Dracast LED1000 Daylight Overview

Taking the standard panel and slimming it down, Dracast has developed the LED1000 Silver Series Foldable Daylight LED Light to be a powerful and portable fixture ideal for run-and-gun shooting. This model specifically takes things up a notch with a folding design, making it more compact for storage and travel. In terms of light output, the LED1000 Silver is quite capable with 1000 LEDs rated with a CRI of >95. It also sports a 45° beam angle and has a physical dial on the back permitting dimming from 0-100%.

For maximum durability the panel has an aluminum chassis and it comes with a center mount yoke for control over light placement. The light itself also measures just 9.1 x 7.8 x 1.4" when folded and opens up to 9.1 x 15.7 x 0.7" for a broad, soft light source. It can run on either 100-240 VAC power via the included adapter or a 14.8 VDC battery pack on the V-mount plate. It draws just 58W and comes with a carrying case.

question

I have Dracast Silkray panels that can't be trusted because they don't go off as the batteries get low; they just fade out gradually. Do these behave the same way?
Asked by: Gavin
According to Dracast, the output begins to drop when the battery reaches 50% of its capacity. However, the light will just turn off when the battery dies.

question

Can I use Canon or Sony battery with this? other wise no point buying this,
Asked by: Faisal I.
The light itself has a standard V-mount battery plate. We (and others, I'm sure) sell a V-mount to Dual-NPF adapter plate. This will allow you to run the battery with two NPF batteries, as long as they are compatible with the Sony L-Series connections. // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at [email protected]

question

Can you give information about kits exterior dimensions and total weight?
Asked by: Mike
Unfortunately, Dracast does not list the dimensions of the complete kit. However, our shipping outer box dimensions for the kit are listed as 18.70 x 16.60 x 14.40 in inches (47.50 cm x 42.16 cm x 36.58 cm in centimeters), and weighs 27.55 lbs (12.50 kg). The kit inside the shipment would be slightly smaller than these dimensions, so this is a good rough estimate for the overall maximum size of the kit.

question

what would be the equivalent watt output to compare it to a tungsten light?
Asked by: Richard S.
It's tough to say as LED's have a very different cast then Fresnel (I assume you're talking about can lights and not just tungsten colored LED's). If you had to ball park it I'd say around 500W. Definitely not as punchy as an industry standard 650W, but certainly brighter than a 300W. FYI the throw on LED's is generally shallower so distance is an issue, but the above comparison is relatively sound under 5 meters to the source.

question

Hello, I am currently looking to purchase the Dracast Silver series LED 1000. My question is right now on the website, a single light is about $350, so why does this 3-light kit cost $1,500. What is included in the kit? I tried to look for information but it's not listed here.
Asked by: Dat N.
I will have to let B&H answer that question, as it is about their pricing. // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at [email protected]

question

Has anyone had flicker issues at any framerate with any camera with Dracast led panels?
Asked by: Brad D.
Thanks to all of you who have used our lights successfully with video, without any flicker. Our other lights have the same lack of flicker, and are very good for any kind of video. // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at [email protected]

question

Hi, so to charge the batteries, I need to buy a separate charger? Are they any other less expensive ones than the dual dracast charger?
Asked by: Dustin M.
** Join the Dracast member area on their website, they offer monthly members only deals' and sold the v-mount battery for only $99 a few months ago. It's a good thing to sign up for!

question

This light is listed as 7000 lux at 1m here, but on the spec sheet at Dracast the max is listed at just over 4200 lux.... any idea which is correct please, or how bright it will be?
Asked by: John B.
Most likely 7000 is with both tungsten and daylight bulbs at full blast - since you can adjust them independently, assue any general value is for both bulbs - sometimes they will break it dow (lux for all daylight, lux for all tungsten and then a combined value.)
