The BabyCam Bundle from Garmin combines a turn-by-turn GPS unit featuring detailed maps of the United States with a video monitor for infants riding in the backseat. The monitor even works in the dark, allowing you to see your child without turning on lights that might disturb their sleep.
The BabyCam's monitor measures 3.4 x 1.6 x 1.7", weighs under 2 oz and attaches easily to the stem of a backseat headrest. (If your backseat doesn't have headrests, adhesive or mounting-arm options are sold separately.) It transmits to the GPS display using 2.4GHz connectivity and can be plugged in or run on two AA batteries. The system displays a helpful reminder to check for passengers before getting out of the car.
Navigation is provided by Garmin's Drive 50 LM GPS unit with a 5" color touchscreen display. The system comes with numerous features to make driving easier, including free lifetime map updates, alerts for road hazards (or your own fatigue), a warning when going the wrong way on a one-way road, easy-to-understand directions using landmarks and businesses, directions within complex locations like airports and mall parking lots, and comprehensive search.
Along with map data, the Drive 50 is populated with information from Foursquare on millions of local destinations and points of interest. You can also customize the device with up to 1,000 destinations of your choosing. Lane assist and junction view ensure that you are in the right lane of travel, while route shaping helps you pick the most efficient way to get where you're going. The system is compatible with user-supplied Garmin backup and backseat cameras.
