I just purchased this recently and I'm loving it. I'm just a beginner so the autofocus really helps. It also came with a free bag, SD card and an extra battery which made it even better because I need them. No complains from me.

Very happy

I have mentioned how great it would be to have a nice camera to take photos of all the amazing animals that come onto our property. My husband decided to buy this camera due to its great reviews for doing such. I can't wait to see how it does!

Still going strong after 8 years

I bought this in 2014 because it was light, it had good reviews, and the viewfinder was in the upper left-hand corner (viewed from the back), allowing my nose to stick to the side, avoiding the screen. I've used this when backpacking and for travel, when low weight really matters. I bought the body only and have used the Sony 18-135mm lens, the Sony 35mm lens, Rokinon 12mm and 20mm manual lenses, and the Laowa 65mm macro lens. For the Sony lenses, the camera firmware does an excellent job at creating JPEG files free of distortion and vignetting. The main disadvantages of the camera are rate of power consumption from the battery, lack of weather sealing, and lack of in-body stabilization. Vloggers report overheating when recording video. Using the 12 mm Rokinon lens I have made 24x36 prints that preserve an amazing amount of detail. Reviews of the Sony 16-50 mm lens have been lackluster, but I don't own this lens. I have taken 28,000 shots with this camera, and like it a lot for shooting stills. I'll stick with the a6*** series Sony cameras when it comes time to upgrade, but I don't see the need to spend the extra bucks while the a6000 still does its job. I have used it for astrophotography with good results. If you want to shoot still photos, this camera will probably meet your needs unless you are a professional photographer.

3 years later and still happy with it.

I bought this 3 years ago, and I've been very happy with it the whole time. There are a couple things that Sony could improve upon though. First, there's some functions that you have to go through the menus to get to, instead of maybe at least having a favorites page. There are two custom buttons, but sometimes it would help to have a couple more, though, for that, you need to spend extra cash for a different model. The other thing, which is going to be on any Sony, is the phone/tablet app, and how it transfers photos. On Nikon, you can go on the app and pull up the images that are on the camera, then you pick what you want to transfer over. With Sony you have to pick from the camera and send it. It's easier to pick you images on the tablet with a touch screen. Both of these are not deal breakers though, and overall it does a very good job.

Great for beginner user!

B H staff led me to this camera as a gift for a young person just getting in to photography. It's the perfect solution and my child loves it. It's a perfect mix of packable size for her to take it on hikes and trips. After we read through the manual together she can use/understand most of the basic settings, but there's a ton more for her to learn about her new hobby. I like it so much I'm considering buying the same one for myself.

So Fun!!

I am an amateur photog, but I love this camera. It is light weight and compact to throw in my pack and use it on hikes and biking. Am enjoying practicing my close up portraits at our family gatherings. Grip fits my hand and the settings are easy. I have much to learn, and am loving the process!

The Square Trade Basic plan has been discontinued. The Pro plan is the only one available for the Sony A6000 camera. the Pro coverage is really one of the best in the world, and is international coverage. If your camera has an accident, Square Trade is available 24/7 to file a claim, and when you send in the damaged camera, you will have 2-Day Service Guarantee & Free Shipping Both Ways. Is there a ring light or flash that works with this camera? Using the 30mm f3.8 macro lense
Asked by: Kapil
While I am not familiar with a 30mm f/3.8 lens (and you do not list the full brand/model name of the lens in question), the answer would depend on the filter thread size of your lens. If you are looking for a ring flash that uses Sony's TTL automatic flash exposure system, the only option we carry that would work would be the Metz Mecablitz 15 MS-1 Macro Ringlight Digital Flash Kit, B&H # ME15MS1, as long as your lens has a filter thread size of either 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, 62mm, 67mm, or 72mm. However, as the Sony a6000's built-in flash cannot be used as a wireless commander, you would need another flash on the hot shoe of the camera to wirelessly trigger the Metz Mecablitz 15 MS-1 Macro Ringlight, such as the Sony HVL-F20M External Flash, B&H # SOHVLF20M. If you do not need TTL automatic exposure, then an option such as the Bolt VM-160 LED Macro Ring Light, B&H # BOVM160. This option would be both a continuous LED ring light that can be used for both still photography and video photography usage needs (and as it is a continuous light, it can also be used with automatic exposure), and it also has a manual flash feature. When using the flash feature, set the flash output manually.

Can a Minolta lens be used on this camera?
Asked by: Judith
Hi Judith, We recommend using the compatible Sony lenses for A6000. We can't guarantee that the Minolta lens or other third party lenses will work with this model. There are several lenses to choose from, here is the link for your reference; http://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/cscs/accessories/compatibility.php?area=gb&lang=en&mdl=ILCE-6000&cat=8. Will the sigma 18-35 ef work on this , and if not does the lens it comes with decent or no?
Asked by: Matthew
The 18-35mm lens will work with this if you have the MC-11 adapter. (Link to adapter here - https://bhpho.to/3d2Wsc5 ) However the 18-35 is not a native lens, so it's performance might not be as good as the kit lens. The kit lens is a great place to start.

Hi, i'm from the Philippines, i would like to purchase this item, but iwant to make sure on the charger and other accessories compatibility, is it compatible in our country? And the warranty, can i avail it ? Thanks
Asked by: gwen g.
The charger has universal voltage, but you will need a plug adapter for your country. The warranty is valid in the US, however you have the option to purchase additional coverage through Square Trade which will provide international protection. More information regarding the coverage, terms and conditions of the Square Trade protection plans can be found at the following link: http://bhpho.to/1fMHaTB
