HP Elite x2 1012 G1

Dual-Core 6th-Gen Skylake Intel Core m3 Performance
The HP Elite x2 houses a 6th-gen Skylake Intel Core m3-6Y30 processor. Its dual cores have a base speed of 900 MHz. Using Intel's Turbo Boost 2.0 technology, the processor can boost to 2.2 GHz when needed. With a dedicated 4MB L3 cache, 4GB of 1866 MHz DDR3 RAM, and Intel Hyper-Threading technology, you'll be able to multitask between applications quickly and efficiently
12" Multi-Touch IPS Display
The HP Elite x2 has a 12" IPS display with wide viewing angles. With a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio, the HP Elite x2 can play Full HD content natively. Its screen also supports touch support so you'll be able to use multi-touch gestures incorporated into Windows 10 Home.
Thunderbolt 3 via USB Type-C
The USB Type-C port on the HP Elite x2 supports Thunderbolt 3, DisplayPort 1.2, and USB 3.1. It also supports docking and charging when applicable.

Windows 10 Home

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Notebook, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With it, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    HP 1012 M5 reviews

    12" Elite x2 1012 G1 Multi-Touch Tablet (Wi-Fi Only) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Recommended Device - very stable Comparing specs and testing multiple tablets, I must say that I am very pleased with this tablet. This finally ends a one year quest to find the perfect device to replace an aged non-PC tablet. HP struck a great balance between features and price. The device is designed to be serviceable which is a big value compared to competitors models. My primary use - Business -remote server management -business notes - great pen experience -runs various VM's after enabling settings in BIOS -feed reader and general web browsing Summary of biggest features for me: -full sized USB -pen/stylus -upgradeable -cellular connectivity Again, I highly recommended this device. Thanks HP for a great device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Tablet PC that is serviceable The HP Elite x2 1012 G1 PC/Tablet is the perfect combination of performance, size (thinness), battery life and serviceability for me. I wanted my next PC to allow for easy serviceability to replace the internal hard drive or battery when needed. SSD hard drives and batteries will fail eventually. The HP Elite x2 1012 G1 was the only PC/Tablet that had the serviceability option for me. I was hesitant at first on purchasing it because it’s highest speed option was a Skylake Intel m7 processor. I wanted something comparable to my old PC’s Intel i5 processor. Comparing the online benchmark’s, I found that the Skylake m7 processor was a little faster than the i5 with the benefit that it was designed for mobile use, low power, and fan less operation. Based on this information, I purchased the HP Elite x2 1012 G1. I am very glad I did. Having fan less operation is excellent. I did not realize how much noise the fans on my old PC really were until I started using the HP Elite x2. The HP Elite x2 meets and exceeds all of my old PCs good points as far as I am concerned. A few added benefits for the HP Elite x2 are: • Built in fingerprint reader for secure booting, login, and password website usage. • Larger display area with higher resolution display. • Much less heat dissipation (fan less operation) and longer battery life. • No cost added for the backlit keyboard and large trackpad. The trackpad can be disabled with a double tap if needed. The keyboard and trackpad work perfect together. • The bundled Watcom digitizer pen with adhesive strap allows one to be creative. • High resolution front and back cameras. • Comes with Windows Pro. • USB 3.0 and USB C (3.1) ports. The USB C port supports charging, HDMI output and USB 3.0 using a Multiport Adapter. Having a dedicated USB 3 port allows the legacy devices such as flash drives to be used when on the road. Using the Multiport adapter allows a second monitor to be used while charging. One last item to mention is that this computer works great as an Android tablet using an Android emulator under Windows. It allows me to have both Windows and Android on the same tablet. In the future, I hope more manufactures make it easy to service their PC/Tablets like HP has done with the Elite x2.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just love it Lightweight. Love that the keyboard comes with the device. Good screen resolution. Good tradeoff in size. Good battery life, although honestly never had it below 50% so far. Right now, on my way to becoming my new full-time laptop. Negatives: Only a few minor points -none of these should be a deal breaker. Would be nice to have an m5 version. Wish the pen was standard, not an accessory. Would like a 256 gig SSD version.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing but problems Nothing but issues since purchasing this computer. I've had to have the screen replaced, the active pen only worked for a few months. It's had so many driver issues, limiting the function of the computer. The wireless display driver no longer functions correctly even after troubleshooting. The Audio Driver has often ceased to function after routine updates. The Touchpad used to stop functioning intermittently but stopped working altogether months ago. The fabric on the bottom of the keyboard has started to separate. Replacements for both the pen and keyboard are on backorder. The Thunderbolt driver wont update to latest generation, and the speakers are whisper quiet. I love the form factor but it's probably best to purchase the second generation as it has more than likely had the bugs worked out. Keyboard was great before the touchpad stopped working. The fingerprint scanner used to work with the index finger but after an update it became way more sensitive and will no longer accept index fingerprints which is odd, due to the fact that I have large hands. Oh and almost forgot to mention I've only had this computer for about a year. Overall It's neat but I very much regret my purchase.
