The Kingston HyperX Savage is a compact 512GB USB 3.0 flash drive that provides faster transfer rates than a hard drive. The HyperX Savage delivers a storage capacity of 512GB and read speeds of up to 350 MB/s, which is similar to the performance of slower SSDs. Data is written to the drive at a rate of up to 250 MB/s. To provide these speeds, it utilizes USB 3.0 technology, which is supported by multiple platforms such as desktops, notebooks, and gaming consoles.

Fast Transfer Speeds
HyperX Savage delivers fast transfer speeds of 350 MB/s read and 250 MB/s write to let you quickly access files with no performance lag. It comes with a capacity of 512GB that provides enough room to store movies, high-resolution images, songs, programs, and more.
Multi-Platform Compatibility
You can use this versatile drive on multiple platforms such as desktops, notebooks, and gaming consoles. Its slim design fits in tight-fitting USB ports found on consoles.

    Kingston HXS3 reviews

512GB HyperX Savage USB 3.1 Gen 1 Flash Drive is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty Darn Good and Fast At first I wasn't so sure because it seemed to read or write in clumps - it would be reading at 400MBps and then pause or halt. On continued use, it seems to write at 100MBps, as typical starting faster than that and slowing down. I still think the SanDisk ExtremePro is as fast if not faster, but the HyperX Savage is really great. I don't know why people make drives this big that advertise a fast read speed but have a crummy write speed. The HyperX Savage really does write fast enough to be truly useful.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lackluster performance vs claimed manufacturer's claims Read speeds are very good. Write speeds are a mixed bag. This drive will, initially, write quickly (~140 MB per second, on large, multi-gigabyte files). But then it slows down. Same goes for writing thousands of small files (a few K to a few MB in size). I tested with 6,050 small files, totaling 15 GB. It averaged 39 MB per second. For writing a 10 GB file, it averaged 121 MB per second. It seems to slow down after approximately 3.5 gigabytes of data. I suspect that it has a memory buffer (like cache) that initially accepts the writes, and once that buffer is filled, you see the actual speed of data going to the flash drive. If you do not exceed the buffer, you will be happy. But if you do large transfers, you might be disappointed. However, if you write a 2 GB file to the drive, it will appear to be very fast (because it is in the drives buffer). So if you plan to write and run (write and remove the drive), you will have to wait, because the drive has to finish writing from its buffer to the drive. This flash drive has a "bright" blue activity light. The light flashes, for 30 to 40 seconds, after you are done. In other words, if you delete 1 small file, the light will flash for a long time. If you create an empty folder, the light will flash for a long time. Apparently, someone at Kingston finds it necessary to "impress" everyone with how they can flicker their bright light. A child might find this fascinating. I find this misleading (data-wise) and annoying. So it is hard to say whether or not the drive is busy. The SanDisk Extreme Pro is roughly equal in "read" speed, and is 15 - 20 percent faster in large file writes, and 100% faster (yes, double as fast) in small file writes. The SanDisk Extreme Pro does not suffer from bright blinking lightsyndrome. It has a normal light, that blinks during activity, and does not blink for an eternity, unnecessarily. Cheers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product will be buying more in future. This is a neat compact storage drive of 512 GB capacity. I use this to store backups of my videos when travelling. Previously used large hard drives but this is easier and reduces carrying larger drives. The larger versions of this drive are highly priced and better to buy several 512 size than the larger sizes. Transfer speed is very good. Will be ordering more for my next tour to the Arctic, Canada and USA. B&H service was great as usual.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from S-L-O-W Takes an HOUR to back up 180 GB, while another brand, same size, takes 10 minutes! If this is USB 3, I'm a monkey's uncle.
