LG UH9500 overview

  • 1Description

Enjoy wide viewing angles and vibrant colors with the LG UH9500-Series 65"-Class Super UHD Smart IPS LED TV. IPS technology is designed to enhance color quality while widening viewing angles for a broad range of positioning options. Its UHD display will produce detailed 4K images, and its TruMotion 240 Hz refresh rate will reduce the blur associated with fast-moving objects. HDR Super and Dolby Vision will further enhance image quality, while the onboard Harman Kardon-designed speaker system will produce enhanced audio.

The UH9500 series has three HDMI inputs and three USB ports for digital connectivity plus an analog RCA composite video input. Local dimming will provide augmented contrast by dimming the backlight behind darker areas of images while keeping bright areas vibrant. Integrated Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections will enable the TV's smart TV, onboard web browser, and webOS functions and apps. Screen mirroring is also possible via Wi-Fi.

Note: Content acquired via certain apps may require subscription to a service.

Super UHD TV
The UH9500-Series Smart TV offers advanced technologies that deliver over a billion rich colors, smoother motion and elevated brightness plus HDR with Dolby Vision.
HDR Super with Dolby Vision
LG Super UHD TVs support both HDR10 and Dolby Vision, delivering the look that filmmakers intended, while assuring full playability of current and upcoming HDR streaming content, such as Netflix. Dolby Vision is an elevated HDR standard preferred by a number of major studios. Movies mastered for Dolby Vision can be enjoyed on LG Super UHD TVs, more faithfully matching the filmmakers' intention.
IPS 4K Quantum Display
LG SUPER UHD TVs can reproduce a wider pallet of over a billion rich colors for a more lifelike picture, consistent at a wider viewing angle thanks to IPS 4K Quantum Display technology.
Wide Viewing Angle
The IPS panel in this TV uses in-plane switching to deliver rich colors and a strong contrast ratio that remain consistent at wide viewing angles.
Ultra Luminance
Picture quality becomes more dynamic with Ultra Luminance, which boosts peak brightness.
webOS 3.0 Smart TV
LG's Smart TV platform is designed to be easy to use with Magic Remote, Magic Mobile Connection, and Magic Zoom.
Magic Zoom
Magic Zoom can enlarge live screens while viewers watch. By pressing the Zoom key on the remote control, the scene can be enlarged to catch the details.
Magic Mobile Connection
Download the free LG TV Plus app to a compatible smart device, then link it to the TV to wirelessly display photos, videos, and many apps on the big screen.
Magic Remote Ready
The separately sold Magic Remote lets you simply point, click, scroll, or use voice commands to do all that webOS has to offer.
Harman Kardon Sound
The onboard sound system by Harman Kardon is designed to provide rich, cinematic sound in your living room.

    LG UH9500 reviews

UH9500-Series 65"-Class Super UHD Smart IPS LED TV is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from LG 65UH9500 LED TV = FANTASTIC Picture & Soung My first tv arrived with a defective LED screen, but B & H promptly exchanged it with a new one, no questions asked! The replacement was delivered and all I can say is the 65UH9500 display & sound are FANTASTIC!!!! I have a Sony (55 LED) and this is my second LG (55 Plasma), but the picture & sound on the 65UH9500 are crystal clear. I wanted to go OLED, but could not justify the expensive cost. The resolution on this LED, about 3X less cost, is almost close to an OLED. Thank you B & H for a great price and your 1st rate customer service for making my purchase experience go smoothly! For now in, I'll be going to B & H for future electronic & camera purchases! I'll even tell relatives & friends on the great competitive prices at B & H. Now I'm enjoying my new 65 LG LED tv.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 3.5 Stars really, but still a great set. Overall, I would give this TV a 3.5, but since I couldnt rate with half stars, I was generous and gave this TV a 4. DESIGN Good: This TV is flat out beautiful. The bezel is very minimal which I feel improves the overall viewing quality. There is a tiny bit more than about 1/2 inch of bezel all the way around the active TV image (about 1/4 inch is the actual metal bezel and 1/4 inch is black space around the edge of the screen. The TV is also insanely thin. Maybe a little thicker than the lid on a Macbook Pro. The finish quality is very nice and the unit is well-packaged in the box. Even the stand is very sturdy and high quality. Bad: Because the majority of the set is so thin, the mounting points (for a wall mount) are very low. They are also very close together (200mm x 200mm). Youll have to attach the wall mount pretty low and make sure you get the right one so the mounting bars do not stick out below the TV. INTERFACE Good: This is probably the best part about this TV. WebOS 3.0 is fantastic. Getting to different apps is easy and if you dont open too many apps at once, it caches them in memory so switching between them is instant. The interface is highly customizable and coupled with the Magic Remote, it is very easy to use. The best part if voice search which allows you to speak to the TV to search for different items on the TV. You just hold down the search button on the remote for a couple seconds the ask the TV what to search for and where. It will pull open results and even give you different viewing options from different apps. The voice search is fairly fast and accurate too. Bad: Its missing a couple key apps like HBO Now and the CW app. Hopefully they will be added in the near future. IMAGE QUALITY Good: The picture quality is awesome when viewing 4K and 1080p content. Upscaling from anything lower res is still good but not as nice. The TV has several pre-defined picture modes that can be tweaked to your hearts content. I tend to keep the TV on HDR Effect (High) after tweaking some of the settings. The cool part is that you can adjust each picture mode specific to the input you are using. Up scaling from 1080p is great and looks just about as good as 4K content on this TV. Bad: If you read any of the other reviews online, theyll point out the same thing and Ive confirmed it. Black levels are not great. I have a Samsung C8000 from a few years back that has better black levels. For a TV that was this expensive, Id expect better. Also, when I first turned on the TV, there was some annoying light bleed along a couple of the edges, but I was able to eliminate it by tweaking some settings (mainly the backlight setting). I think the TV just came packed with all the light levels blown way up. Local dimming is good, but with a TV this large I wish there were a few more zones because you can definitely tell when an area is dimmed or not which takes away from he overall picture quality. There is also a very noticeable level of backlight bleed which is apparent when you move the magic remote cursor around a dark/black screen. Vertical banding is also pretty noticeable in certain scenarios. 3D Good: The main reason I went with an LG was the passive 3D. Its amazing. This is some of the best 3D Ive seen on a TV. There is virtually no crosstalk (faint traces of the opposite 3D field in each lens) when watching a movie. Bad: I did notice that against blue (like the sky) backgrounds that crosstalk gets a bit distracting. Im going to see if I can tweak something to reduce it. SOUND I cant say much in terms of sound since I am deaf in one ear and I use a sound bar mounted below the TV, but the sound is adequate for me. VALUE I think my biggest gripe with this TV was the price. With some of the issues mentioned above, I dont think this TV justifies the price point. I wanted to get the new OLEDs because I hear that it is flat out the best TV out there, but I couldnt stomach spending a couple extra thousand dollars for it, but this TV is a good
