Lowepro SL 140 overview

  • 1Description

Photographers prizing a minimal, yet stealthy, fashionable and versatile camera bag will appreciate the charcoal gray StreetLine SH 140 Bag from LowePro. Your SL 140 holds a mirrorless camera, related accessories, 11" laptop and tablet. Slim and lightweight, it may be worn as a shoulder or sling bag. For added comfort the strap is wide and adjustable. Collapsible FlexPockets inside the bag expand to store and organize photo gear or flatten for converting the bag to general use as a day bag. Underneath the front flap is an exterior, zippered, accessory pocket with slip-in pockets for small accessories and a key fob.

There's a smaller, zippered pocket on top of the flap as well. The contents of the bag are protected from weather by the large cover flap, which closes with a touch-fastening, center strip and adjustable, quick-release buckles. Carry your StreetLine bag with the top handle, shoulder strap, or rear trolley sleeve. To repel water, the exterior of the bag is constructed with weather-treated zippers and two-tone spun polyester. The interior features a smooth, bronze-tone lining that adds style and luxury while also making locating gear in low light easier, as well. As a finishing touch the bag is trimmed with premium, black leather.

An innovative FlexPocket system features foldaway pockets. When closed the bag may be used for general purpose or to hold a larger camera set-up such as a body with a long lens. The advantage of this set-up is that it can be done on-the-fly without having to remove and store a supplementary insert.
Weatherproof Finish
Lowepro has united the look of natural woven fabric with weatherproof protection to create a bag that is as beautiful as it is functional. The material is made of two-tone, spun polyester with DWR (durable water repellent) coating. This protection complemented with the use of weather-treated zippers.
Protectively storing a laptop or other electronic device has been made safer with the CradleFit design that gently cradles gear to reduce potential damage from impact.
Non-Snagging Back Panel
The smooth back panel helps cushion both gear and wearer from impact, while also helping to avoid clothing snags. For added versatility the panel doubles as a trolley pass-through.
Leather Touchpoints
Leather touchpoints, woven tech-fabric and bronze-tone lining help resist wear and add a touch of luxury.

