    Seagate ST8000NM0055 reviews

8TB Enterprise Capacity 512 Emulation 7200rpm SATA III Internal Drive is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very noisy These drives are very noisy, and they create sounds I've never heard from a hard drive before. It's an annoying buzz that's a little like a dentist's drill. In addition to being annoying, the sound is very difficult to contain. We have five of these and they all sound the same. If you plan to use these drives in an isolated machine room you'll be fine, but if you're going to install them as part of a system in an office, studio, or editing room I recommend choosing a different drive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I will buy again. Bought a pair for storing home video from my Canon 5 Mk IV. Work great so far, no issues. Had issues with desktop drives not lasting in a 24/7 environment so I thought I'd give the enterprise drives a shot. Even with backups, the hassle of not replacing a drive should more than offset the price premium for an enterprise drive.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Noise! These drives are so noisy that I regularly power down the RAID when not in use. I waited several months after buying two of these drives to install them, so did not feel I could return them. Definitely would not buy again. It makes me leery of buying any Seagate drive going forward.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Noisy Works fine but be advised this drive is noisy and makes searching/accessing sounds. I am told this is normal but it is annoying when you are editing. I would not buy this drive again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It is noisy Got the unit, plugged it into the drive port and it was so noisy i'm sending it back. Really wanted this to be a winner because of the 5 year warranty. The noise was a deal killer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big, quick, affordable I was sour at first, because my first unit was defective, but I put B&H's replacement into my NAS and it's been working steadily ever since. Everyone has bad luck sometimes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No problems with the disc I recently bought two of these to replace drives in my Drobo 5D. I haven't done any speed tests, but the discs are working as expected.
