Leica fuses the image quality of a powerful, fully multicoated optic with the usefulness of an 1100-meter laser rangefinder and integrated ballistics calculator to create its 15x56 Geovid R Binocular/Rangefinder. Using an infrared laser rangefinder and a built-in inclinometer, the on-board computer adjusts the displayed range for more precise shot placement when shooting up or downhill, and an in-view four-character LED display allows the observer to view the range without having to take their eyes off the subject. This version of the Geovid displays distances in meters only and is controlled with a convenient single push button.

Complementing its ranging qualities, the Geovid sports oversized 56mm objective lenses and a powerful 15x magnification. Combining this lens system with Leica's proprietary anti-reflection lens coatings helps to boost light transmission, and improve color and contrast, even at long distances. Excellent low-light performance during the dawn and dusk hours extends its usability. Protecting the optics and electronics is a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy chassis that is nitrogen filled for fogproof and waterproof performance in extreme conditions. It is wrapped in a protective armor that also provides a slip-resistant grip, especially in cold and wet weather. Because of the size, weight, and high magnification, the Geovid is outfitted with a tripod adapter mount to allow users to attach it to a support system. Using a tripod not only avoids fatigue, but with magnifications this powerful hand-shake tends to become more noticeable so mounting the binocular will increase the glassing experience greatly.

Optical Performance

  • 15x magnification
  • 56mm objectives
  • Compact roof prisms
  • HDC anti-refection fully multicoated optics improve light transmission, color fidelity, and contrast
  • 225' field of view at 1000 yards
  • Wide 64° apparent viewing angle

Laser Rangefinder

  • Measures range in meters only
  • Simple one-button design
  • FDA Class 1 eye-safe IR laser
  • Range: 10 to 1100 meters
  • Measuring accuracy: ±1 meter to 366 meters, ±2 meters to 732 meters, ±0.5% past 732 meters
  • Spot mode: Use spot for stationary single measurement
  • Scan mode: Use scan for continuous measurement on moving or multiple targets
  • Display: In-view LED shows four characters and automatically adjusts to ambient light
  • EHR ballistics function: Utilizes a built-in inclinometer to measure angle to the target relative to the user; displays the equivalent horizontal range for distances from 10 to 550 meters and uses adjusted distance for a more accurate hold-over/under
  • Runs on one CR2 lithium battery: Battery life is approximately 2,000 measurements at 68°F (20°C)
