Long-reaching telephoto zoom is designed for APS-C-format FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras and offers a 152-609mm equivalent focal length range.
Five extra-low dispersion elements and one Super ED element are used to greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce high clarity and color fidelity throughout the zoom range.
A five stop-effective optical image stabilization system Minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds.
Twin linear motors deliver quick, quiet, and smooth autofocus performance that is especially beneficial when working with fast-moving subjects.
A focus limiter switch on the side of the lens barrel lets you constrain the focusing range to either the full range of 5.7' to infinity, or from 16.4' to infinity for faster focusing performance with distant subjects.
The lens body incorporates 13 distinct weather seals in 12 locations to protect against dust and moisture, and to enable worry-free use in inclement conditions and freezing temperatures as low as 14°F. Additionally, a fluorine coating has been applied to the front lens element to guard against smudging, moisture, and dust.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contribute to a pleasing out-of-focus quality to benefit the use of selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques.
Zoom-lock switch prevents unwanted zoom creep from occurring and also can be used to maintain the same zoom position while shooting.
A removable, rotating tripod collar allows for well-balanced mounting and shooting when working from a tripod or monopod.
The included lens hood incorporates a sliding window to allow easier adjustment of rotating filters, such as a polarizer, while the hood is installed.
Compatible with optional XF 1.4x TC WR and XF 2x TC WR teleconverters.

FUJIFILM XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Reviews

My daily tool for stress reducing hobby

I bough the lens before my trip to Alaska and thought after that I will probably sell it. But somehow I began shooting birds and now I basically use it on a daily basis because I live close to park with many birds. And birds photography became a stress reducing therapy for me when I take breaks from work. The lens paired with my X-T2 camera and I really enjoy using it and like the results I get.

Gets the job done

It's big, it's heavy and even with a rebate it's expensive but if you need a long telephoto get it. Excellent optics, fast focus and for a lens this size it balances well.

Big, Heavy, Mediocre IQ

I bought a copy of this, waited almost 8 months for delivery, then was shocked at how big and heavy it was. Then, after extensive use for birding, shocked again at the poor image quality wide-open at 400mm - very glowy/hazy. I am a Fujifilm Professional Services member, so I sent it to them asking for a sanity check. They checked it and returned me another copy, noting that the original copy passed resolution tests but they replaced it as a courtesy (kudos; I have had great service from them). The second copy was exactly the same at 400mm, wide open, where it counts most: soft-focus halos around everything bright. I've owned and rented a LOT of other 100-400mm lenses for various formats from Micro Four Thirds to full-frame, and in my view, Fujifilm has released a lemon here, and I doubt it was just bad copies due to the aforementioned experiences. I expected a sharp, light, compact lens; isn't that the sales pitch of APS-C? Instead it's as big and heavy as full-frame 100-400s of similar specs and price, and with worse image quality. I'm baffled. I should note that I'm a huge fan of Fujifilm's lenses in general and own tens of thousands of dollars worth. In my view, they need to redesign this lens, as quickly as possible. As in, it needs to be a really high priority, or it's going to really hurt their reputation. I sold my copy to finance upgrading some of my Micro Four Thirds lenses.

I waited a long time for this lens and It was well worth it. I have not had an opportunity to really test it out but the little I have used it I can tell I'm going to love it!

It was very difficult to justify the cost as a mere photography hobbyist, but I'm glad I did (wife may not concur). It is expensive and heavy, but I knew this in advance and didn't want to wait any longer for the 70-300m to be available. I'm very pleased I made the investment. It is a well made lens that exceeded my expectations.

Very nice lens

I bought the Fujifilm XF 100-400 mm lens for use with my XT-3 camera and I've been very happy with the combination in the four outings I've had since the lens arrived. The lens feels solid and well built; there is no zoom creep at all when held vertically even when unlocked. Images have been crisp with good resolution even at 400 mm and color rendition is good. Focus speed has been very acceptable in both single and continuous fashion. Obviously, the lens is larger and heavier than average but I come from old 35 mm film photography and if you consider that the equivalent full frame zoom range is 150 - 600 mm the size and weight are not bad at all. Heavy to carry around your neck all day, yes, but not bad at all in an appropriate photo back pack. The lens stabilization has allowed me to get sharp hand held photos at speeds of 1/60th of a second pretty reliably. It's been a nice addition not only for wildlife but also for landscapes with a unique perspective.

FUJIFILM XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens have variable apertures. If you would be using the lens minimun aperture it will increase and decrease automatically from f/4.5-5.6 or f/9-11 if you would be attaching the Fujifilm 2x Teleconverter. If you select a higher aperture the f-stop won't fluctuate.

As a 40 Year Professional, I can tell you that I would not tolerate a lens that wasn't sharp. Don't worry about the Fuji Lenses, especially the 100-400mm. If the shots are out of focus, its not the lens.
