JMR Electronics has built the 96TB (16 x 6TB) 3G BlueStor Sixteen-Bay SHARE Network Storage Server with a modular design that uses no cables in the data path. This design allows for easy service, improves airflow, and offers fewer points of failure. Each of its sixteen bays houses a 6TB 3.5" enterprise-class Helium hard drive to deliver a total raw capacity of 96TB. These SATA III drives spin at a rate of 7,200 rpm and have 64MB of cache. In addition, the drives are vertically mounted and housed in vibration dampening canisters to increase signal integrity and airflow.
This 3 RU rackmounted system comes with two internal 6Gb SAS expanders, which are connected to a hardware RAID controller. This dual expander architecture allows JMR to configure the drives into a RAID 50 mode for increased performance. At the core, the 3G BlueStor NAS sports an Intel Z97 Express chipset, a 3.5 GHz quad-core Intel i7 processor, 32GB of DDR3 ECC memory, and six PCIe expansion slots. This combination of features allows data to be quickly transferred to a network via two Gigabit Ethernet and two 10 10 GbE ports.
Powered by euroNAS software OS, the BlueStor has AFP, NFS, SMB/CIFS, and FTP support as well as built-in iSCSI target and Fibre Channel target support for VMware ESX, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Citrix XEN solutions. It also offers asynchronous replication that copies storage data to another server, snapshot replication that transfers live data quickly and reliability, and point-in-time snapshots for recovering files to an earlier state.
To help provide always-available data, four N+1 configured high-velocity fans and two 620W N+1 hot-swappable power supplies keep the system as well as drives running. Furthermore, the BlueStor is SES 2.0 compliant and provides real-time status for every bay. You are alerted to activity and failures via indicators and audible alarms.
