The Lenovo 15.6" ThinkPad P50 Mobile Workstation is a notebook that is suited for CAD and design workflows while you are on the road. It comes packed with an Intel Xeon E3-1505M v5 processor along with a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro M2000M graphics card, which outputs 1920 x 1080 visuals to the 15.6" screen. To handle multiple applications at the same time, 16GB of DDR4 RAM is installed. There's also a 256GB SATA-based SSD that enables the notebook to boot up nearly instantaneously and provides quick access to your data.

The 15.6" display is equipped an IPS panel that offers a 160° viewing angle as well as accurate colors. Lenovo has designed this screen with a brightness level of 250 cd/m2, a 600:1 contrast ratio, and a color gamut of 45%. You can also expand the on-screen workspace by connecting your external monitors to the notebook's HDMI and mini DisplayPort.

The P50 lets you access networks wired or wirelessly with a Gigabit Ethernet port along with an 802.11ac Wi-Fi module. Bluetooth 4.1 technology is also supported in the module that lets the workstation wirelessly connect to Bluetooth-enabled devices. Four USB 3.0 ports are offered to connect with printers, digital cameras, and other devices. Additionally, one of these USB ports allows you to charge a USB battery-powered smartphone or tablet. For a faster connection, Thunderbolt 3 technology is included so you can access high-resolution displays and data devices simultaneously through a compact and reversible Type-C port.

Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) is preinstalled on the drive and provided via Microsoft's downgrade rights, which includes a license for Windows 10 Professional. You may uninstall the current operating system to install Windows 10 Pro. For security, an integrated touch-style fingerprint reader is located on the palm rest so you can gain access to the system without typing passwords. Other notable features include an Expresscard 34 slot, a 4-in-1 card reader, a dual-array microphone, a combo audio jack, a 720p webcam, and two speakers.

15.6" ThinkPad P50 Mobile Workstation is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and silent Got a windows 10 Acer first, but some older 3D programs wouldn't load, and hated the lack of interface adjustments. If You need a shopping gate go with 10 but if You need a computer, this is the one with W7 loaded. I span across 2 extra HD Monitors for CS6, and it runs all 3D programs (XSI, C4D, Hash,MOI etc) with ease. Plays Mafia II at full speed. Exchangeable battery and express card makes it pro to me. The screen could be a little brighter, but the UHD version supposedly is. Well made, everything purposeful no gamer chintz of the Klingon design school.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serious mobile workstation I previously purchased an MSI Laptop with a Xeon processor, Raid 0 SSD drives and ECC Ram. It was spec'ed much higher than this P50 Lenovo. After a few weeks of use, I could not stand the MSI, it was slow, unresponsive and choked on tasks that my i7 laptop was not wincing at. I then decided to try a Lenovo laptop (used a few of their PC's without problems in the past and have built several PC's with MSI motherboards that also were not problematic). Well I got my P50 up and running with Solidworks and this machine is solid. It runs super smooth and hasn't hiccuped or choked when multiple apps were running. I am seriously stoked I tried Lenovo. The build quality is also much higher than the $2,600 MSI I had previously tried.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No External Output. Horrible Customer Service! Since I need a high-end computer quickly, I purchased the ThinkPad P50 from B&H on Wednesday night and had it delivered on Friday AM. I spent a couple of hours loading the software, (Office, Photoshop, TelePrompter, etc.) then drove to a jobsite. I was very impressed with the computer while using it standalone. The next morning I setup the P50 with an external display. After about 2 hours, I noticed that it wasnt outputting an image. The P50 did not see the external display. I rebooted, checked the bios, swapped the cable, swapped monitors; all the usual troubleshooting steps. I confirmed the latest bios and display drivers. The best I could do was about 10-15 minutes before the external display went out. It would not find the external display until I rebooted, checked the bios and reconnected the external display. Then MAYBE it would display externally! It was then that I found out that tech support would need to charge me to fix the problem, maybe. Hooking up to an external display wasnt covered by the warranty. They would need to charge me to tell me how to do that. Needless to say, I sent it back. I do not plan to buy a Lenovo PC again. B&H was good to handle the return, but Lenovo has lost my business because of their lack of Customer Support. I did confirm online that this is an unresolved issue with this model. I wish I had done more research before the purchase but couldnt due to time constraints.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible - Do Not Buy Bios & Motherboards do not work with USB & HDMI ports. Lenovo has sent out a couple of laptops to replace faulty devices. I am on my third one from the factory and still the USB ports & HDMI port don't work. It might be a good laptop if you don't need to connect anything to it otherwise it will be very frustrating.
