    Motorola MB7420-10 reviews

    MB7420-10 16x4 686 Mbps DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from FINALLY No more spinning circles of death! Worth every penny and wish I'd bought it sooner! I was having to completely disconnect my modem and router every 2-3 days because my internet connection would just die. Very frustrating! Then I replaced my 5-y-o modem with this one and no more issues! I have now been online for 3 weeks straight with not even a hiccup! What they don't tell you - increased speed from my ISP was clogging the 2-channel modem I had used successfully for several years. Many calls to their tech support and no one ever mentioned that I needed more channels. After googling for others experiences, I discovered that this most likely was my issue. Installed this modem, made 1 phone call to activate (that took longer than anything else due to hold time), and I've been back online since. No more failed backups, no more crashed online movies or shows, no more endless spinning circles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from MB7420 Modem from Motorola I almost never rate something 5 Stars, so 4 stars for this modem. What do you expect? It just works and set up is very easy with your internet provider. I have also heard that this is a modem that will grow as your internet provider grows and changes your internet connection. Works great for me and look forward to it lasting years and years...... Michael

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as expected onTWC. Works as expected and saves me money every month. Provides a reliable connection to Time Warner Cable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Failed to connect to Time Warner Cable Even after a service technician visit, the modem never successfully connected to Time Warner Cable (Spectrum). The modem would get blue upstream and downstream lights indicating it connected to 2 or more channels, but the Online light (globe) would just keep blinking. The service technician said the modem was bad. Looking at the logs in modem admin panel, the modem logged an access denied error, so I'm not sure where the problem really was. Either way, for a modem that specifically says it connects with Time Warner on the box, it was a disappointment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The modem would have been fine, but... ... I checked out the Comcast self activation web site before buying the modem and all was well, or so I thought. When I went to activate the modem, I had an over 2 hour conversation with at least three Comcast reps/technicians before getting the modem on line. The modem was online per Comcast, but they had some problems getting the modem to talk to the internet. Suffice to say, that getting operational was nowhere as easy and straightforward as I thought. You'd think that a Comcast customer for over 25 years would know better. Me bad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny Although I am PC savvy compared to most people, I have been putting off to upgrade the modem provided by Comcast with my own for a while and now I regret that I haven't done it earlier. I was paying $10 a month for a modem that is worth about $40, I checked in the Comcast website to make sure this modem was compatible with my internet plan just in case. Installation was a breeze, it literally took about 2 minutes, just make sure you have your Comcast/Xfinity account number with whatever info to log into the account before you disconnect the old modem and you'll be set. The quick installation guide provided with the modem has the internet link for the Comcast installation page which recognize the modem immediately, I did not have to put any info about the modem, I just logged into my Comcast account and Comcast took it from there. I'm not only impressed with how easy the installation went since I did not have to call Comcast and my router, wireless printer and smart TVs are all working as usual. Even more, I use the Speedtest website to check the speed of the modem Comcast gave me, which by the way I upgraded a year ago after their suggestion to find out that I am getting faster downloads, my download speed went from 140 Mbps to about 180 Mbps, upload speed remains the same at 12 Mbps, my guess is that Comcast will give you the modem that will comply with the bare minimum speed they are suppose to provide which is convenient for them. The modem I had, I believe it was a 8x4 rated much slower, and that can be seen in the results from Speedtest. Definitely recommend this modem to be future proved for a few years. Also B&H was amazing as usual, super fast expedited shipping with no prime membership required, price was the same as Amazon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I intend to purchase a second when I return to Florida Performs as advertised but I had some problems getting it to work at first. Tech support was outstanding, however.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Problems on Brighthouse Networks The modem works well when first connected. Exceptionally fast response and high data rates. However, performance slowly degrades as weeks pass and it eventually locks. I suspect the problem is not the modem, but instead the configuration information that is supplied to it by Brighthouse Networks. At first the modem bonded four upstream channels but lately it is using just one. It bonds all sixteen downstream channels but with some channels logging recoverable and unrecoverable errors. The channel strength and signal to noise ratios are all good, so there must be some slight incompatibility with the Brighthouse hardware or signal. There is no option on the web interface to manually reboot or to schedule periodic reboots. I'll likely purchase another vendor's modem rather than waste time troubleshooting things with Brighthouse Networks.
