Nitecore TM26GT overview

  • 1Description

Nitecore's updated "Tiny Monster" TM26GT Quadray Rechargeable LED Flashlight lives up to it's reputation with the power and features of a full-size search light packed into a compact package. This updated version employs more energy efficient LEDs to provide better runtimes over the previous TM26 v2, with slightly different outputs. Its head has four Cree XP-L HI V3 LED emitters that drive the five output levels from 3 lumens to 3500. The low output is ideal for reading or looking in a pack, while the turbo mode is made for search-and-rescue operations or lighting an entire campsite. Its three-function strobe-mode has a disorientating rapid strobe, a steady flashing location beacon and an SOS emergency signal. To keep you apprised of the status of the light, there is an OLED display that shows lumen and output mode, voltage, battery level, remaining runtime and temperature. As you change output, the display updates accordingly. A single, intelligent two-stage pushbutton switch controls all the output and mode functions in an easy-to-use interface.

Designed to withstand a life lived outdoors, the aluminum alloy housing has a hard-anodized black finish to resist corrosion and scratches. The emitter lens has anti-reflective coatings on both sides and is tempered to be resistant to breaking and scratching. This durable light is impact-resistant to 5 feet and submersible to 6.6 feet. To help prevent over-heating, hardened heat-dissipating fins are machined into the head. Protection circuitry also prevents heat damage by monitoring the temperature and will automatically step-down the output or shut off the light if it gets too hot, and an over-charge system cuts the charging current when the batteries are fully charged. To add to the light's versatility, it can run on disposable CR123A lithium batteries, or 18650 and CR123A Li-ion rechargeable. The light will also run on as few as 1 x 18650 or 2 x CR123A batteries, but at reduced performance. Running the light with fewer batteries is not recommended for long periods, and is only intended for emergency situations.

    Nitecore TM26GT reviews

TM26GT Quadray Rechargeable LED Flashlight is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multipurpose giant in a small package If you are willing to go through a small learning curve with this flashlight it will be well worth it. This light serves many purposes: Multi-level flashlight (everyday use) Self defense light (blinding 3500 lumen strobe) Search and rescue light (two settings for search and two for rescue) Adjustable intensity work light (be sure you are using rechargeable batteries for this) This light does a great job of replacing multiple other flashlights and is a lot of fun to use! The designers really thought this through and did a great job of packing a lot in a small package. I can now take the garbage out without worrying about a Moose or Bear charge given that I can cover our property with enough light to be sure no animal is too close for comfort. We live in Alaska. This light is extremely valuable for our lifestyle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect. The light is very bright and works well. There is really only one big complaint about it and that is the constant blue flashing light around the on/off button. I have never found anyway to get it to stop the flashing other than unscrewing the light slightly so the batteries don't make full contact. I'm sure the flashing blue light comes in handy if you are looking for where you left the light at night, but if you keep it by your bedside it become annoying and you have to either put some electric tape on the button or lay the light on its side with the button down to minimize the constant flashing. Other thing to consider is the batteries for this are pretty pricey so factor that in. Also this light is heavy. So if you were packing light for camping it is going to be a bit more weight than you might be willing to spend on a flashlight. The upside however is you can actually run the flashlight on only 2 of the 4 batteries or if you have to you can double stack camera batteries (CR2 size I believe) and run it off those if you can't find your rechargeables.
