Lowepro BP 250 overview

  • 1Description

Photographers prizing a minimal, yet stealthy and fashionable camera backpack will appreciate the charcoal gray StreetLine BP 250 from LowePro. The versatile BP 250 holds a DSLR camera with standard lens, extra lens, flash, related accessories, 13" laptop and tablet. Removable, collapsible FlexPockets inside the backpack expand to store and organize photo gear or flatten for general use as a day pack. The contents of the bag are protected from weather by the large cover flap, which closes with a sturdy, quick-release buckle. On top of the flap is a zippered, accessory pocket for stashing a cellphone, keys and wallet. Below the top flap is a small, touch-fastening, accessory pocket with key fob, and a zippered, side pocket for documents or accessories. There's also a convenient side-access zipper to the pack's interior.

On the lower right is a side pocket with two, quick-release straps above for securing a compact tripod, umbrella, or water bottle. Carry your StreetLine backpack with the top and side handles, or padded, adjustable shoulder harness. The adjustable, waist belt with quick-release buckle provides increased comfort and stability. To repel water, the exterior of the bag is constructed with weather-treated zippers and two-tone spun polyester. The cushioning back panel has channels for airflow cooling. A smooth, bronze-tone, interior lining adds style and luxury while also making locating gear in low light easier, too. As a finishing touch the bag is trimmed with premium, black leather and reinforced at the bottom for improved durability.

    Lowepro BP 250 reviews

StreetLine BP 250 Backpack (Charcoal Gray) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from A decent alternative to a traditional camera bag If you're looking at this bag, it's because you're looking for a middle ground between a casual backpack and a workable camera bag. This bag has some great features and is rather lacking in others. Overall I'm satisfied using this as a work bag that can also function as a daypack. I have professional bags and cases and was looking for something for weekend trips where shooting wasn't priority no.1. Here are the pro's and cons... Pro's: - It looks very cool, especially for a camera bag. The color, material, and subdued leather accents make it very good looking. It's got a mature look, even for a backpack. - It is very comfy. I was initially worried about the flat back padding, but the straps and fit are all very comfy for all day wear. - It's relatively easy to access different portions of the backpack. No unnecessary buckles which take forever to undo. I- It's sturdy, and the faux-leather, water-resistant bottom lets the bag stand upright when placed on the ground. - The laptop sleeve is nicely padded. The cons: - The pockets are rather small, typically big enough only for small things like chapstick, cables, a phone, etc. - The side access pocket, while useful, needs to stretch a bit more to get larger cameras out. It's a tight squeeze. - The collapsible camera pocket insert, while theoretically useful, needs improvement. So here's the deal, you can choose to have this pocket sit at the top or bottom of the bag, neither of which is placed very strategically. When on the top, it hangs too low to utilize the bottom portion very well, not to mention that your miscellaneous stuff just kind of sits in a big pile at the bottom of the bag. When you affix the camera sleeve to the bottom of the bag, it leaves about 3 inches of space underneath it which can easily become a nest of small lost items. Also, the camera insert doesn't have a lid/top cover, meaning if you have your camera insert affixed to the bottom of the bag, you essentially cannot put anything in the top section while keeping your camera protected. It basically makes the top section useless for anything but a soft coat. This was a HUGE design flaw in my opinion., which can easily be remedied with a cheap additional purchase. I bought and 11x8x5 padded camera insert from Bestek which fits the bag PERFECTLY at the bottom. It has a padded lid which means I can put anything else in the top section, it's really nice and makes the bag perfect. So long story short, this bag has some major flaws, and you might be better suited to just buy a padded insert and put it in a backpack you already have or like. I like the look of this bag a lot so I am satisfied, I just wish Lowepro thought through their good idea a bit better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This bag saved my equipment! Ok, first let me say, I really screwed up in making a massive bone headed mistake.... I had left this bag out overnight when a storm rolled in. I had all the charging equipment, some dongles, and my brand new MacBook Pro in it. It rained all night in to the next morning. When I finally realized the next day that my bag wasn't in it's normal spot (i don't use my laptop on a daily basis), my heart sunk. I looked through the window and saw the bag sitting there in plain sight. Frantically, I ran to it and opened it. To my delight, there was no water inside and it felt quite dry. I pulled out my laptop and it was like nothing had happened. The little side pocket had some water in it but all other areas looked and felt as if nothing had happened. My laptop powered right up without any issues. I don't know if everything was fine because it all had dried , but the design of this bag definitely helped save my equipment, and for that I cannot say enough good things about it. The $200 investment in this bag helped save thousands of dollars from my dumb--s move. in addition to this, the design is great, it's comfortable and the size is perfect for me. I'm 6'0 155 pounds and it's not bulky at all. I recommend this to anyone who needs something to carry their laptop around in... or leave in the rain (though I don't recommend doing so). I do also carry a canon 5d in the bag and it can be a bit tight but with the right Tetris skills, you can get everything in there as you need to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cool, hip design as long as your gear fits Storage space is not much. However, as long as your gear fits, it's a very good, cool, and hip design (i.e. approved by my 18-year-old son). The interior FlexPocket has a raised floor so it keeps the gear from striking the ground when you put the bag down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from stylish and sturdy I like that it's a thinner profile since I bike and I put it in the basket. It really organized well and it's very sturdy. I use it as my carry-on for flying too. It has great protection for the laptop and iPad
