Whistler BP 450 AW (Gray) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Pleased Design I purchased this product after watching several youtube videos which explains the features in detail. After receiving this bag I attempted to put my Canon 5DSR with battery pack and 70 - 200 MM L lens inside. This bag is marketed as the larger of the two versions designed specifically for this type of equipment. Once this gear was in the bag it compress the other areas to the point where very little else could be put in this bag. I contacted B&H to return this product only to learn it was going to cost me $ to ship it back to B&H. I will probably give it to my daughter, who uses smaller camera equipment and might find it useful. Either way I'm very disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not ready for prime time! First of all, no one can take away the build quality on this adventure pack. I loved the the weather proofed outer shell material, bullet proof assembly, and spacious cargo space. Aesthetically, it's beautiful! However, for my needs, its functionality in carrying the loads that's it's designed for leaves a lot to be desired. My primary concern was the lack of appropriate lower back and hip belt padding to make it comfortable for long carries, especially when wearing lighter clothing in warm seasons. When used in winter wearing many layers of clothing (for skiing or landscape trekking), this lack of padding may not be as much of a concern. I hope that LowePro takes this into consideration in their update of this beauty!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my everything pack! 90% of anything I want to take anywhere, including a half rope and gear, fit inside this pack. Fitting a 60m rope is pushing it if you need room for other climbing/camping essentials. ...pockets...lots of cool pockets tucked in everywhere...plus a built in rain cover (on top of it's already water resistant durable construction) ...solid exterior straps for most anything I need to haul externally. I can comfortably stow my Nikon D800, 14-24mm 2.8, 70-200mm 2.8, 35mm 1.4, 50mm 1.2, and SB-800.. including other odds and ends, like a mike, batteries, etc. inside it's main protective camera area. This pack is a bit of an investment, but I reasoned it at about $$/season. I was inspired to get this pack by Andrew Kornylak. He whipped it out of his van with all his adventure photo/video gear, and I got to mess around with it first hand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good bag for outdoors, tough to fit A LOT of equipment. I'd give this bag 5 stars for its build quality and features. It has great comfort hauling a lot of heavy equipment for all-day use. It has a rigid frame that is proper for a hiker such as myself, and that I would highly recommend if you want to wear this bag on your back for long periods. The clips and pouches all work great and the weather protection is excellent. I've already taken it in the snow, dirt, and by the ocean and it's still holding up just fine. The orange straps are a nice touch too. But I did struggle a lot with actually packing my gear in the bag comfortably. In this bag I pack a 5DmkIII w/ battery grip attached mounted to a 70-200 f2.8, a 85mm f1.2, and 24-70 f2.8. When all of these lenses have the hoods on them it is a very tight fit. So much that I no longer store the lenses with the hoods on them and just put the in the top pocket. I expected a bit more width out of this bag and because the bag is so weatherproofed, I think it sacrifices some space for durability. The layout of my dividers is a tough fit and the bag came looking like it had a TON of space. But once I put everything in the bag I quickly realized that I would not be able to use all of the available dividers and maximize all the space. I use the main gray dividers down the middle, and only about 4 of the orange dividers. I have lots left over. I just can't fit everything comfortably. Granted, I am trying to fit most ALL of my gear and I've come to terms that this bag is specially made for one task at hand... Not for lifetime storage. Don't pack this bag for those just in case moments because you will just make it heavier and more jam-packed with equipment. This bag will teach you to pack lighter and only pack for the equipment that you need when on the field. Being a 450 bag from Lowepro, this bag feels like it has LESS space when compared to other 450 bags my friends own. This is also partly due to its narrower width, but taller height. Most other 450 bags are WIDER, allowing you to fit fatter lenses. But because this bags is narrower, it's a tough fit that I'm not happy with most of the time. The bag is already a little on the heavy to begin with so you will very likely be hauling around a lot of weight on your back with added gear, so beware. If you own quality lenses that are large in size, this bag is probably not for you. It's best for 1 med-telephoto, and 2 standard lenses MAX. If you have slimmer lenses and only need 2 lenses to haul around you'll be fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Spacious and durable Plenty of room inside and out. The quality control from mine was a little less than desired on of the clips on the side was broke, but still useable and a zipper in the upper compartment was sewn insideout the only other down side is the lack of dedicated routing for a camelback hose. As far as the positives go it holds a significant amount of gear comfortably and easily. I tested it with a Nikon D7100 with batterygrip and 7 lens as well as a tripod on the side and a camel back. I'm 6'3 and it fit comfortably. It still had room on the sides to attach more gear. I would have no problem taking this bag on a hike it's rugged and keeps your gear well protected.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent weight distribution I have been looking for a bigger camera bag for some time and jumped on the opportunity to get the Whistler BP 450 AW (Gray) on a B&H special. When I first opened the shipping box, the bag felt heavy and it is (more than 7 pounds). My initial reaction was to send it back. Eventually I decided to test it out. I put my gears in (5D mark III, 70-200mm f2.8L II, 16-35mm f4L II, Sigma 50mm f1.4 art, two speed light and other small accessories). Another lens can fit in snugly. Overall, the bag can hold less than I initially anticipated. However, it should be adequate for most purposes, especially that there's more space on top and front (I can fit my travel tripod in the front bag). After hiking for two and half hours at Anthony Wayne Recreation area in the snow (see my pics at hikingape.com), I decided to keep it. It is surprisingly comfortable and does not feel as heavy. The stiff insert to hold the camera gears is great at distribute the weight away from your shoulders and keep the bag steady on your hips. With a softer bag, the contents are prone to move around when you go up and down slopes. Those movements cause weight of the bag shifting around and put pressure on your shoulders. The Whistler BP450, on the other hand, is really stiff. No weight shifting happens to any direction. After one short trip, I feel that this bag is a keeper. I will update my review for a longer term testing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as Expected The quality of the bag is great. Good material. Seals up tight and seems like it will last a long time. The capacity for actual camera gear wasn't as great as I had hoped. Access to gear is a little cumbersome. Once you unzip the main flap there is another flap on the inner box. This flap is very awkward and hard to open/close. You can roll it down mostly out of the way. It was also a tight fit for gear. Once my camera body with 200mm lens was in. It squished the side walls quite a bit. After some rearranging and removing several velcro pads I got my gear in. 200mm w/ body, 24-70mm, 50mm, flash, battery chargers, cards, and air puffer. My other camera body and lens diffuser had to go in the top separate pocket. So it can carry a decent amount but it was just a pain to get to it. I'm returning the item and getting something that has a ton of room and quicker access.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bag if you can get it for a Right Price I am a Semi-Pro photographer that has subjects from racing to Nature. I like to try to carry as much gear as I can so that I may be ready for most anything. This bag is a good size top to bottom and depth of the ICU (internal carring unit) but lacks in width dimension. This bag/ICU is just a little to narrow for my liking. I have my DSLR and my 70-200 F2.8 lens in the middle of my bag and two lens on the right side and flash on the other it is a very! snug fit. Another thing is that it does not have very good interior or exterior pockets. The ones that are on the bag have very limited space. I just wish there was more pockets to hold items and also the ones that are on the bag were larger. I would also for day hikes would like an area where a person could add a camel back water bag. I will give the builder(s) credit that this bag seem to be built tough. The zippers and material seem very tough and the outside straps for gear are well built. The shoulder straps and the waist strap are large and comfortable.
