Canon EF 100mm f/2 USM Overview

Short-telephoto, portrait-length prime is designed for full-frame Canon EF-mount DSLRs, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 160mm equivalent focal length.
Bright f/2 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field for working with selective focus techniques.
Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize ghosting and flare for greater contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.
A ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM) is employed to deliver fast, precise, and quiet autofocus performance as well as full-time manual focus override.
Rounded eight-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

is this one fast enough for indoor sports?
Asked by: Lynnz
Yes, the Canon EF 100mm f/2 USM Lens is certainly fast enough for indoor sports. Other factors, are the model of camera one is using, and what is the best ISO to make it happen, allowing for a high shutter speed to stop the action.

question

Is this lens sharp wide open? I want it for my Sony A7Rii (42MP)
Asked by: Luis
I was extremely impressed with this lens and it has become my go to lens for action shots because of its large aperture. I bought it primarily shooting with a Canon T3i and now have a 5D Mark III. I still use this lens on both cameras because it is a fast lens that focuses quickly and quietly. I would say the lens is sharp...ish, but is on a completely different level than Canon L glass. That said, this is a lens for the budget conscious consumer like myself. You probably won't find a lens that is sharper at this price. I bought it from B&H for $379 so you may want to see if they drop the price before buying it. Last thing, I am not familiar with Sony's cameras or lens mounts, so make sure that the lens will fit your camera. Hope this helps.
