This Miops Camera Trigger with Mobile Dongle for iOS and Android Kit from B&H helps provide the ability to create images of fast-moving action or fleeting subject matter such as lightning strikes, fireworks, water droplets, or a popping balloon. The Camera Trigger includes multiple modes to precisely synchronize the release of a camera shutter or flash to that of changes in light or sound, as well as movement which can correspond to the instant being photographed. To help ensure that the camera trigger activates a connected device at the proper moment, a Mobile Dongle is also included that allows a smartphone to be physically connected to a camera or flash. The Camera Trigger itself can then operate in closer proximity to the event needed to trigger the shutter or flash. When that event occurs, the Camera Trigger transmits a signal to the smartphone using Bluetooth; the signal is then sent to the camera or flash through the Mobile Dongle.

The MIOPS Camera Trigger is a versatile way to capture images using lightning, sound, or laser to trigger your camera or flash. It features six different modes of operation with adjustable sensitivity depending on your given shooting situation. In addition to the lightning, sound, laser, time lapse, and HDR modes enable additional creative output. An external port can connect to various sensors to trigger your camera based on variables such as temperature, pressure, or humidity. An app for either iOS or Android allows you to control the MIOPS from your smartphone using Bluetooth connectivity. When not using a smartphone, all functions can be controlled by a color LCD screen on the unit.

Extend the range of your triggering system by taking the MIOPS remote off camera with this Mobile Dongle for iOS and Android. By connecting your smartphone directly to your camera, you can now take the MIOPS remote a distance away and then wirelessly trigger the camera through the phone. The remote will send a signal over Bluetooth to tell the phone to set off the camera and/or flash unit.

  • Miops Camera Trigger

The MIOPS Camera Trigger is a versatile way to capture images using lightning, sound, or laser to trigger your camera or flash. It features six different modes of operation with adjustable sensitivity depending on your given shooting situation.

In addition to the lightning, sound, laser, timelapse, and HDR modes enable additional creative output.

    Lightning Mode
A built-in light sensor detects changes in light and triggers your camera's shutter in just a few nanoseconds. You can capture only bright lightning strikes, or the smallest strikes, simply by adjusting the sensitivity. This mode can also be used to capture fireworks, or other events where you need to capture images based on changes in light.
    Laser Mode
The MIOPS has a built-in sensor to detect when a laser beam is broken, thereby triggering your camera's shutter. This is useful for detecting subjects such as water drops, animals, or intruders when conducting surveillance.
    Sound Mode
MIOPS's built-in microphone can detect sound, triggering your camera or flash to capture things like breaking glass, or a popping balloon. You can adjust the delay of the trigger as well as the sensitivity of amount of sound needed to trigger the shutter.
    Timelapse Mode
This mode lets you specify the interval time anywhere between one second and one hour, as well as how many photos to take. The LCD screen will turn off to save energy, allowing you to take a timelapse photo for days, or even months if you use an external power source.
    HDR Mode
Even if your camera doesn't have a bracketing feature, MIOPS allows you to set a center exposure, as well as the over and under exposures needed in order to make an HDR image.
    External Port
A port on the MIOPS can accept any external trigger that has an output signal between 0V and 3V, such as a temperature, pressure, or humidity sensor.
    Combining Sensors
You can combine sensors with MIOPS's Scenario feature by creating a custom scenarios with up to five different steps. For example, you can set the MIOPS to start taking timelapse photos only after it detects lightning.
    Triggering Your Camera and Flash
MIOPS has two dedicated outputs, one for a flash, and another for a camera. They are electrically isolated from each other, reducing risk of a short circuit. The MIOPS trigger can be used with multiple cameras (not simultaneously) by simply changing the camera connection cable.
    Mini-USB Port
The mini-USB port allows you to charge your Li-ion battery, as well as update the MIOPS's firmware.
    Compatibility
MIOPS can be used with any cameras which have a remote shutter trigger port or an IR port, and any and flash units with a PC sync jack.

Miops Camera Trigger with Mobile Dongle for iOS and Android Kit is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice device with lots of capability This little device comes nicely packaged. The design is solid and sound although I would prefer a way to snug it up in the hot shoe mount. As it is now it just slides in and I hope that over time it does not get so loose it will fall out - a distinct possibility. The documentation available online is fine and explains most of the uses and settings. The ability to interface with the device through an Android phone is good but there is no app compatible with an Android tablet - a deficiency in my judgment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Fine Works as advertised with my Nikon D4. Programming via the Miops unit or free iPhone app is simple. However, the Miops Trigger is only part of the total system. Be sure to read the manual. Example: Different camera shutter settings can dramatically change if/how it works. The ability to remotely trigger the camera is a plus; tap or tap-and-hold the iPhone screen to take a photo. I have not compared the maximum range for control, which uses Bluetooth.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not working I tried this gatget from a friend and liked very much. I saw it in sale price at B&H and bought it. I instaled the battery and tried to charge the unit. The chardge light turned on but after more than 4 hours still on. I turn on the unit and it did not work. Called B&H and sent it back. They will send me another one. When it arrives I will review it again. Could be bad luck. Great customer service at B&H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I think it's worth it. Great device. I saw it in sale in BH and decided to buy it. It arrived in a few days to my home and proceeded to test it. I also bought cables for my different cameras (Sony, Canon and Nikon) and per my tests, the device appears to work fine with all my cameras in the different settings mode. I plan to use it for time lapse events in the near future. Still need time to play with it further. Zero issues with BH.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great remote trigger - better than expected! I use this remote primarily as a sound and/or lightning trigger. Very responsive and works well and easily. Pros - easy to use, straightforward app, works as advertised Con - I need to buy the laser for that mode... Didn't realize it wasn't include (my bad on the research)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Trigger The new MIOPS is a great upgrade from the earlier Nero. Menus are clear. Ability to connect to a smart phone is very nice. It's small and easily part of my camera bag, plus, it's adaptable to a variety of camera bodies.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would only buy the Miops for a pacific purpose Have not had this unit long enough to tell you if it's any good or not. But my first impressions are that this is just a toy and if you have the extra money go ahead and buy it and have fun with it.
