The Lenovo 15.6" ThinkPad P50 Mobile Workstation is a notebook that is suited for CAD and design workflows while you are on the road. It comes packed with an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor along with a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro M1000M graphics card, which outputs 1920 x 1080 visuals to the 15.6" screen. To handle multiple applications at the same time, 8GB of DDR4 RAM is installed. There's also a 500GB hard drive that spins at a rate of 7200 rpm and comes with ample space to store your images, videos, and data.

The 15.6" display is equipped an IPS panel that offers a 160° viewing angle as well as accurate colors. Lenovo has designed this screen with a brightness level of 250 cd/m2, a 600:1 contrast ratio, and a color gamut of 45%. You can also expand the on-screen workspace by connecting your external monitors to the notebook's HDMI and mini DisplayPort.

The P50 lets you access networks wired or wirelessly with a Gigabit Ethernet port along with an 802.11ac Wi-Fi module. Bluetooth 4.1 technology is also supported in the module that lets the workstation wirelessly connect to Bluetooth-enabled devices. Four USB 3.0 ports are offered to connect with printers, digital cameras, and other devices. Additionally, one of these USB ports allows you to charge a USB battery-powered smartphone or tablet. For a faster connection, Thunderbolt 3 technology is included so you can access high-resolution displays and data devices simultaneously through a compact and reversible Type-C port.

Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) is preinstalled on the drive and provided via Microsoft's downgrade rights, which includes a license for Windows 10 Professional. You may uninstall the current operating system to install Windows 10 Pro. For security, an integrated touch-style fingerprint reader is located on the palm rest so you can gain access to the system without typing passwords. Other notable features include an Expresscard 34 slot, a 4-in-1 card reader, a dual-array microphone, a combo audio jack, a 720p webcam, and two speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great laptop I bought this laptop almost over a moth back. So far it has been great. Didn't have any issues. I got the FHD version with Xeon processor. Initially I was little reluctant to buy because of the FHD screen reviews I saw online. The screen is a little less bright but you wont notice that unless you go outside in bright sunlight. But otherwise display is pretty great for my purposes, which is mostly coding and surfing. I got used to off center keyboard although would have preferred a keyboard without numpad. Laptop is very silent. Speakers are not that great but I don't really care about in-laptop speakers. Overall this laptop really worked for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lenovo Thinkpad delivers server capable P50 laptop I never write reviews, but have to for this product, the quality feel and performance of this laptop is unbeatable. Added 64 GB of memory and this thing truly delivers server like capabilities. I am running VMWare virtualization, VMs within ESXi6 nested on top of Workstation 12, with no issues. Some technical feedback for consumers out there considering the P50... The P50 has an extra slot to add an additional 2.5 inch HDD or SSD, or in the same slot space, you can add two M.2 flash drives, either SATA6G or NVMe which delivers 24gb/s transfer rates. Now here is the big disappointment, be aware the Lenovo P50 requires additional accessories, a tray for either the 2.5 inch drive or the flash drives, and they do not have this tray in stock, there is a 90 day or better wait period.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Powerful machine but average build quality This laptop is very powerful, and the specs are very nice for the type of scientific research work that I do. However I was particularly disappointed with build quality. The first machine that I received had a flimsy lower screen bezel that resulted in a large gap between the actual screen and the plastic. The replacement machine that I received had the same issue. Also the right side palm rest on the machine is pretty flexible. On my machine, it actually bulges upwards about 1.5 mm, which causes it to push against the screen when the lid is closed. Other issues include misaligned USB ports, which make it a bit hard to plug/unplug USB devices. These issues aren't disastrous, but they are quite annoying. Overall the laptop does the work fine, but the build quality leaves a lot to be desired, especially at this price point.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor performance with docking station I purchased this laptop with very high expectations. I also purchased the docking station at a whopping $250. The display resolution is pathetic when docked: 1. I cannot view video full screen with the native resolution (it shows a black screen). If I dumb down the resolution, then it will display but at a 1990's resolution. 2. The pc/dock does not reset its resolution when it is docked or undocked. It leaves the wrong resolution so you have to reboot the pc to correct the display!! I have been using Lenovo laptops (5, both work and personal... with docks) for 5 years, and I have never experienced this garbage! For close to a $2000 setup, this pc is garbage!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerhouse Fantastic machine. I am a software tester for a CPU intensive application. The xeon processor handles the algorithms incredibly well. I would suggest this model for anyone seeking a laptop that can go toe-to-toe with most desktops. I would easily consider this a "bang for buck" product. Lenovo P50 Thinkpad Xeon E3-1505M v5 CPU NVIDIA Quadro M2000M GPU 16gb RAM WIndows 10 ### Gave Reliability a 4/5 as I have only used it for a month. In six months or so I will update to a 5/5 if all goes well. The build is fantastic. There is this protective rubber on the lid that feels and protects very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Workhorse laptop My company uses this laptop as one of our six standard issue laptops. It is a workhorse machine and solid. It is not a lightweight machine, but I would rather have a heavier machine with uncompromised performance. As a customer facing resource I need to have a machine that performs from a memory and CPU standpoint which this machine does well. I also had problems with with Presenting and extending my desktop. The standard issue NVidia card does the job across the board. There is no screen flicker and no compromise of Video performance. If you can handle a heavier machine when you travel for performance this is the machine you should buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I abuse this I bought this laptop over 2 and a half semesters ago when it first came out. I wanted windows 7 and no weird touchscreen options that run up the cost. I worked 2 months to afford this. I bought the 4 core i7 and the cheapest gpu. I wanted a workstation instead of a gaming laptop because the quadro gpu's are supported by solidworks, as appose to the gtx's. The gpu, windows 7, the relatively decent battery (when throttled down) and the durability. I put this in my bag and ride my skateboard to class, and I fell hard on my bag and scraped up the laptop. Everything worked fine and it is still fully functional. Does everything I need it to do as an engineering student.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I was worried about the offset keyboard - it took less than a day to get used to. I was worried about near workstation class of the P50 for heat, battery life, and weight. It has two fans and doesn't get any hotter than the laptop it replaced in my life, a T530. The 6 cell battery lasts many hours longer in my usage than the T530 ever did and the weight is just about the same. Well, the AC power supply is about 1.5 times the size so there is extra size and weight there. I chose the P50 mostly for the upgrade in video capabilities and memory expansion capability that I expect to use to support program development and virtual machines.
