This drive is compatible with the 1.7 and 2.0 GHz 11" MacBook Air released in June 2012 (MacBookAir5,1), the 1.8 and 2.0 GHz 13" iMac released in June 2012 (MacBookAir5,2), and the 1.7 GHz 13" MacBook Air released in July 2012 (MacBookAir4,2). It is NOT compatible with the 1.4 and 1.6 GHz 11" MacBook Air released in October 2010 (MacBookAir3,1), the 1.86 and 2.13 GHz 13" MacBook Air released in October 2010 (MacBookAir3,2), the 1.6 and 1.8 GHz 11" MacBook Air released in July 2011 (MacBookAir4,1), and the 1.7 and 1.8 GHz 13" MacBook Air released in July 2011 (MacBookAir4,2).

Built using a SandForce SF2281 Series processor and Tier 1 Major Multi-Level Cell (MLC) High-Performance Sync-NAND Flash storage, this SSD connects to your iMacBook Air using a PCIe interface and features no moving parts, helping to protect it from accidental bumps and drops, as well as achieve faster data transfer speeds. Having no moving parts also means that this SSD will receive less wear and tear, as there are no read and write heads for the SSD media to come into contact with. In terms of speed, this drive offers read speeds up to 501 MB/s, write speeds up to 503 MB/s, and random 4K reads and writes up to 60,000 Input/Output Operations per Second (IOPS).

Also featured is 7% over provisioning with 8GB allocated to real-time data redundancy and error correction, less than 1 per 1016 non-recoverable read errors per bits read, 128-bit AES data encryption, read and write latencies of less than 0.1 ms, and OS dependent TRIM support. OWC's 120GB Aura 6G PCIe Internal SSD for MacBook Air (Mid 2012) is protected by a limited 3-year warranty.

DuraClass Technologies

DuraWrite Technology optimizes writes to the flash memory over conventional controllers, helping to increase the overall endurance and reliability of the complete SSD. Intelligent block management and wear leveling also extends the overall endurance. This also helps achieve a higher mean time between failures (MTBF)
Intelligent Block Management & Wear Leveling system automatically distributes data evenly across the entire SSD
Intelligent Read Disturb Management spreads the active read/write across the flash components, helping to eliminate data corruption caused by constant use
Intelligent "Recycling" for advanced free space management gradually re-writes data across the SSD over time to help ensure data does not become corrupted
RAISE (Redundant Array of Independent Silicon Elements) helps protect the data on your drive, much like having a RAID setup
ECC protection for long data retention and drive life
