B+W 66-045110 overview

  • 1Description

The B+W 95mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission, each glass surface includes eight layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features an F-Pro brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

This UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

    B+W 66-045110 reviews

95mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 147.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another excellent B&W filter. I bought this to protect the frontal element on my Nikkor 200-500mm f5.6 lens. Had an XS-Pro (slim) version been available in 95mm, I would have purchased it instead, but since it was't available, I chose this. This filter was very smooth to screw into place, it appears optically perfect and there's no difference in vignetting performance at 200mm or 500mm compared with no filter all. Now I have some piece of mind. I have B&W filters on 3 of my 4 lenses (can't fit a filter on the 4th lens due to it being a fisheye) plus a B&W circular polarizer. B&W quality is excellent and the optics are top notch. They aren't the cheapest, but for the money it's worth it, plus if I do damage the filter, it's much cheaper to replace than the cost of a lens repair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My first B+W filter My first B+W filter and I immediately could see the quality even before putting it on my lens. I was using a Vivitar filter and thought it was ok. Then I took some shots without it and compared those to the ones with the Vivitar filter. I could even see a loss of image quality on the camera display. When I got the B+W filter, I noticed that the glass was crystal clear without any haze look. The screw mount is much better that the other filter as well. First time using this filter resulted in excellent results. It is pricey ( about 3 - 4 times the cost of the vivitar ) but when keeping in mind the cost of the lens I was putting it on, I feel it is worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most trusted brand I was looking for a UV protective filter for my Nikkon 200-500mm f5.6 lens and picked the B+W from B&H photovideo. It's been almost 10 days and this one really met my expectations, which is usually on the higher side when it comes to quality. My buying decision was influenced by the reviews I read on B&H and other online resources and also my past experience with B+W filters. Being a purist I expect my pictures to be most natural looking with no degradation or artificial enhancements and from that perspective B+W always lived up to my expectation. I must mention that the shopping experience on B&H is the best. In a nutshell I couldn't have gone wrong with the combination of two of the best brands B+W and B&H that I trust. I am extremely happy with this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Frustrating Purchase I chose this lens for the quality reputation of B+W MRC filters. After three attempts, I have kept the best of the three. All three lenses came in open packaging and had various degrees of flaws. B&H customer service has been good regarding this issue but I do wish they would purchase these filters from the US distributor, Schneider Optics rather than from an overseas dealer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You need this. Guaranteed. If you second guess dropping the $ on this large filter, you could be sorry. All I had to do is come back from one construction site to find all kinds of particles stuck to the front element of my new Nikon 200-500 zoom. Immediately after cleaning off the debris, I logged onto B&H and ordered the filter. I always purchase B+W filters because of the Schott glass. I've never been disappointed and neither will you. Buy the filter or eventually replace the front element of your lens. If you believe one review online about the lens shade being substantial enough to keep the front element in good shape, you'd be mistaken.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from trusted quality this is a huge filter size so this makes it kind of expensive. I trust the B&W optical quality and cough up the extra bucks then rest easy knowing that my images won't be downgraded due to an inferior product . another thing about the B&W filters is that I have never had one bind up and get stuck on the lens to the point of having to use a filter wrench to get it off. I suppose that is due to the brass construction. I always get the multi-coating as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A necessity if you're going extreme telephoto The Nikkor 200-500mm lens is a really great value, but it can't perform miracles. Using the lens outdoors for distance means that you're going to encounter a significant amount of UV/haze, that you might mistake for a lack of sharpness and color fidelity. While I'm definitely not a fan of filters on any of my lenses, this time is different. Also, with the size of the front element getting bigger, it's harder than ever to protect it from the everyday touches and bangs of life. The solution I find acceptable, in this case, is to use this filter as protection. It's a fairly cheap investment that will improve some of your photos and make it easier for you to sleep at night.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Serves as intended This filter fits easily onto the Tamron 150-600mm lens with no trouble. The problem I have is getting the lens cap on and off the filter. The lens cap doesn't seem to fit right on this filter. The spring loaded thumb-tabs on the lens cap to not seat completely and sometimes it is very difficult to remove. Appears that the rim on the face of the filter is just a little smaller than the lens so the cap will not seat as intended.