    Lowepro SL 140 reviews

StreetLine SH 140 Bag (Charcoal Gray) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect everyday bag I wanted a small camera bag for my fuji xt2 + maybe 2 fixed lenses for a quick grab and gos when I am out with my kids. This bag is very urban and fits my style. I like the way it looks on my back as well. A plus is it suprisingly fits my 12.9 Ipad Pro with a case easily. Plenty of extra pockets and such for smaller accessories and things. Be aware, I did take this bag with me on 2 sessions before I stopped. If you are a lens changer or like to shoot with a body in hand and one in your bag, this bag is NOT that. It is not easy flipping this bag around to grab stuff. It's more of a backpack than it is a slingbag. It also can't really be worn as a messenger bag despite it looking like one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from StreetLine SH 140 - compact, convenient and stylish bag Lowepro StreetLine SH 140 is a very compact and convenient bag for a mirrorless camera. I succeed to squeeze into this bag my Fuji X-T1 with battery grip and five lenses. Still enough room for additional accessories (batteries, memory cards, tablet and more). You can even attach a compact tripod to the bag. FlexPocket allows making this bag extremely flat when not in use. Overall impression - a stylish, discreet appearance, quality materials, and good production. There are only two things that bother me: The first is a way the strap attached to the bag. The second is a lack of external water bottle pocket. Actually, Lowepro could easily add a double-lock buckle on the strap and allow the use of the bag not only as a sling bag but also as a waist pouch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I expected I carry a Fuji XE2 with me everywhere and I bought this bag so I'd have something small and low profile to put it in, along with a notebook or a book, that would allow me to get the camera out very quickly and that offered more protection than a tote bag. I've been really happy with it as the structured back allows it to sit comfortably on my back. It doesn't have a lot of space inside, but enough for camera, and a couple of other small items. It's enough padding that I can toss it in the backseat of the car with camera and not worry about it. I look forward to having it in situations where even a messenger bag is too big. Just don't expect to put too much stuff in it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bag. Not quite perfect, but great. I was looking for another walk around bag for my Leica M9, a couple lenses and extra bits. I don't like heavy/bulky leather bags. I like something more casual, something that will blend a little more with my street clothes. I really liked the materials used in this bag. The textured gray material is really nice. It's not flashy, but it has a more tailored, higher end feel than the typical canvas or nylon typically used. It feels very durable. The bottom of the bag has a nice leather-like material. The inside is finished very nicely and the brown color offers a nice contrast with a classy feel to it. The inside pockets fold away if you'd like to carry something other than camera gear, which is a nice touch. I got the SL 140 which is the smaller sling so it has two pockets and then a third empty area. The pockets are separate from each other so they can be individually folded back. The pockets themselves are not padded, which I like because it makes things less bulky. My M9 with lens mounted fits in the middle compartment and then there is plenty of room left in the bag for a couple more lenses and other accessories. There is also plenty of pockets for small items like filters, caps, memory cards, lens cleaning cloths, etc. The zippers on the pockets feel durable and weather resistant. The main compartment flap just folds over and is secured by a velcro strip or two nylon/plastic straps. I almost wish there was a zipper for the main compartment as well, for when you are in pure travel mode with all gear tucked away. Just to make things more secure and more protected from the elements. Wearing the bag is pretty comfortable. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to tighten and loosen the strap. When its across the back it feels great to have it tightened up, but when you swing it around to the front I want to quickly lower the bag in front of me to make accessing a bit less awkward. I just haven't had a lot of time to play with technique. Now here is why I only gave the bag 4 stars. There are two things I do not like. First, the entire back of the bag is a padded, winged panel that extends out on both sides and it has a reinforced seamed edge that runs all the way around. This edge extends BELOW the base of the bag. So when you sit the bag down it does not sit upright. It falls forward. Not cool when you have a bag full of gear! You have to pay special attention and either try to smoosh the bag down to force it to stay, and hope it stays, or remember to close the top flap. IMHO, this is a design flaw. I know it's a sling and is meant to be worn while in use, but at some point you are going to want to take the bag off and set it down. I see no reason why the bag couldn't have been designed with that edged panel just a bit shorter. This would have made a world of difference. My second issue is with the webbed strap. The d-rings that the strap fit through are plastic and fixed. So every single time I grab the bag, i have to take the time to untwist the strap before putting it on. Metal, swiveling rings would have been so much nicer. This way the bag could be thrown on and then you could just rotate the d-rings if necessary on the go. In conclusion, I think this is a very nice bag overall and the perfect size for a Leica kit or something from the m4/3 or small mirrorless camps.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Everyday Carry I recently purchased this bag in replacement over my backpack. I needed a bag smaller and more compact but also something that doesn't scream I'm a camera bag. Also, the fact that it's more of a sling than a shoulder bag was a big plus for me. Something about big bulky shoulder bags to me says Hey check out my man purse.. So being able to wear the sling either on the left side or right side is awesome. Especially when you need to grab your camera out right away and swap lenses in a hurry, all you have to do is slide the bag under your arm and viola, instant access. One thing I didn't like about backpacks was no matter what, if you needed something you would either need to take one strap off or take off the backpack completely to access gear right away. Another great thing about this bag is the pockets and compartments, there's plenty. I have space to fit my FF Mirrorless camera and two lenses and if i needed too, also big enough to fit in my 2009 13 mbp (i know the specs says 11inch but 13 mbp fits). Plenty of other zip pockets for keys, cell phone, passport/wallet and etc. One con i wasn't a fan of was the velcro, like its 2016 for goodness sakes. Wish it had a magnet type lock. Lastly, comfort wise, it is very light and easy to carry around. Most of the time I carry one camera and one spare lens at a time so for me packing light is the way to go for me. Also like I said previously, being able to wear on either shoulder if nice. I definitely recommend this bag to anyone trying to ditch the man purse or 15 year old kid backpack look.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from i like everything about it, except... Now assuming that Lowepro decided that this bag would be a 'street' bag how did they assume people would be carrying it? In my case I carry it cross body my issue with it is that the straps and the buckle don't somehow sway or there isn't a ring so it causes the bag to bunch up in that area, (see photo) perhaps Lowepro change it to a swiveling buckle in the next iteration.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect size Great low key backpack. Fits my 13inch mbp. Like other reviews said, would be better without the velcro but i don't mind it. A lot of people tell me how cool it was that it didn't even look like a camera bag and to be honest it doesn't.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from poorly engineered bought this mainly to be able to carry small computer conveniently with photo gear. The bag itself seems adequate to use that way, but as others have stated the carrying strap setup is a mess, not engineered to use it as designed. Will be removing the strap in the future and adding a clip-on type of shoulder strap, to carry more like a messenger bag....understand why the price was dropped to its current level.
