonomics and handling of your Olympus OM-D E-M10 & E-M10 Mark II by picking up this Camera Grip with Arca Plate from Oben. It provides a large hand grip that provides shooters with a greater surface area to hold the camera, increasing confidence the camera won't accidentally drop during use. The precisely machined aluminum-alloy grip also offers complete access to your camera's ports and slots, including the battery compartment and memory card slot. In addition to this, the grip features an Arca-type compatible base and vertical plates for working in both landscape and portrait orientations with ease. Additionally, both the hand grip and vertical plate can be removed as needed.

In order to seamlessly integrate this grip with the camera, it has a satin matte finish. Also, it is equipped with a 1/4"-20 tripod thread on the base plate that is aligned with the optical axis for mounting to most tripod systems. Hex keys are included so users can attach and remove pieces of the grip as they see fit.

    Oben APG-EM10 reviews

Camera Grip with Arca Plate for Olympus OM-D E-M10 & E-M10 Mark II is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy it again. A couple of month ago I bought the EM10 Mark II. It was perfect for what I wanted from a camera. My problem, I have neuropathy in my hands, I had to make sure my finger was on the button before shooting and would miss the shot I wanted. I happened to see this grip in one of the emails that I get from B&H. I ordered it and I am very happy that I got it. It was just what I needed. I don't have to worry about missing a picture anymore. Thank you. I would recommend it for anyone that uses Olympus E-M10s

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I bought this for my new OM-D-E-M10 mark II and it works like a champ. The grip is comfortable and it still allows access to my battery and access ports.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good addition for tripod work. This item fits my em10 v1 very well, and is great for tripod mounting in either portrait or landscape. It also provides a better grip. However, It does add some weight to the camera, so I will use it only on days with my tripod. Also, there is no marking to align to the center of the lens in either orientation. It attaches with an Allen key rather than being turntable by hand unfortunately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality. Fits like a glove. I've had this grip for a couple weeks now. It is on my Mark II. The fit is excellent. I like how much more mass is at the grip. I have large hands. Only downside I can see is it does add a bit of weight the the camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition on the EM-10 Significantly improved the grip for my large hands. Fits my em-10 ii very well. Ports are still accessible and the Arca compatible plates provide a very economical L-bracket for tripod use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Grip too thick, Throws off the ergonomics of the camera It's a great concept. The grip is really smooth and you like holding it. However, the grip protrudes so far forward that reaching for the shutter button is difficult. It's a nice idea but poorly executed in terms of actually taking photos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for larger hands/longer fingers Tried this in the store alongside the Olympus and Fotodiox grips. The Oben offers a much beefier grip surface than those two. I'm 5'10" but with longer than average fingers. With the Oly 12-40/2.8 the Oben is significantly more comfortable for both one-and two-handed operation. Integrated Arca-Swiss plate is a huge plus and with the bottom cutout I've had no issues accessing SD card and battery.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good grip for big lenses and tripod mounting This grip is significantly bigger than the one made by Olympus, so it provides a better grip when using a big lens such as the 100-400mm Elmar. It has both horizontal and vertical Arca-Swiss dovetails, a major convenience if the camera is frequently tripod-mounted. The battery + memory card door is down in a bit of a hole, but it's reasonably easy to open if your fingers are small enough. I found the vertical tripod-mounting piece at the left side of the camera a bit too much, so I removed it in favor of using the tripod head to rotate to vertical. The grip does add a little more bulk to the camera than I'd like, but that's the price of providing a big camera grip. I also have the smaller Olympus-made grip, my preferences: this one if I expect to mount on a tripod frequently; the Olympus grip if I expect to hand-hold nearly all the time. If I had to select just one, I'd probably go with this one.
