question

I assume the device at the 1/8 end is NOT sending phantom power. So does the mic still work? With how much dB loss? Wikipedia says phantom power raises the threshold where distortion starts, ... so won't loss of phantom power make the mic more sensitive so it distorts more quickly?
Asked by: ZenGeekDad
Your device (not sure what your device is) needs to be sending 48V of Phantom Power to Condenser style microphones that require Phantom Power. If your device does not send or switch on phantom power, the microphone will not work. You would need to change microphones to a Dynamic microphone, I believe Rhode, Shure, Behringer is sufficient. There are many makes and prices of mics that are dynamic. My situation was to connect this 1/8 connector to a conversion connector for a GoPro Hero 3+ Camera for audio input. Hope this helps!
