Equipped with a large and intuitive 2.7" color touchscreen LCD and now featuring built-in radio flash power control and triggering for the 2.4 GHz Elinchrom EL Skyport wireless system, the LiteMaster Pro L-478DR-U-EL Series Light Meter from Sekonic will make incident metering for ambient and flash light super simple. The major ability of this system enables complete control of the flash's power in 0.1-step increments. Along with this, the 20-channel system has separate selection between 4 groups with measured values maintained for ratio determination. Users will also be able to control modeling lamp power as well as set ALL groups at once.
Notable for the L-478 light meter series is the large color touchscreen, which allows for fast control over settings for both ambient and flash metering. The meter is quite capable as well, able to function within a range of -2 to 22.9 EV at ISO 100. And, for the current crop of hybrid shooters this model expands on its standard stills functions with two distinct video modes: Cine and HD Cine. These settings give access to frame rate selection from 1-1,000 fps as well as shutter angle settings from 1-358° as well as ISO 850 for Canon cinema cameras.
Guaranteeing the best possible performance is a suite of functions and features that will ensure users have the best tools available to them. Among these is a flash analyzing function that uses ambient and flash simultaneously to allow for shooters to dial in their preferred mix. Also, using the included Data Transfer Software users will be able to do Exposure Profiling for their camera by using the optional 5° viewfinder, showing dynamic range limits and knowing that you will have an accurate exposure. Alongside this is a Filtration Compensation Mode that allows for the meter to account for filter factor, which can now be done at up to 12 EV for landscape shooters using high-density ND filters. Other features include a contrast function for comparing brightness, a memory mode for 8 readings, and illuminance or luminance measurement.

Sekonic L-478DR-U Reviews
One of my favorite tools
I just got into studio lighting and this was one of the last items to come in. It makes working with and testing my lighting so much easier.
Pleased as always
as always item came as represented and a timely manner
best meter I have ever owned
This meter is perfect. It has everything I need for motion and stills. A great upgrade for my early version Sekonic.
An excellent Light meter
The light meter is the exact tool you need to measure accurately the light in studio (Light or contrast measurement). The remote control of Elinchrom flashes works perfectly with BRX500 and D Lite RX4 flashes. The control of the flashes located from the measurement point is extremely easy and convenient. The tuning is achieved quickly and efficiently with single or multiple light sources. The Sekonic interface with modern colour touch screen is effective and simple to use. I started with a L-308S that is cheaper, but there is no comparison. If the budget is available, don't hesitate, the L 478 offers an easy and accurate measure of both the source itself and of the contrast you can't get so easily with the L-308S.
Great meter
I'm able to trigger my lights with this meter. No longer need an assistant to trigger the lights while I meter.
A good replacement for the Gossen
I have Elinchrom strobes so was glad to see a substitute for the expensive Gossen meter, which after several years died. I like the Sekonic meter. With the Sekonic, I have to be careful not to touch the button on the left, which is for memory and makes the meter get stuck on a particular setting.Technical support was helpful in showing me how to unstick the meter. So far I have not been able to update the software. Technical support said that the ability to do so might depend on the cord used. I took off 1-star because of the ease of touching the memory button.
Love this light meter
This light meter was suggested by a fellow photographer and it works so well with the Elinchrom lights I just purchased. I highly recommend it.
Great lightmeter
This is a perfect tool for portrait work to ensure your exposure is accurate. It takes all the guess work out of your camera's reading and it's been spot on for exposure. I would recommend it to anyone who's serious about getting better images and doing less post processing.
